Chapter 498 - 498 Invincible: Trying to Kill Omni-Man, Space Weapon and the Kaijuu, Immortal vs Omni-Man, The New Robot and Allen Has Very Important Business.
Nolan searched for Mark through the first person he thought would know where he was: William, Mark's best friend. The guy in question was in his car talking on the phone when Nolan landed next to him.
"William."
"Mr. Grayson?!"
"William, I need to find Mark..."
William knew who Nolan was, but seeing him appear in his Omni-Man suit like that made him feel scared.
"Mark, he..."
Before the guy could respond, he was struck by an epiphany. Whether it was Omni-Man's cold and aggressive attitude, his scornful way of speaking, his aura, or perhaps the bloodstains on his hands, something made William distrust his friend's father, so he decided not to tell him what he knew.
"I don't know."
"..."
Omni-Man left without saying goodbye, which only reinforced the belief that something was wrong, so William sent Mark a message.
– "Dude, your dad is looking for you, but he seems... terrifying like he's being controlled or something." –
...
Omni-Man felt more frustrated. If he had known this would happen, he might have revealed his true intentions to Mark. Maybe it would've been better to raise him the Viltrumite way to ensure something like this never happened.
Thinking about that, Nolan wondered why he taught Mark to be a superhero, even though he didn't believe in the ideals that he embodied. Even that mindset could become a problem when the time came. No, Nolan knew exactly why he did it. This world, its people, its way of life was pleasant... pleasant for a Viltrumite who had been fighting bloody battles for so long.
It was so comfortable living here that there were moments when he forgot about Viltrum... but in the end, it wasn't so easy to turn his back on his people. No matter how barbaric they were, they were still his people. Maybe if the Viltrumites weren't on the brink of extinction, maybe if it weren't such a desperate situation, he could have made a different decision.
"But the 'would have' doesn't exist, does it, Cecil?" Nolan murmured, feeling that the reason he couldn't find Mark and Debbie was because of Cecil.
No matter the friendship, as soon as Nolan showed any sign of hostility, Cecil would do everything in his power to stop him or even kill him. It had always been that way, and Nolan was well aware of it.
...
"Fire!"
Just as Nolan was passing through a disabled area, the four hundred billion-dollar satellite was activated, firing a beam of energy so powerful that even Omni-Man couldn't remain indifferent to it.
"Ahh!"
This chapt𝓮r is updat𝒆d by ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom.
Nolan was engulfed by the light, which devastated the entire area. For a moment, everyone felt relief. The most powerful weapon humanity could create had to be useful for something.
"Sir, direct hit!"
Debbie felt pain seeing this, even if it was all a lie, even if Nolan was a monster, it wasn't easy to erase her feelings, which in the end weren't guided by logic.
But soon, the momentary relief turned into despair. No one expected this to end Omni-Man, but seeing him remain unscathed was unexpected. No, in fact, he had a small nosebleed.
It was such a minor thing that it could almost be seen as a joke.
"The most expensive nosebleed in history!" Cecil growled. "Fire again!"
Nolan wouldn't allow that, so he sped off into space.
*Vrrrrrrm—TZZZZT!*
The second shot impacted him, causing pain once again, but he didn't care and continued on his path. With his own momentum, he smashed through the satellite, completely destroying it.
Through a camera floating in space, everyone could see how Nolan effortlessly destroyed his best weapon. Nolan, noticing this, snorted with disdain.
"Is this the best you have, Cecil?!"
Nolan continued on his way after destroying the camera. Despite his cold attitude, Nolan became more impatient. He needed to find Mark; he needed to talk to him.
...
Mark turned his phone back on and received many notifications of missed calls and messages. Alarmed, he checked a few, and could only understand that Cecil and his mother wanted to see him quickly. Then he saw one from his friend and realized something had happened to his father. Mark put on his suit and flew at high speed in search of him.
"SHRIIIIEEEKK!"
Meanwhile, Omni-Man was intercepted by something unexpected. It was the Kaiju he had defeated recently, a grotesque creature whose head had tentacles, and its body was a mix of dinosaur and reptile with bone spines protruding from its back.
"Cecil, you even resorted to this monster? I already defeated it once!"
A drone flew near Omni-Man and projected a screen with Cecil's image.
"I'll use whatever I have to, and now it's stronger. We filled it with steroids and removed its sense of pain, and you know what? It blames you for it!"
Omni-Man began to fight the prehistoric Kraken/Kaiju. This creature could withstand Omni-Man's blows and fought back, to the point that it even seemed like it might defeat him.
At that moment, a couple of helicopters flew overhead to witness the scene. For them and the rest of the world, Omni-Man was still the greatest superhero of all time, so they even cheered him on in what seemed like one of his toughest battles. It was an incredible sight to see him struggling to defeat a monster. People could only imagine what would happen in an apocalypse if that thing wasn't stopped by Omni-Man.
