I Have a Dice Left by a God-Chapter 337 - 204: Perfumer
The situation is worse than Li Xin and Christie’s expectations; the attack from Oliver and the Zheng Family has arrived. Such half-truth rumors are the most lethal, especially now with newspapers, many people who are unaware of the truth can easily be misled. If not for the King’s reputation for fairness and the many things he’s accomplished over the years, there would have been uproar long ago. But if the King fails to realize the severity of the situation and misjudges the situation, it could be extremely harmful.
Li Xin glanced at Ma Liu, who bowed his head; his master was the biggest accomplice in this incident.
Li Xin didn’t say anything. Ma Liu’s current situation bears no witness to anything, and he no longer resembles the former genius gourmet. Also, the evidence’s weight in the current situation is insufficient. The key lies with the King; rumors must not be allowed to spread unchecked. It’s not to underestimate the King’s and the Celestial Principle School’s acuity, but like Oliver, they have been in power for a long time, and the longer the rumors ferment, the greater the damage.
The Zheng Family is quite insidious and ruthless in their tactics.
"You all continue; I’m going back to write. The manuscript for next week is not ready," Li Xin said.
"Good luck, Master Xin, treat us to drinks when you receive your manuscript fee," laughed Old Fang and others.
"Drinks on the expensive side."
Li Xin missed the manuscript fee a bit; the president said there would be a big one, and he hoped it would be a substantial gesture—can’t lose the reputation of a big stallion. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Returning to the room, Li Xin hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign, closed the windows, and lay on the bed, entering the realm under the firmament. There was a new figure on the high-backed chair of the Gemini.
In the Royal Palace, Estella was chatting with her mother. She knew her mother’s mood was certainly not good, and she had learned from Arthur that rumors about the banquet were spreading inside the palace. Although a gag order had been issued, such matters can’t be entirely contained.
Her father, the King, dealt with state affairs calmly early in the morning as if nothing had happened. She truly wondered how he managed it.
"Self-punishment edict?" Estella was stunned. "How can this be, Father... Father..."
Estella didn’t know what to say. Though her father was very strict, deep down, Estella held great respect for him. In her eyes, he was the best King, working late every day, meticulous and strict. At least, she knew her grandfather could not achieve this. Issuing a self-punishment edict would mean denying all of her father’s past efforts and would be a significant blow to him. The key is that the Inner Demon was clearly orchestrated by her uncle.
"Mother, this would be a wrongful death, clearly..."
Queen Kelly stroked Estella’s head, "Currently, there’s no better way; you know your father’s temper well. Of course, he’s also discussing with the Grand Scholars on how to best handle the situation. Regardless, it’s unforeseen that William would become like this. One shouldn’t judge people on appearances."
Estella bowed her head. Among the many nobles, she had a very good impression of Marquis William—gentle character, humorous speech, generous and uncompetitive; it was hard not to like him. Her father also adhered to the principle of trusting those in authority, giving plenty of power to both the Celestial Principle School and Marquis William.
Estella knew this wasn’t an easy decision. She didn’t know how to advise, and her first thought was Mr. Gemini. Mr. Gemini should have a solution. She was ready to find an opportunity to sneak away when suddenly her Divine Relic began to tremble.
"Mother, I’d like to go back and ponder over it, see if I can help relieve father’s burden," Estella said.
Queen Kelly smiled with love on her peerless face; she knew Estella couldn’t help much but did not stop her. "Go ahead, if you have any thoughts, tell me."
Estella saluted and left, quickly running back to her own palace, instructing Arthur to guard outside. She shut the door, with the free Chris sneaking out for air, while Keli raised her head seeing Estella return, meowed once, then lazily lay down again. During the day, Keli generally doesn’t want to move.
After gently touching Keli’s head, Estella lay on the bed, entered the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc, just as Li Xin was preparing to leave, the starry sky twinkled, Miss Aries arrived.
"Miss Aries, good afternoon," Li Xin stood up.
"Mr. Gemini, good afternoon," Estella also stood, still slightly breathless. "I was just about to find you."
"Then it may be for the same matter," Li Xin said. "What happened yesterday?"
"I wasn’t involved in yesterday’s events, but I know most of what happened," Estella controlled her emotions and recounted the banquet incident. "Mr. Gemini, we’ve been deceived."
Li Xin thought for a moment; what Christie said was generally the same. "Prince Oliver arrived perfectly on time, indicating there are spies within the palace."
"Spies?" Estella asked in surprise.
"Indeed, I suggest checking the palace thoroughly; such matters can easily go awry," Li Xin said, not because of foresight, but as palace intrigues often involve infiltration; based on Oliver’s subtle methods, the palace must be compromised. "What does Your Majesty plan to do?"
"There’s the intention to issue a self-punishment edict," Estella said, her voice slightly low. "Mr. Gemini, is there a way to resolve it without issuing a self-punishment edict? My father has painstakingly tried to be a good King; this would negate him as a King entirely."
In history, issuing a self-punishment edict tends to label one as a foolish monarch, none of whom ever had a good ending. Even if there are achievements, they will eventually be forgotten over time, leaving only the self-punishment edict eternally nailed to the pillar of shame in history books.
"Miss Aries, let’s think of a solution together, first clarify the whole situation. Prince Oliver’s method of controlling these people isn’t Dark Cuisine. We’ve been misled. On one hand, some were caught with leverage, and on the other hand, something played a huge role," Li Xin said, explaining the effects of oils and perfumes from the Celestial Fragrance Workshop. "This was what misled us; unfortunately, the news came a step too late."
Estella was also stunned. "I know the Celestial Fragrance Workshop is very, very famous; however, I don’t like using perfume, neither does Keli or Chris, so no one around us uses it."
"The Earth Mother Goddess Court, in essence, helps Oliver in this matter, using perfume to pacify the families of the Inner Demon’s victims, preventing them from complaining everywhere," Li Xin said. "That’s what we traced, seeing the state of those individuals—how could they share the same perfume from a high-end workshop, but didn’t think of it as control. It’s said the court has an ancient profession called Perfumer."
Estella also fell into contemplation. She certainly understood the seriousness of this matter—Earth Mother Goddess Court... so biased towards her uncle?
This means they fully know what her uncle is doing. If they didn’t interfere, they could barely claim non-intervention in royal power struggles, but with the appearance of the Perfumer, this matter equates to direct involvement, presumably started a long time ago.
