Chapter 6: 6:Aether Core

"Ooh, young master do you plan to cook for the family today again?" The bulter, Herold, asks while following behind Atheline.

Atheline nodded. He had spent the whole day with the prince doing nothing but helping him with documents and finishing most of the assignments left to him by the king.

"Yes... I’m bored today hence I thought of cooking again. Father should be coming for dinner this time and they all like my cooking," Atheline said with a smile.

Herold chuckled.

"Thats good, the masters seem to enjoy your meals more than the chefs."

Atheline smiled at the compliment.

Even without his memories, he enjoyed cooking. Back on earth he had taken a cooking course while doing his psychology classes.

He loved to cook for himself rather than eat outside food. Maybe the orphanage’s bad food had really destroyed his appetite.

The moment he entered the kitchen the cook and servants smiled and stepped back enthusiastically. Most of them loved his food since he would always cook enough for them to get a bite.

"Young master what are you cooking today?" The chef, Arnold, asked.

He moved towards him and helped him put on an apron.

The kitchen was big and most of the equipments were quite modern but magic had been integrated into their functions.

Those were equipment made by humans and sold to the other races. The author clearly favored humans more.

"I want something vegetarian, mother said she’s been lacking in that department, can you also give me River deer meat that’s Father and brother’s favorite," Atheline started giving out orders.

Everyone in the kitchen worked in tandem as they gave him the ingredients. He tied his hair up into a ponytail and started to cook.

"What good thing has been going on in the city?" He asked no one but everyone heard his question.

"The Southern Aetherion lord’s second daughter, Melody, was found in the brothels. She was fighting with her brother because of one of the male prostitutes," she whispered.

Gasps filled the kitchen. Atheline chuckled. This was one of the reasons he came to the kitchen, servants knew about what went on behind closed doors more than spies.

"Really, what happened after," Atheline asked.

He threw the blanched vegetables into the searing oil.

"I heard Lord Limbus wasn’t happy about it, he locked both of them up but the prostitute didn’t really get any punishment.."

"Why?" Another servant asked.

Atheline paused just a little.

"He..he.. I heard he ran before they could even catch him. He’s probably in the human continent charming their men and women."

Atheline chuckled.

’Second life isn’t a bad thing after all’

"This one was faster than the last one," he said between small laughs.

"Right.. the lord is lucky because he already has an heir... his other children get it from him after all," another servant said.

Atheline nodded in agreement. Lord Limbus’ children were always a source of rumours every week.

Whoever said that elves were calm and elegant has never lived among them. They only knew how to show their pride in front of other species.

Their goodlooks made it easier to act.

He listened as they talked about trivial things happening in the noble houses and the capital. Things only servants knew.

"I heard Mathias’ wife gave birth.." another started.

"The stable boy, why didn’t i not know about that I would have sent a gift," Atheline took out the vegetables and started to sear the meat.

"It happened last night my lord, a beautiful baby girl. I heard she was born with a wind Aether core," another servant if Atheline could remember correctly managed laundry said excitedly.

’Bingo’

"What, that’s a blessing to be celebrated, she’s going to be working as an Aether user under the lord," the second cook, Jerry said excitedly.

He started to organise the food as Atheline placed them on the counter.

"She’s got the same core as me, how lucky. Being a wind user is enjoyable.....oh right....Herold don’t forget to send a gift, new life is a gift from the God of light" Atheline said after placing the food on the plate.

It was a well-known universal knowledge that everyone was born with only one Aether core located above the heart.

But being born with one doesn’t mean you’ll become an Aether user.

Those who become users are those born with cores that contain an element. Every Aether core contains one element but the aptitude of a person depends on the core capacity and talent.

This depends on the ability to absorb Aether from the air and circulate it in the body.

Those born with aether cores but don’t have elements become weapon wielders. The core strengthens the body. They use their weapons to channel their Aether.

Atheline was a special and rare case. He got his wind Aether from his mother while he was also able to wield weapons and integrate it with Aether from his father.

A secret that is only known to his family. He was only known for his wind element.

"Wow young master, this looks appetising the masters are going to be overjoyed," Harold said in exaggeration.

Atheline chuckled. He watched as they placed the food in the carts ready to be taken to the dining hall.

"This is nothing, don’t over praise me too much... I think the leftovers should be enough to feed all of you. And remember if something comes up don’t forget to tell."

The servants nodded. He left the kitchen and followed the butler and two more servants as they took the food to the dining room.

"Atheline, you cooked today?" His brother, Helther, asked the moment he appeared behind the butler.

Atheline nodded. He walked to his brother who pulled him into her hug. His family was naturally affectionate and he had gotten used to it.

"You don’t want it?" He shot back playfully and pulled out the chair for his mother who had just entered.

Helther rolled his eyes.

"You’ve gotten snarky lately.. where the Atheline who used to follow me everywhere...oooh.. Light bring him back... my sweet baby brother." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"Would just let your brother be," his mother said with a chuckle.

She patted his arm in thanks and sat down at the table. Atheline smiled and sat down next to her.

"Where is father?"