Just when the creature used its tentacles to trap Omni-Man, a scream and an object moving at great speed attacked from the sky. It was Invincible.
"Dad!"
...
"Damn it!" Cecil slammed a control panel. The creature had given everyone false hope, but who would've thought that their best opportunity to defeat Omni-Man would be interrupted by Invincible?
"Mark!" Debbie cheered at seeing her son appear. The woman seemed relieved to see this.
"Are you happy, Debbie?"
Cecil's sarcastic voice brought the woman back to reality. She wanted to justify her actions, but it was impossible. She couldn't say she was happy to see her son save his father because that would mean the end of Earth as they knew it.
"I don't blame you, Debbie. You've loved this man for twenty years. It would be strange if all of that were discarded in a matter of hours..."
...
The Guardians of the Globe had been called in for an emergency by Cecil; the threat level was apocalyptic, meaning it posed a danger to all of humanity. However, they were never told what had happened, only that they had to be prepared as the last line of defense.
Kate adjusted her gloves while squinting her eyes. "This feels wrong. If it's something this urgent to call us out of nowhere, I don't see why we should just sit here doing nothing."
Black Samson had regained his powers, which brought him a strange sense of calm, and he no longer constantly sought out fights with Rex. He leaned against a wall.
"Dupli-Kate's right, it's contradictory..."
Eve pulled out her phone to call Allen. How most of the time if anyone knew what was going on, it was Allen Walker, but strangely, the call didn't go through.
"Why?"
Amanda yawned and walked over to Eve. "What if you try that other method?"
After several months, Allen had given them access to the Viewer interface of the system, though he asked them to keep it a secret. Eve needed some privacy, but just as she was about to make an excuse to leave, the door opened.
"You don't have to worry... this problem will be solved without us..."
Robot entered, but he wasn't alone—there was a man in a suit with him. He had orange hair, green eyes, and a decent-sized beard.
Everyone stared in shock at the appearance of this strange man, who had a calm and kind expression.
"I know you're confused, but let me introduce myself. I'm Robot."
"Huh? What are you saying?!" Rex immediately became cautious. Allen's beatings had made him wary of mysterious, formally-dressed types.
Robot smiled. "It may sound crazy, but I'm him... the Robot who was your leader, something I created. Before, I couldn't come out or present myself due to serious health problems, but now I'm free from that hellish prison called... never mind."
Allen had mastered the cursed technique of soul manipulation, "Idle Transfiguration," which allowed him to mold Rudolph's body into a person without physical limitations or health problems. For Robot's appearance, Allen based it on how Robot would look when he grew older. Even though he was a clone of Rex, Rudolph looked different from Rex as he aged.
Robot stepped forward. "Everything he said is true; I am Robot, but I'm also an artificial intelligence based on Rudolph Conners."
"I'm confused. Who's Robot?" Shrink-Ray looked at Robot and Rudolph, unsure of what to think.
Rudolph chuckled. "Normally, Robot is independent, but I used him frequently to communicate with everyone, so I'm not a stranger..."
Eve crossed her arms. "Well, that's not convincing. Robot always spoke like a machine. It's hard to believe someone like you was behind all that..."
Rudolph's expression softened. "When I said I had health problems, you might have thought I just had a broken leg or something, but I swear, in that situation, I would have been happier dying than living... now I can smile..."
No one could understand how happy Rudolph was at that moment. Standing, breathing, talking, smelling every little detail... things that were normal for anyone... half of them were things he could only dream about and the other half were something that caused him suffering.
Everyone stayed silent. Perhaps Rudolph was someone suspicious, but he seemed like a guy without bad intentions.
Amanda pointed at him. "Hey, if you're Robot, prove it. Hack Cecil and tell us what's going on!"
Robot remained silent, staring at Amanda.
Amanda frowned when she saw Robot didn't respond. "What?!"
Rudolph smiled confidently once again. "I'll do it, don't worry... for me, even the GDA doesn't have enough security to block me."
Amanda stood still, narrowing her eyes, while Kate approached and patted her on the shoulder.
"Seems like the guy likes you..."
"Shut up..." Amanda teased. "It's natural for men to drool over me. When I reach my real age, I'll be an unattainable beauty~"
"Pfff, like when you tried to seduce Allen!"
"I'll kill you!" Amanda still remembered the embarrassment she felt when Kate was the one waiting for her in the living room, not Allen.
Kate smiled smugly, but then the humiliating memories of Allen punishing her came back to her mind. There was a mix of shame and a strange excitement. 'Damn it!' Kate bit her lip, wondering if she had awakened some strange fetish. Better forget what happened so Amanda wouldn't humiliate her in the future.
