I Maxed Out My Luck Stat-Chapter 20: Nuked
Moments Earlier...
The little runt of the Six Eyes of Infinity still had his cloak on as he diligently watched the distortion in space.
His brilliant blue eyes and shades of white hair that leaked out of his disguise made it clear that he wasn’t like the others. However, the moment he noticed the streaks of his hair leaking out, he tucked the strands in and sighed heavily.
It had been an entire hour since he stood watch, and nothing had happened.
’This isn’t an ordinary lag...’
Lags—delay in activation of the ability—sometimes occurred with Principal Dispositions.
However, the phenomenon was so rare, and it usually occurred among the inexperienced Disposition Holders who sought to transcend their current limits. When one had a limited understanding of their abilities, they tended to be reckless or try things that had either never been done before or required the special attention of the Akashic Records.
This caused a delay in activation, as the Akashic Records sought to fully identify the situation and resolve it while maintaining balance.
It could be compared to a game crashing or glitching due to some coding errors.
This world was one large system.
Naturally, it operated based on laws which could be referred to as codes.
Principal Dispositions added new variables to the mix, but sometimes these variables could be too much and would thus affect the desired outcome.
This caused a Lag to appear.
During the early periods of Disposition Holders, long before the 5th Great Cataclysmic War, there were a lot more Lags. However, as people got more accustomed to Principal Dispositions, and it became embedded in their daily lives, these Lags reduced.
This was because the Akashic Records kept fixing the Lags by adding what people like Richard would refer to as ’patches’ in the world.
As a result, Lags were very rarely seen in the current world.
Yet—
"When will this end? I just want all of this to be over. Although I am sort of relieved that I don’t have to participate in whatever they are putting that boy through right now..."
Right as the runt thought about this, a brilliant light shone before him.
"Guh!" He had to shield his face from the light, and after a few seconds of enduring the radiance, the world finally dimmed.
Upon opening his eyes, he saw what had been summoned.
"Hm?" The runt cocked his head to the side. "What the hell is this?"
The object—which seemed like a container of some kind—had a strange shape, with an odd metallic gleam to it. Although it had a weird, almost funny appearance, there was an ominous feel to it that he couldn’t explain.
’But... This is weird. Wasn’t the ability [Basic Summoning]? Why can’t I recognize this item?’
The runt thought about this for a moment before shrugging it aside.
He didn’t have the answer.
’The Boss probably understands. He must have told me to watch over the Lag for this reason...’
Since he was told to bring the item back, he picked up the vessel.
"Urgh... So heavy!"
He couldn’t believe how such a moderately sized container could weigh so much.
After trying hard to lift it many times, he finally gave up on doing it normally. The thing was simply too heavy for someone like him to handle on his own.
Still—
"I’ll just have to put my Mystic Objects to good use!"
Beneath his long cloak was a ring that had a certain azure jewel atop it. Once he activated the power within it, the runt began to float in the air.
Indeed!
What the Boss and the other members of his team thought to be his Principal Disposition was actually the effect of a Mystic Object.
’Then, for strength...’ He activated yet another Mystic Object which came in the form of his belt.
Suddenly, he felt like he could carry anything.
’I should be able to lift this with my current physical ability, but... ahh... I haven’t been able to recover the energy I used last time. I wonder how long this strengthening effect will last.’
Realizing that if he continued thinking about such a thing, more time would be wasted, the runt decided to once again shove those thoughts aside. Instead, he shifted his focus to the object before him and began to lift it.
Just as he suspected, there was no issue whatsoever.
’Now then—’
WHOOSH!
He ascended to the sky, his body feeling lightweight despite carrying such a weighty object.
’The base isn’t that far, so it shouldn’t—’
Right as he was in flight, now rapidly moving towards the stalactite cave, he felt his strength rapidly draining from his body.
"Oh no... This is bad!" The strengthening effect ran out much quicker than he expected.
The sudden weight was too much for him.
Unable to hold on to the metallic container, the runt’s grip slipped, and it rapidly fell.
However, it didn’t touch the ground.
Instead, the whole thing detonated precisely 580 meters from the ground.
There was silence for a moment.
Then—
KABLOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
A mushroom cloud of unimaginable proportions appeared in place of the rather small object, creating an unbelievable mass of destructive energy.
It swept through everything in the Mountain Range, leveling everything with radioactive fires and powerful shock waves. The devastation was so massive that it completely altered everything in the atmosphere and stratosphere for miles.
It was... chaos incarnate.
Almost as though the God of Death itself had descended upon the world.
Yes...
This was the power of such a bomb.
It produced a yield of approximately 15 kilotons of TNT, equivalent to 26,000,000 pounds of high explosives, with a blast radius of approximately 1.8 kilometers of total destruction.
But that wasn’t all.
Since it detonated at exactly 580 meters above ground, it not only caused severe damage within a 1.8-kilometer radius and created intense fires, but it also devastated over 5 square miles of the entire mountain range.
Everything was leveled, causing an even greater chain reaction in the environment.
Avalanches, among other destructive phenomena, began to manifest—all of them answering the call of a single great power. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Miles from the point of impact, tremors and immense radiation lingered.
The damage was too great.
This was the demonic entity that Richard had summoned into this world.
—A Nuke!
