I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 133: Soul Legion
After slapping the mark of Soul Slave on Zach, Blaze lets him go. He has no other useful information that Blaze can extract anymore. Blaze knows exactly what he is from inside to outside. All that is left is to complete Blaze’s legion.
That’s right. He is going to make an army of Soul Warriors. There is absolutely no reason for him to make use of these souls inside the Lantern of the Damned.
The redeemable one, he can grant them a new identity and body so that they can fix their mistakes.
The not-so-evil one, he can make them into his eyes in the sky, joining Isaac’s scout team.
The sinful one, like Zach here, was only lost on their way. They can join the army of the souls that Blaze is creating.
The irredeemable one, well, there is only one end for them. That is to become Blaze’s experience.
Blaze has time, and he doesn’t have anything better to do. He begins to binge-watch the lives of all the souls inside his Lantern.
He has a combination of them in there. Criminals and Cops are two different factions that should not be joining together in any way.
But they did. Both in life and in death. Now they are nothing more than prisoners of Blaze.
This takes way more time than Blaze thought it would.
A few days later.
Blaze sneaks out of the house at night without alarming Kana. On his way out, he sees Zero running back home.
Its form looks very tight and strong now. Without any of the wobbling from before.
Blaze is just going to keep walking, but a notification suddenly pops up.
[Your Strength has permanently increased by 1. Source: Legion of One.]
[Your Agility has permanently increased by 1. Source: Legion of One.]
[Your Stamina has permanently increased by 1. Source: Legion of One.]
[Your Endurance has permanently increased by 1. Source: Legion of One.]
"Holy..." Blaze can’t help himself and blurts out loud.
Four of his attributes have increased. Even though it changed by a mere single unit. But Zero has only trained for a few days. Just imagine what the result will be if Blaze has a group of clones going around doing exercises for eternity.
He silently adds one more thing that needs to be done to the list and then dashes off into the darkness.
He returns to the desert again. The crevice from before has become even bigger underneath, creating an almost cave-like system that is completely covered by the ground above.
A few days earlier, when Blaze tested Thunder Wrath, the thunderstorm had somehow leveled the ground around the crevice, making a natural thick and protective layer of dirt and rock upon the crevice.
Now, he has a cave that leads to many parts of the desert and is also very secretive, making it hard for passersby to notice the entrance.
Blaze suddenly has an idea of making this cave system his new home base or safehouse. He obviously can’t do anything at home with Kana always around. He also can’t run back and forth from the city and the desert every day.
Blaze adds another thing that needs to be done to the list: making a base in the desert. He already has the perfect name for it. The Crevice.
Blaze throws this task to the back of his head and gets on with what’s important right now, creating a legion of spectral warriors.
He wasted a few days to look through all the trapped souls inside his Lantern. All 137 souls.
He has made a list of everyone and their designated sentence.
It is odd that even though almost all of the people inside did evil deeds, they aren’t entirely bad. They had their reasons to do what they did. Not that it justifies what they’re doing, but that gives a lot of context for Blaze to decide.
Seventy-two of them have done unspeakable acts that Blaze deems unforgivable. Forty of them have been fed to the Lantern to increase the slots of Ethereal Soul. Blaze keeps the remaining thirty-two inside the Lantern and burns. He can’t let his Lantern feel lonely and without souls.
These remaining thirty-two are also the most evil and despicable, so letting them burn is a deserved sentence.
Next are the souls that simply lost their way or were forced to take the evil path. This group has some goons in the Roof that was raised in the horrible environment or forced into slavery by Cavalcante and his associates. The other part are the cops that were blackmailed by Adam into working for him or had some of their loved ones threatened.
This group has the most number of souls, a whopping amount of fifty-one souls. Blaze is going to turn every single one of them into a Soul Warrior. This process is going to take a while and a lot of willpower from Blaze, but he intends to convert all of them.
These people are sinners, that is sure. Even if they were forced into this path. But the people they hurt were innocent too. Blaze pities them, but he won’t be soft. They choose to compromise in the end and join the dark side.
Blaze ignores this group for now and moves to the next group.
The next group is the redeemable one. These are the people that did evil deeds but have quality and kindness that Blaze is able to see. They may not be innocent, but they aren’t completely evil either. Similar to Isaac in the beginning. For these people, Blaze turns them into a crow army to watch this city for him.
In death, they will prove useful to make up for what they did in the past.
This group has the least number of souls. Only eleven souls in total. But Blaze has only five Ethereal slots left.
Blaze materializes the souls into their human forms and then calls down Isaac.
"Here are the new recruits. There are five available spots. You can take a look at them; pick any one you like. They are all suitable for the job." Blaze says.
"I’ll understand, Master." Isaac bows his small crow head and then hops over to the group of souls that are staring at him with curiosity. "Listen here! My name is Isaac. I will be choosing eyes and ears for our master.
If you don’t get picked, you will return to the Lantern. Does anyone want to return to the Lantern?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
All the souls shake their heads profusely. They may be free from <Soul Flare> and not get their soul burned, but it is a lonely, empty cell inside the Lantern. No one wants to stay in it.
"Then do your best while answering my questions. Treat this as a job interview. Everyone understood?"
"Sir, yes, sir!" It is also a coincidence that this group of souls consists mainly of cops, so their reaction is very militarized.
Blaze nods while observing Isaac, approving his method. Now that the Scout is being dealt with. He will now continue to the last group.
The people that are innocent.
