I Have a Dice Left by a God-Chapter 333 - 200: Postmortem Under the Moonlight
Christie pursed her lips, struggling to hold back a laugh, "President, let’s be realistic. You should give him a raise for his articles. He’s been longing for it for a while, you can’t just let the horse run without feeding it."
"Ah, you want to raise the fee?" Ma Zhe laughed knowingly, "Sure, we’ll do that."
"Okay then, let’s call it a day and let everyone rest." Christie suggested. Initially, the Night Patrol was supposed to cooperate with the King’s actions, but it seemed like things had quieted down today.
Ma Zhe also yawned, "Alright, you head back first, I’ll wrap things up here."
Christie nodded and left the secret room. Ma Zhe watched her silhouette, shaking his head helplessly. She was right, but, Captain, an explanation is just a cover-up. If she were to make a request to Li Xin, he surely wouldn’t refuse. Whether he’s willing is one thing, whether he does it is another. Based on his experience in reading people, Li Xin has a soft heart.
Ah-choo~ Ah-choo~ Ah~~~ 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Li Xin rubbed his nose. Damn it, he was in the right state of mind, writing vigorously. Judging by the popularity of this edition, it seemed like it would be a hit. He needed to talk to the President about overseas rights; they needed to understand each other. Who knows if the Dao Yuan Continent has a secret path for artists that could make them legends? If he could walk that path, wouldn’t it be amazing?
Stretching lazily, he noticed it was already dark outside, with occasional flickers of light and a bright moon. He had become accustomed to the red glow, and the sound of insects was like background music. The coffee was finished; though drinking coffee at night wasn’t ideal, he had unknowingly entered his work mode again, unable to escape his fate as a workhorse, even on the Dao Yuan Continent.
Tap-tap-tap-tap, tap-tap, tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap...
Regardless of the complaints, earning money was still a priority, and things were much better than when he first arrived. As long as the President had a bit of conscience, he wouldn’t have to worry about money anymore.
After some tap-tapping, heavy footsteps sounded on the stairs, soon followed by seductive noises next door. It seemed David had brought someone back. After all, David was David, and never walked the night alone at such an hour.
The sound of a door closing was followed by a ripping sound, and then a thumping sound started.
Li Xin was glad he had done some work earlier. If David had come back sooner, he wouldn’t have gotten anything done. Without soundproof headphones, blocking his ears would be useless.
Apparently, it wasn’t the noise but the heart fluttering. Damn hormones were really surging.
He originally wanted to test his self-control, only to find he had none. Li Xin lay on the bed, covering his head with a pillow, tossing and turning, unsure when he drifted off to sleep.
Tap-tap-tap...
Someone knocking on the window in the middle of the night?
Li Xin awoke immediately, having never slept soundly. He looked up to see an owl with bright eyes, tilting its head at him. Li Xin walked to the window, and the owl dropped a letter. Suddenly, Li Xin had an epiphany, handing a Lira to the owl. The owl’s disdainful look subtly changed to one of flattery. It gracefully twisted its neck, elegantly stepped back two paces, and bowed while flapping its wings, before taking off backwards in a smooth, noble series of moves, like an owl from aristocratic lineage.
Not until the owl disappeared from sight did Li Xin close his gaping mouth. He still preferred the original, rebellious version of it.
Opening the letter, Li Xin suddenly beamed with joy, glancing at the next room, and then jumped out of the window.
Young people have hearts that chase the moon.
Fine wine, a beautiful woman, moonlight... unnecessary.
From Christie, Li Xin learned the specific situation at the Royal Palace. The two were entangled passionately, deeply embracing and discussing serious matters.
Li Xin had become accustomed to Christie’s peculiar habit, not knowing how she managed to keep her thoughts clear and responses heated. His mind, on the other hand, was sometimes on, sometimes short-circuited.
During the intermission, Li Xin’s mind reconnected, "Doesn’t that mean we’re in a pretty dangerous situation too?"
Prince Oliver gaining power meant that the Zheng Family’s mad dog would start biting, and as the voice of public opinion, the Hex Bird Report was definitely a key target.
"This King shouldn’t be underestimated. He ascended amidst turmoil, gradually stabilizing his position; lacking means is impossible. Prince Oliver may have won this time, but before the Earth Mother Goddess’s Grand Ceremony, neither would make significant moves, as it concerns the national destiny." Christie’s sultry voice echoed.
"I’ve always wondered, if the Earth Mother Goddess Court supports Oliver, and Oliver is so fierce, why haven’t they acted against the King all these years?" Li Xin gestured, thinking that if they could commit such heinous acts, they wouldn’t be kind-hearted and moral.
"Want to know?" Christie suddenly asked seductively.
Such a flawless woman, teasing and withholding, could drive anyone crazy. They now had a great understanding, and Li Xin lifted Christie to the window.
Looking out at the night, ready for anything.
Whenever the moment was critical, Christie wanted to savor it, seeking stimulation, while Li Xin’s mind was full of ideas.
Oh, how they loved it.
Beneath the red moon, the sea surged with waves, one higher than the last, tirelessly crashing. Sometimes they separated, sometimes they merged, as if weeping and lamenting, and together with Li Xin, Christie always opened herself completely.
"The Moncalleta Kingdom is prosperous and enduring largely because they possess the secret treasure left from ancient times, the Golden Tree. It ranks among the top five treasures on the Dao Yuan Continent. It’s speculated that the Golden Tree retained some divine power. The Golden Tree is rooted in Moncalleta, acting as the kingdom’s guardian and lifeline, and the King’s fate is linked with it. Any misfortune resulting in the King’s unexpected death or suicide would cause the Golden Tree to wither and lose its power. Even if Oliver wanted to, the Earth Mother Goddess Court would never allow it." Christie said, "The Earth Mother Goddess Court’s strength is closely tied to the Golden Tree and the kingdom."
"So, from the Earth Mother Goddess Court’s perspective, the ideal scenario is for the King to step down and let a more worthy successor take over?" Li Xin looked down at Christie, whose fair skin glistened with beads of sweat, and couldn’t help but lick.
Christie’s body shivered, "The Earth Temple thinks so, but it’s not feasible. Even if the King steps down, Prince Oliver has already lost the Golden Tree’s recognition and can no longer be King. They probably seek to maintain a balance, but we don’t know what Prince Oliver intends to do. Rumor has it he secretly contacted the Song of Hell and reached an agreement, take it... gently."
They caught their breath, Christie halted Li Xin’s actions, continuing, "No matter how Oliver seems, he won’t willingly be a puppet. Both sides are testing the limits, and from what we can see, the Court’s indulgence towards Oliver is beyond imagination. They must know Oliver is the Inner Demon, yet they do nothing. Even with the Evil God’s blood fetus appearing, there’s still no action. If the King continues investigating, he’ll likely face more pressure from the Court, unable to withstand it. If he gives up, it would all be for naught. Justice would become a joke, and he’d only end up a puppet in the future."
