Chapter 652: Burn It or Defend It?

Adam’s eyes narrowed, his face solemn and his voice icy. "Don’t tell me they’re acting in less than ten years."

Xian Yunxu’s face grew somber as she raised two fingers. "They’re waiting for two more to join us..." She sighed. "They’ll bring ten spiritual ascension realm masters and thousands of disciples to your doorsteps. And trust me, not even a demonic cult has a fighting chance against the qi convergence array of one hundred we’re learning."

"Shit..." A frustrated mutter escaped his lips, the formation’s effects clear just by its name. He pinched the bridge of his nose and clicked his tongue. "They’re dead set on getting what’s mine, huh? I can’t believe they’re even using a formation to condense a hundred people’s qi to form energy beasts."

"You know about it?" Xian Yunxu tilted her head, then nodded. "That saves us time. With it, we’ll have an additional ten spiritual ascension realm masters and hundreds of void refinement realm experts."

Her voice lingered for a second before she shook her head. "I’ll warn you before we depart. So please, fill your spatial rings to the brim and give the blessed land up when the time comes."

Sinking in his chair, his brows creased in a pensive frown. Give it up? The resources were great, but a vast pocket dimension with a developed ecosystem that had persisted for fifty thousand years was the veritable treasure. Just thinking about the infrastructure and cultural value, made him clench his jaws in reluctance.

Yet, Yunxu didn’t give him time to ponder and pressed with a tone filled with gravitas. "Your life’s worth much more. Don’t take unnecessary risks to save a few hundred years."

"So what? I’d rather burn it than abandon what I earned by risking my life." He snorted, his nose scrunched, and his lips twisted. Anger was too little to express his feelings. He was revolted, disgusted by those fools’ forcefulness.

"You insisted on the puppet’s power, right? You told Tianlong how it almost drowned the realm in death and misery before the void emperor sacrificed himself to seal it." He slammed his fist on the table, the pot and glasses clinking. "So, why can’t they give up?!"

"We all did, Adam. But in a cultivator’s book, beasts die for food while humans die for wealth. The rewards outweigh the risks far too much. They’ll never back down." She paused, her eyes slipping aside hesitatingly. "But please don’t burn it. The palace is a cultural treasure. It just feels... wrong."

Adam shook his head. "You see, I have two happy girls who love their princess’ rooms, ranches, and meditation chambers." His eyes narrowed as he placed a golden pill on the table. "I won’t, but they’re not getting it either. Anyway, a small token of gratitude for the map and information."

Instantly, an overwhelming medicinal blend numbed Yunxu’s nose. With a single glance, she could tell how intricately layered the plants’ essences were. And that color! It was the unmistakable yet unreachable trademark of a sun-grade pill.

Of course, the old masters of the alchemy union’s main branch could surely produce them. But give her one? Ah! She’d be lucky to even have the possibility to buy them for several dozen perfect spiritual stones—each worth five million sect points.

Yet, Adam only shrugged her stunned expression off. "You bought me a few years of peace and fixed the false assumptions the others had about me. I think it’s a fitting reward." A grin split his face as he raised his thumb. "It only reached the sixth tier, though. Anything higher of this quality would make your meridians burst."

Her fingers trembled as she picked it up like a treasure. She raised her palm, her silver eyes scanning the golden crust and the corner of her lips curling. Then, she placed it in a jade bottle and sealed the opening with a decisive nod.

"I don’t think I deserve it, but I won’t complain. Thanks for the amazing gift." She chuckled, pocketing the bottle. "Also, keep an eye on the chat. I’ll warn you the second the situation evolves."

As she rose to leave, Adam knocked on the table to draw her attention back. "Wait. How are Shen Wu, Mei Lan, and Xu Fei doing?"

"Oh! Right. I forgot about them because of the pill. Xu Fei can’t leave the disciplinary hall for another two months. On his side, Shen Wu has recovered a few kilos and resumed cultivating. Many are dissatisfied with his recovery, but I doubt anyone has time to scheme against him with the brewing chaos."

Adam sighed in relief. A four-month imprisonment for Xu Fei was indeed a light punishment considering his public outburst. As for Shen Wu? His lips bloomed into a satisfied smile.

Meanwhile, Yunxu continued. "Mei Lan is... Well, she’s facing her own problems."

He frowned. Who dared to create trouble for this angelic grandma? "What problems? Go break a few legs in my stead if people try to bully her."

She rolled her eyes, clicking her tongue. "I’ll have no time to cultivate if I do. I mean... teenagers and middle-aged men call her goddess Lan. It’s scary to see them pester her with gifts and promises of marriage. Some even wait all night before her house to be the first to greet her."

Adam’s head jerked against the back of his seat, his pupils constricting. "Wait, what?! She’s young again, but still..."

He shook his head, remembering her kindness, delicious cooking, and frozen porcelain-like beauty. Somehow, he could see how most men fell for her. "Looks like Shen Wu needs to step up his game if he wants to protect her."

Yunxu nodded, then turned. "Alright, I’m off. Thanks again for the pill."

A split second later, she disappeared from the dream place.

Adam remained seated for a few minutes, his mind racing for solutions to preserve his land now that she was gone.

Strictly speaking, he could abandon the lush forest in the outer area. He’d lose his tier six and seven beasts, all the wild plants, and the medicinal fields, but the flying island’s gardens mattered more.

His eyes narrowed at the idea of losing so much. ’That’s not like me. I won’t even leave a crumb for these profiteers. Wait! Flying!’

He slapped his forehead. The answer was so obvious that he felt ashamed to have wasted a minute to find it. After all, he had Selene’s grimoire!

"Hehehe. Time to show this arrogant elf what a true flying bastion should look like."

Determined to draw the plans, he closed his eyes and left the dream place with a smug grin.
