I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 134: The Innocents

There are only three people that Blaze deems are innocent. One of them is a woman. The rest are two men.

The two men, one from the Roof while the other belongs to the Police Force.

He first takes out the soul of the male police officer. Similar to Mitsuhiro, this man was from Ori, another continent that is separated from Ranas by the Strait of Kiba.

The soul flies out of the Lantern and materializes into the appearance of the police officer he sees himself in. Funnily enough, the man sees himself wearing a bloody police uniform.

Blaze has seen a lot of souls holding onto their job and thus, having their soul wearing the police uniform. But this man is different. Other trapped souls have their police uniform worn carelessly outside their actual comfort clothes. But this man has no inner self, and his bloody police uniform is who he actually sees himself in.

Blaze has seen his memory, so he knows very well the reason for this.

This man was no crooked cop. He is actually a mole from another department that was assigned under Adam to take him down. The police uniform shows that he has never forgotten this but knows his path wasn’t cleaned. He had seen too many issues that he was not able to prevent.

And thus, his police uniform is not clean but bloody.

"Lee Jae-joong. Welcome back to the land of the living." Blaze says.

Jae-joong is still trying to process everything. His wide eyes look at himself and then divert to the surrounding scene.

This is no longer the Police Headquarters.

Jae-joong sees Blaze in his Tattered Cloak form.

"You are... the Wraith?"

"That is who I am."

"Am I dead?"

"Yes, you are."

"You have the power to manipulate the souls of the dead?"

"Eh... Not really. Let me explain to you what is going on. Take a walk with me."

Blaze and Jae-joong walk along the long, expanding path of the dark cave. Jae-joong can see Isaac interviewing the group of souls, some he is even able to recognize. They were former colleagues of his at the ACPD.

"What are they doing?"

"Those are the sinful souls that lost their way but had a chance to be redeemed. My raven is currently choosing some that are suitable to be my eyes and ears."

"I see." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"So. Let me be straight. I’ve read your memory. I know you are a spy that was sent by another department to monitor Adam and take him down.

Unfortunately, you are a bit slow. I already made him commit suicide in front of everyone.

First, I apologize that my servant has killed you. It is not my intention, but you know the deal, all bullets are blind in battle."

"You can even read memory... How did Adam even piss someone like you off?

And hey, believe me, there are no hard feelings between us. I already accepted to die any second when I took this job."

"And I am here to tell you that I can resurrect you. Return you to the land of the living."

"What’s the catch?"

Blaze lets out an unsettling laugh.

"Why does everyone always ask me that? There is no catch."

"But I know you can read memory. I know you can resurrect the dead. And I even see what you’re trying to do with those souls. I won’t even let me go if I were you."

"Don’t worry, Mister Lee. If I can read your memory, I can adjust it. I would simply erase any information that can cause harm to me."

Blaze does have this power. He used it to make William D’Angelo have a change of heart. He won’t be needing to make any similar adjustment to Jae-joong and can simply erase his memory.

"But why are you asking me this? You can just simply do it, right?"

"Right. But I saw how capable you are, Mister Lee. And I saw what you wanted most in this world. I need people, Mister Lee.

Strong and smart people that can help me change this world."

"And you want me to join you?"

"That’s right, Mister Lee. But hey, I am being honest here. This is an invitation, not an order. If you refuse, I will just erase your memory and then resurrect you. You will find yourself in Akansa City when you wake up."

"I see. But you know very well that I won’t just walk away. You saw my memory. So you must have seen him.

I want more power, Wraith. More power to kill him myself. Can you grant me that power?"

"For now, I can’t. But believe me that I can give you the opportunity to become more powerful. I think you have a greater chance with me rather than returning to your old organization.

That corrupt and greasy organization that you come from."

Jae-joong lets out a huge sigh. He is very tempted. But he doesn’t know if this is the right choice. Joining the Wraith may very well be an even worse fate than returning to the old organization.

But he has a blood debt in his life that he needs to take revenge for. Blaze can help him do that. This is an offer he can’t refuse.

"You got me, Wraith." Jae-joong reaches out his hand for a handshake. "What do you need me to do?"

"Well, for now, just return to your old life."

"You will resurrect me anyway?"

"Of course, you deserve your life back. I will be in touch when I need you."

And then Blaze grabs his head. It is a mutual partnership, that is sure, but Blaze has to make sure he won’t betray him, so a soul slave mark is inevitable.

Then, by wasting a mere 50 experience points, purple energy pours out from Blaze’s body to make a perfect replica of Jae-joong’s body.

[Please name your new clone!]

"Lee Jae-joong."

[New clone is registered. Your Soul Slave Lee Jae-joong has taken control of your clone.]

"And now, Mister Lee, you are no longer a lost soul withoit a body."

Blaze turns Jae-joong into the yellow fireball and then merges him into the clone.

He opens his eyes again, but now, he has a warm physical body instead of the transparent soul from before.
