I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 154: Big Talk
"Force of habit, I must say." Blaze turns his head to the side, avoiding meeting Lucia’s face in the middle.
"Then the hand on my waist is the force of habit too?" Lucia snickers.
Blaze raises his hands up immediately, "Sorry about that. I needed to grab you."
"It’s alright. I understand. As a woman of war, I won’t simply be embarrassed by any of this." Lucia says, ducking her head low to hide her red, flushed face.
She doesn’t blush much. Not toward other men. And she definitely is way more stern and serious than when she is with Blaze. Something about Blaze reminds her of him. A soft spot is her steel heart that makes her melt. They are very alike.
"Tell me about your woman. That Alyson." Lucia says.
"Ah... Where to start?" Blaze is trying to come up with a story that represents his life the most without exposing his true identity. He claimed to be a wizard already, he can’t betray that fact.
"In my world, there are two types of people. One that can do magic. And one that cannot. I was... the one that cannot. Alyson, on the other hand, is a bright... wizard.
She comes from a rich family. Not the richest, but respectable and very wealthy. But for some reason, she likes me. Even when I was the loser, she was always there as my friend.
When I was being bullied, she was there to chase them away.
When I was feeling down, she was there to lift me up.
But then when she needed me, I wasn’t there."
"So now you think that you owe her and you’re going to repay her with your love, right?"
"Right."
"Don’t do it."
"Why?"
"A pity love is worse than no love at all. Women are sensitive. They can feel if you are genuine or not. She may feel happy if you answer her love... At first. But what will happen after?
Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with her? To take a vow under your god to be with each other forever?
Your personalities will clash with each other. Differences of ideas. Opposition of methods. Sooner or later your love will degrade into conflicts after conflicts."
"Sounds like you’re speaking from experience."
"I am... And when you face all of that. If you don’t have true love for the other one. You won’t have the will to be patient with them. You won’t have the will to change yourself for the other.
And then the inevitable will happen, the separation of you two."
"True love, huh? It is what I always hear you women like to speak about."
"Don’t be sexist now."
"Sorry."
Lucia takes a long, deep breath. She breathes using her diaphragm, which is better for stamina and athletic activities. However, this type of breathing makes her belly rise, touching Blaze underneath. He ignores it and acts like nothing happened. The scene is too tight and too alluring for him to focus.
He tries to take his mind off it by thinking of the ugliest, most horrible things out there. But he thinks of Lucia instead.
Her body is on top of him, and he is covered by her scent. What else can he think about?
Blaze tries to divert the conversation away.
"How about you? What happened between you and him? If you don’t mind me asking, of course."
"Ah... It’s all right. It’s no secret, actually. Everyone in my world already knows about it. You should know about it as well. He is your enemy after all."
"My enemy?"
"You worship Infera, right? Do you know his greatest enemy?"
"The Moonsworn Demon? Your lover is..."
"He’s not a demon. But he channels the demon power. Under him are more demons than any other Demon Leader out there. Some say that he is the one that is yet to come. The prophesied Chosen One that will lead the Moonsworn to their peak and create the perfect kingdom, a utopia for demons."
"There is a prophecy?"
"You don’t really go out much, do you?"
"Ha ha! I AM a nerdy wizard."
"The prophecy of the Moon. You probably know that the Sun Empire right now is only half of what it was in the past.
A long time ago, a large group of worlds was ruled by the Twilight. A god with two faces, one face of the sun and one face of the moon. But then he died. The followers of his moon face were corrupted by the demons. They were forcefully fused with the demon, creating what we now know as Moonsworn."
"And when did the Holy Church and Infera come into play?"
"Infera was the first son of the Twilight. He is the most powerful of the young gods. He rules half of the empire that his father left behind. The Moonsworn demons are greedy. They don’t just want the Moon, but also want the Sun. They think that by reuniting the two empires, a new Twilight god will be born. Or more precise, a new powerful Demon Lord.
The Holy Church stands for justice. We don’t want the Moonsworn demon to win, of course. So we and a few other factions join forces with Infera.
The war has been going on for a while now."
"And the prophecy?"
"A powerful demon once prophesied that a being that is not born a demon will become the greatest Moonsworn Lord, and with his guidance, the Moonsworn would rule the realms.
They call this Chosen One, the Moon Wraith."
"Moon... Wraith..."
Blaze stutters. He wonders if any of this is relating to him. He can’t help but think that. He has a demonic weapon, Moonlight Karambit. His name is the Wraith. Is there any chance... No, it can’t be. He has never gotten in contact with a demon before.
But there is something wrong with the story she is telling. Infera was the ruler of the Sun Empire millenniums ago. He died. He died fighting the Moonsworn Demon Lord, and the current ruler of the Sun Empire should be Cerun-Kha and the two other gods.
Lucia also uses Sun Empire, its former name, instead of its current name, True Sun Empire.
There is so much discrepancy here that Blaze doesn’t even know what to think.
"Do you know Cerun-Kha?"
"Oh? The servant of Infera? That demigod?"
"So you know him. What is he like? Is he powerful?"
"Pfftt! Powerful? Cerun-Kha is a demigod, sure, but he isn’t a god with combat abilities. He’s just Infera’s waterboy, his main mission is to fetch water for the lord."
"I see. And your lover... Is he the Moon Wraith?"
"Who knows. Maybe he is. Maybe he isn’t. But he is not my lover anymore. We aren’t meant to be. The last time we face each other will be on the battlefield. And only one of us is going to walk away."
"..."
"Why are your breaths suddenly so heavy?" Lucia says, squirming on top of Blaze.
Blaze silently screams internally, It would be better if you could STOP MOVING SO MUCH.
Her body is in contact with him, and every movement makes them feel each other’s flesh. This is not okay with Blaze. Especially since he is a man.
"Out of curiosity. What is his name?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"I just want to make sure to avoid him, you know. In case I meet him."
"Ha ha! Why do I find a bit of jealousy in your voice?" Lucia teases.
"I am not!"
"Hey now. Don’t be falling in love with me, alright? My heart is for the church now. I won’t be with another man for the rest of my life."
"Just tell me his name."
Lucia shrugs. "Fine. His name is...
BLAZE SINGER."
The answer shocks Blaze to the core. He immediately grabs Lucia’s arm and lifts her up slightly. He turns to face her, and their gazes meet each other. They are so close that Blaze can feel the warmth of her breath.
"What are you doing?! Let go of me!" Lucia squirms, trying to break free.
Blaze’s serious gaze makes her stop.
"What’s going on? What’s wrong with you? You know the guy?"
"Blaze. Singer. Blaze Singer. Did I pronounce that right?" Blaze says.
"Yes. Of course. There is no other way to pronounce it."
"Ah. I just want to be sure. B-L-A-Z-E. S-I-N-G-E-R. Is that how his name is spelled?"
"Yes. That’s right."
Lucia’s eyes widen. She looks at Blaze with a puzzled look. She doesn’t understand why he reacts so... strongly.
"What’s wrong?" She asks again.
"I haven’t introduced myself, right? Do you want to know my name?"
"I almost forgot. I still don’t know your name yet. Tell me your name then, stranger."
Blaze takes a deep breath.
"Don’t be too surprised, okay?" His voice softens.
Lucia frowns, staying silent. She still doesn’t understand what the fuss is about.
"I am... Blaze Singer." He unequips the Shadow Tattered Cloak and the Tattered Mask.
His appearance changes and returns to what it should be, the ordinary human form.
And that face. That face is something that Lucia can never mistake.
