Chapter 537: Chapter 537: Battle

Song Jian had been in the room for half an hour when Pike, the goblin, came in with a large tray containing Song’s dinner.

“Roasted deer meat: Food, Use effect: Recovers 500 Vitality Points in 30 seconds. Must be consumed in a non-combative state. If consumed for more than 15 seconds, you will achieve a fully satiated effect, increasing both physical strength and Spirit Points by 2, lasting 1 hour.”

“Gingerbread: Food, Use effect: Recovers 450 Vitality Points in 30 seconds. Must be consumed in a non-combative state. If consumed for more than 15 seconds, you will achieve a fully satiated effect, increasing strength by 3, lasting 1 hour.”

“Honey wine: Beverage, Use effect: Recovers 300 Spirit Points in 30 seconds. Must be consumed in a non-combative state. If consumed for more than 15 seconds, you will achieve a fully satiated effect, enhancing Spirit Point recovery speed by 30%, lasting 1 hour.”

“These are some good food attributes, especially the honey wine. It recovers 600 Spirit Points in 30 seconds and gives a fully satiated effect. If consumed before a battle, you can still enjoy the effect of a 30% increase in Spirit Point recovery speed during a fight,” Song Jian said with a look of pleasure on his face.

What mattered most is that the honey wine was inexpensive here. All together, these three items only cost 600 Doomsday Coins. Song Jian estimated that if he could sell honey wine in Doomsday City, he could sell a single bottle for more than 500 Doomsday Coins.

A single item slot can carry up to 200 units of the same item. If Song Jian wasn’t busy with other tasks, he could stockpile thousands of bottles of honey wine and easily make a two to three times profit upon selling them in Doomsday City.

Just then, an explosion sounded from outside the inn, and the room slightly shook. Startled, Song Jian quickly looked out the window.

The black-cloaked beastman Song Jian had seen before was fighting two others. The black beastman kept trying to distance himself while casting Shadow Magic on the two adventurers. Both adventurers retaliated with sword qi reaching five to six meters long, pressuring the beastman. He was making roaring noise in anger and confusion.

“Scum of Death God’s Fang, dare to ambush me! I will make you pay dearly for offending the Shadow Council Alliance!” roared the beastman.

“Sorada, hand over the Shadow Crystal you have, and we might spare your life!” a warrior in chainmail armor demanded sternly.

“Hand over the Shadow Crystal, or die!” the other warrior—a female—laid out their only two options. It would have been impossible to guess her sex had she not spoken; her attire did nothing to betray her gender.

“Why should I hand over the crystal we fought hard to obtain from the dragon’s minions, to a pack of jackals like you!” Sorada roared, gripping a Magic Staff as though it were a warrior’s weapon and lunged at them.

Just then, Song Jian heard some noise from the neighboring room—someone had seemed to have jumped out of the window.

Two of Sorada’s companions leaped down from mid-air, landing beside him.

One of the two was a man dressed in an elegant red suit, looking extremely handsome save for the pair of fangs protruding from his lips that ruined his appearance.

The other one was a tall woman wearing a crown of thorns. Her clothes, made from woven vines, were rather revealing, merely covering private parts. Her body was somewhat visible amidst the entanglement of the vines.

Upon seeing Sorada’s two companions, the two warriors of Death God’s Fang hesitated and took two steps back.

Both parties stood facing each other on the street, and for a while, even the air seemed to stagnate.

“Actually, we don’t have to…” began the warrior who initially demanded the Shadow Crystal. He fell silent for a moment before continuing.

Chichichi~

The moment he opened his mouth, the vine-dressed woman waved her hand, and a circle of pale green light radiated from her hand.

Several dark green vines tipped with thorns shot up from the ground, like pythons, pouncing towards the two warriors.

“Why waste breath? If you want the Shadow Crystal, show us that you have the skills.” With a stern shout, the vine-dressed woman began controlling the dark green vines, continually altering their attack direction.

“I am thirsty for the taste of your blood,” murmured the vampire-like man beside the beastman. With those words, he unsheathed a short sword from his waist. His body seemed to teleport, and he appeared instantly in front of one of the warriors of Death God’s Fang.

“Damn! It’s a Shadow Assassin!”

“Run! We are no match for them…”

Red light suddenly burst forth from the warriors, looking like flames. The force from the qi caught the vampire, who was about to stab his dagger into his victim, off guard and sent him flying. He managed to steady himself in mid-air and made a threatening gesture at the two warriors, floating like a bird.

“Do you really want to be enemies with the Death God’s Fang?” The warrior, shrouded in red qi, shouted angrily, but the spectators could hear the fear in her voice.

“Kill them all!” The beastman roared, his staff aloft. He slammed it onto the ground. An explosion. A crevice appeared where the staff struck, and hot magma poured out. A claw covered in scales reached out and gripped the edge of the crevice before a huge figure leaped out.

“Oh, my God, a demon!”

“What the hell is that? It’ll destroy the town!”

Onlookers were frightened at the sight of the creature that emerged and scrambled in every direction.

“Damn it, Sorada, how could you summon a Hell Demon here!” complained the vine-dressed woman angrily.

“Oh, Sorada, you’ll destroy this town,” chimed the vampire man with a mischievous smile on his face.

“Run!” The two warriors exchanged a glance and immediately turned tail and ran towards the town gates.

“Chase them! I want to tear them to shreds and banish their souls to burn in the flames of Hell for 10,000 years!” roared the beastman. Enraged to the point of madness, he started chasing the warriors.

“Sorada’s lost his mind again; we need to follow him. Why did I have to end up in a group with him?” the vine-dressed woman complained angrily. Vines sprouted from the ground, raising her up, and carrying her like she was flying.

“This way is more interesting, isn’t it?” The vampire man chuckled, shaking his blood-red robe. He looked like a large bird as he flew after the beastman.
