Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Mythomacy

Damian accepts Blaze’s offer in the end. Now he has two pairs of eyes that he can use in the real world. They will prove to be useful in the future.

After giving Damian a new body, Blaze gives Norman a call so that he can have somebody pick them up at the border of the desert.

Obviously, he can’t expose the location of the Crevice, so he puts these two inside the Stone Storage and uses Lightning Ascension to quickly reach the border and drop them off.

Damian and Jae-joong both have a slave mark. But Blaze can never be too sure. If he has a way to view their memory, others also can. So it’s best to keep this part out of their memory until Blaze reinforces this base more.

At least it needs to look like an actual base for once. But that is a job for another day.

Now, he still has things to do.

The three spells he learned from the Spellbook of the Dead were Necrosis Touch, Animated Corpse, and Dying Ray.

Blaze has not yet tried the Dying Ray.

According to the description inside the book, the Dying Ray is actually very similar to the Destruction Beam. It is almost a lower-grade version.

Both have the ability to drain life force out of the targets they hit. However, while Destruction Beam can chase their target by flying in a zig-zag. The Dying Ray is one straight laser beam.

However, it also does have abilities that the Destruction Beam doesn’t.

Blaze materializes the Destruction Wand in his right hand. This spell requires an Arcane Convergence, so he needs to use the wand to execute it.

First, Blaze focuses and uses his willpower to call forth the power of the spell. The white tip of the wand glows up instantly with a pinkish crimson color. Then, Blaze draws a circle with it.

Inside the circle, several spots of pinkish crimson manifested and slowly gathered their strength.

This is one ability that Dying Ray has that Destruction Beam doesn’t. It can shoot many beams at once.

And then, from Blaze’s mouth, the primordial sound lets out again. This spell has a short and quick release of verbal components. It has a maximum of two or three syllables at best.

The crimson circle becomes more defined. The pink spots light up and shoot out beams of light.

These are the dying rays. This spell has a colorful appearance despite its deathly nature. The rays drill into the walls of the cave and create more paths downward. The entire cave shakes a little, and dust falls off from the rough ceiling.

All the souls that are currently being interviewed by Isaac freak out. The raven is able to calm them down eventually.

"Relax, everyone. Relax! Master is only practicing his power."

"Welp..." Blaze mutters quietly so that no one else can hear.

"This cave is really fragile. I should refrain from using my powers to the full extent unless I want to wreck this place."

Suddenly, Blaze really wants to have one of those Gravity Chambers that the Awakened League has. With one of those, Blaze bets he can test his power without any restrictions.

"I can’t have the Gravity Chamber. But maybe another secluded room is better."

Blaze reaches out his hand and uses Thunder Force to dig out a large room for him, hiding from the other souls’ eyes. The yellow lightning bolt proves excellent as a drill, its electricity breaks the dirt and orange rock like nothing.

It takes Blaze more than an hour to create a subsection in the cave. He calls this the Training Arena.

Blaze tries to use Thunder Force to create an even surface too, but this task proves to be difficult. His Thunder Force is not that great for a precise endeavor such as this. But he manages to make the ground at least stay on the same level throughout.

He then takes out the last Spellbook that he possessed, the Spellbook of Fables.

[Detecting a Skill Book: Spellbook of Fables.]

[Learn?]

[Yes/No]

Spellbook of the Death helped Blaze to upgrade the Destruction Wand to Ultra Rare. He learned more about the nature of our world and many, many more knowledges. The primordial tongue. The spells and necromancy.

This book, however, Blaze doesn’t really know what it will bring him. Fables are different from fairy tales. Usually the story conveys a special message, and it won’t always be a happy ending.

The only way to know for sure is to learn it.

Blaze clicks on ’Yes’. The book lights up in a bright pink color and floats into the air. Its pages are being flipped rapidly. Their papers glow a white light, with the letters on the pages gleaming in pink. The letters and words jump out of the book and dance in the air.

A tree sprouts out from the book and takes root in the ground. It quickly expands and grows inside.

Blaze is unable to do anything while it reacts. His body is completely frozen by the power of the book. The pink light envelops him and drags him inside the tree. The dark figure of the Tattered Cloak is no more to be seen.

For an unknown amount of time, Blaze lost his consciousness and floated in a sea of darkness. Tiny sparks of light flying in this empty space.

And then suddenly, Blaze opens his eyes.

He has found himself inside a world of bright pink color. The sky is pink. The ground is pink.

In front of him hovered many white books, each representing a path of the Fables.

In contrast to magic schools like necromancy or electromancy, where their paths and powers are distinctly defined, the paths of the Fables are unique. No two magic users of the Fables are the same.

Pink energy pours from the surrounding area to the center of Blaze’s two eyebrows. The System is translating the knowledge of the book to Blaze and also helps him realize its power.

Blaze now knows the true name of this school of magic. Mythomancy.