"What's going on?" Amanda frowned. Her fights with Kate usually lasted longer than this.
"It's nothing!" Kate ran to the bathroom to get away from Amanda.
Amanda teased, thinking Kate had run away because she had run out of arguments. Then she frowned when she felt someone staring at her. It was the guy named Rudolph. Jokes aside, it was clear he was trying to impress her, but instead of making her feel flattered, it annoyed her.
'I must make it clear to this guy that he has no chance with me...'
Unfortunately, the fight was uneven from the start. Allen hadn't thought to deny Rudolph a body, even knowing he had a thing for Amanda. Allen didn't even give Rudolph an ugly appearance; he just told Rudolph to go ahead and win her over if he could...
But could Rudolph?
How many protagonists actually have the qualifications to compete with Allen for a woman? Of course, leaving aside nonsense like soulmates, couples made by the heavens, script needs, destined loves, and other silly things that would stop working in front of Allen due to "The Absolute." Ignoring charm skills, hypnosis, and attraction of some kind, which would also be useless in front of Allen, how many protagonists can conquer a woman in front of Allen?
Allen didn't worry, because if there was one thing Allen was better at than fighting, it was conquering a woman.
Amanda walked up to Robot with a frown. He mistakenly thought he had caught her attention, but he was about to receive quite the character development.
However, this was interrupted, as suddenly, the big screen showed an image of Omni-Man fighting a Kaiju alongside Invincible.
"What?" Rex widened his eyes. "No way, Cecil is over here watching an Omni-Man fight with popcorn and soda?!"
Everyone thought it was pretty strange, though they were also surprised that Omni-Man was having trouble even with Invincible by his side.
"Should we help them?" Shrink-Ray asked, confused.
Black Samson frowned. Something felt wrong about this situation. If the problem was the Kaiju, why did Cecil bring them to the headquarters instead of sending them directly to the location?
"I already told you it wasn't necessary, and... unfortunately, the enemy isn't the Kaiju..."
At Robot's words, there was more confusion than answers.
...
(Poor Robot so fast you want to receive character development and a canonical event 🍷🗿)
...
Mark fought alongside his father. Both hit the monster, creating a shockwave in the air and on the ground, temporarily knocking it out of action. Invincible secretly felt happy; this was what he had always dreamed of—fighting alongside his father, hand in hand.
"Dad, didn't you already defeat this thing before?" Invincible asked, looking at the monster on the ground.
"Yes, but now it's stronger. Cecil sent it for me..."
"What?!"
"Mark, we need to talk. There are things I have to tell you..."
Mark looked at his father with concern. The monster growled and got back up.
"Alright, but first, let's finish off these tentacles."
"AHHH!!!"
Mark looked up at the sky in disbelief. It was Immortal, filled with rage and resentment, he attacked Omni-Man without hesitation.
"OMNI-MAN, SON OF A BITCH!!"
The strongest of the original Guardians had returned from the dead with unending hatred. He was strong enough to sustain a fight against Omni-Man for a short time.
"Dad!" Mark wanted to intervene, but the creature grabbed him and started slamming him against the ground. Invincible was forced to face the monster alone.
"YOU DAMN KILLER!" Immortal's blows echoed in the sky, and they managed to draw blood from Omni-Man. But instead of weakening him, this only made him angrier.
"WE TRUSTED YOU!"
"You should have stayed dead..."
Omni-Man charged, sending Immortal flying into the sky. They exchanged blows that initially seemed equal, but Omni-Man's punches damaged Immortal significantly, while Immortal's punches didn't do much to Omni-Man.
Rudy watched this in silence. Although he no longer needed his clone, he gave the plans he had promised to the Mauler twins. This was at Allen's request, even knowing that they wanted to resurrect Immortal to control him.
Of course, the plans were modified, and once Immortal revived, only anger filled his mind, and he went straight for Omni-Man.
Eve was in the bathroom trying to contact Allen. If both girls knew why he wasn't available at the moment, they would be furious. But even using the system interface, Allen didn't respond.
"Ah! This is ridiculous. I'm going to go find him personally!" Eve got frustrated and left the base in search of Allen.
...
At his apartment, Allen received someone's messages and calls through his system but didn't think it was appropriate to answer while there was a girl on top of him.
Allen frowned. "Damn it, I can't even have one peaceful day. I don't think the world is going to end because I'm absent for an hour."
"Ah... w-why only one hour?...hm...." Esdeath opened her eyes and pouted. Drops of sweat were running down her face and neck, adorning her flushed skin.
"Of course, that's negotiable..." Allen grabbed the chains around the girl before ignoring the messages.
"Nggh!❤️~"
