Chapter 609: Chapter 609: No Other Choice

Eagle Yang watched as Song Jian broke through the Soul Destruction Array, grit his teeth, and released the longbow he had been charging, a long metal arrow covered in magic patterns. The arrow whistled sharply and shot towards Song Jian.

The whole arrow exuded dazzling white light, like a meteor, dragging a long, hot tail, leaving an afterimage that could not dissipate for several seconds in the air.

Thud~

Eagle Yang spouted a mouthful of blood. He released the skill when it had only been charged two-thirds of the way, and therefore naturally suffered some backlash. But his condition was much better than Eagle Speed’s; he merely coughed up blood and the backlash damage was negligible.

Despite sustaining backlash damage, a shadowy smile spread across Eagle Yang’s face.

“Comet fall! Even if it’s only charged two-thirds, you can’t withstand this arrow~” Eagle Yang’s mouth curled upward as he looked expectantly at Song Jian.

This shot was equivalent to a long-range heavy sniper rifle, consuming more than half of Eagle Yang’s Spirit Points. It was originally intended to be fully charged over a period of fifteen seconds. However, despite being released in just ten seconds, the shot dealt a whopping damage exceeding one thousand points.

On the other side, Eagle Fly was shrouded with black mist. His eyes were bloodshot and a bizarre symbol appeared on his forehead. In front of him, towering black flames soared upwards. A black crack split open at the center of the magic array, from which a beastly roar emanated. A claw covered in purple-black scales extended from the crack, gripping the edge of the magic array as it struggled to free itself.

Upon breaking the Soul Destruction Array, Song Jian was neither surprised nor alarmed at the damage he had caused. Instead, with a forward momentum, he charged towards the three men.

Having made only two strides forward, Song Jian suddenly felt a tightness over his skin, as a chill rose up from his tailbone, reaching the back of his head in an instant. Song Jian felt as though a fierce beast was pouncing on him. Its fangs were already touching his forehead. The breath of death was bearing down on him.

A brilliant white arrow, trailing a lengthy tail as if a comet, rushed towards Song Jian at an incredible speed, leaving a long hollow image in the air.

Sacred Parry!

Song Jian instinctively swung the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword forward. He immediately felt a tremendous impact against it which sent a numbing sensation up his arm and made the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword tremble violently. Song Jian himself was thrown backward.

Bang!

As Song Jian skidded along the metal wall, he crashed into the floor. Half of his body was numb and he had no idea when the Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword had slipped from his palm and embedded diagonally into the wall of the adjacent metal passage.

Song Jian coughed up a mouthful of blood. At that moment, his whole body emitted golden light, with countless tiny particles falling from him and dissipating in the air.

Eagle Yang, mouth agape, watched as Song Jian managed to get up, using one hand to support his entire body on the ground while the other hung limply at his side. His eyes, like those of a wolf, stared fiercely at Eagle Fly, and a trace of crazed laughter appeared on his face.

Song Jian could now estimate the opponent’s power level based on the feeling he had from using Sacred Parry. He knew that the damage from Eagle Yang’s last move was at least over a thousand points. He stared ahead intently, wanting to see whether Eagle Yang could withstand his attack.

A brilliant white long arrow suddenly appeared out of thin air from mid-air. About to launch itself at Eagle Yang, it replayed the entire scenario when Eagle Yang stored his attack.

“Rebound damage, can it even rebound a long-range attack? How is this possible…” Eagle Yang’s face was filled with fear. He couldn’t believe one day he would bear the brunt of his own most powerful hit.

“No!” Eagle Yang let out a horrified roar, a desperate look in his eyes.

At that moment, he suddenly noticed Eagle Speed, limp on the ground in front of him. An insidious look flashed across his eyes and with a swift kick, he sent Eagle Speed hurtling towards the incoming arrow.

“Big brother, you…” Eagle Fly’s eyes displayed surprise and his hand, which was summoning the abyss demon, trembled unconsciously.

Eagle Yang didn’t reply and stared ahead, his face pale.

Eagle Speed was currently in a state of skill backlash, his body weak and all attributes reduced by 70%. His vitality points were less than one-third of the original. Under such conditions, not to mention taking a hit from Eagle Yang’s full-strength assault, he wouldn’t be able to withstand even a normal attack.

Boom~

An explosive noise echoed as Eagle Speed was blasted to pieces. A look of disbelief crossed Eagle Yang’s face.

“He can actually rebound skill damage…” Eagle Yang shouted involuntarily.

From the time he entered the game up until now, Eagle Yang had never seen anyone who could fully rebound an opponent’s attack back onto them. It was beyond his imagination.

“So it wasn’t an illusion…” Eagle Yang lowered his head, looking at Eagle Speed’s mutilated corpse, a feeling of fear welling up in his heart as he wiped the cold sweat off his forehead.

At that moment, a demon of the abyss, its body ablaze with grey flames, wriggled its way out of the magic array before Eagle Fly.

“The Abyss watches you!” The demon of the abyss, standing nearly three meters tall, with two legs, winged back, and a fearsome face stood in the middle of the magic summoning array, roaring towards the sky.

After summoning the abyss demon, Eagle Fly backed a few steps, standing on one side of the metal passage. Intentionally or not, he created a distance between himself and Eagle Yang.

“Kill him, and you will receive a reward in return!” Eagle Fly coldly stated.

The Abyss Demon turned back to look at Eagle Fly, a greedy smile spread across its ghastly face as it growled, “The soul of this man is not considered as part of the reward!”

“Third brother, cooperate with this Abyss Demon to kill this guy as soon as possible!” Eagle Yang glanced at Eagle Fly and whispered.

“Big brother, having summoned this Abyss Demon, I’ve exhausted all my Spirit Points and only have less than half of my Vitality Points left. I’m out of strength to continue the fight.” Eagle Fly glanced at Eagle Yang, his expression cold, and wariness flickered in his eyes.

“Third brother, I had no choice earlier…” Eagle Yang’s face was horribly gloomy.

“I know, big brother.” Eagle Fly had quietly closed all his attributes by then.

In fact, he had not exhausted all his Spirit Points. He still had at least one-third remaining, and he had more than eighty percent of Vitality Points left. But the motions Eagle Yang made earlier deeply chilled his heart, making him wary and cautious of his older brother.

“Alright then, third brother, take a rest at the back. Me and this Abyss Demon are enough to kill him. Afterwards, we will share the mission reward equally!” Eagle Yang turned back, a strong intent to kill flashing in his eyes.
