I was Caught up in a Hero Summoning, but that World is at Peace (WN)-Chapter 2250: Intermission: Faith Solves Everything - Part 2
After spending an enormous amount of time, Olivia finally completed a statue of Kaito that she was satisfied with. She rose to her feet, having finished a prayer that felt deeper and more refined than ever before.
The thought of being able to continue offering prayers to this statue made her heart dance with joy. With her objective fulfilled, this subspace was no longer necessary…… She considered moving the statue to the Founder's chamber and dissolving the space she had created, but then, a thought struck her.
(……Should I also create a statue of Shallow Vernal-sama? By crafting a statue of Miyama Kaito-sama and offering my prayers to it, I was able to pray in a way that even surprised me with how wonderful it was. Now that I understand how much the environment influences the quality of prayer, it stands to reason that the same should apply to my prayers to Shallow Vernal-sama. In that case, I must indeed create a divine statue for Shallow Vernal-sama……)
Thinking this, Olivia prepared new marble and began creating a statue of Shallow Vernal. Compared to Kaito's statue, this one took less time.
While this was partly due to her sculpting skills having reached their peak during the process of creating Kaito’s statue, she still ended up redoing it several times.
At last, a statue of Shallow Vernal, roughly the same size as Kaito’s, was completed, and Olivia nodded in satisfaction.
(This should do. Just thinking about being able to pray from now on while being watched over by the divine statues of Miyama Kaito-sama and Shallow Vernal-sama fills me with honor and happiness. I’m sure I’ll be able to offer truly wonderful prayers.)
After placing the two completed statues in the Founder's chamber, having created a space where it truly felt as though she was being watched over by Kaito and Shallow Vernal during her prayers, Olivia nodded deeply, clearly pleased.
Olivia, who had gained what could be called the world's highest level of sculpting skill thanks to her immense devotion, concentration, and countless hours of trial and error in a specialized space, had no intention of telling anyone about her abilities. Nor did she have any plans to create further works.
To her, sculpting was simply a necessary skill for crafting divine statues that would allow her to offer higher-quality prayers to the ones she revered, Kaito and Shallow Vernal. It was nothing more than a means to prepare an environment for prayer.
She had no particular interest in sculpture itself, and Olivia, who could be said to lack any sense of self-display, would never flaunt such abilities.
If asked, she would answer, but unless prompted, she likely never would have spoken to anyone about having sculpted those statues.
In fact, if Alice hadn't later requested her to showcase her work as entertainment to please Kaito and Shallow Vernal, her sculpting skills would never have become known.
That said, it wasn’t as though her newfound skills had no effect whatsoever. Gaining such refined sculpting ability did lead to a small but notable change.
It happened when Olivia, having finished her prayers, moved to the office where she handled paperwork as the city’s representative. There, on the edge of her work desk, sat a small decorative item modeled after a prayer bell…… something she had bought on her date with Kaito because she’d liked it. Upon seeing it again, she made a slightly conflicted expression.
(Looking at it now, this prayer bell feels rather poorly made. It's an item meant for ordinary citizens who can't frequently visit churches or temples to use at home for their prayers…… Given that it's designed to be sold cheaply, perhaps it's understandable to a degree but…… I've come to truly feel how much the environment and tools affect the quality of one's prayers. Wouldn’t it be better if ordinary citizens also had access to better-crafted items to help them pray more meaningfully?)
Having acquired such high-level sculpting skills, Olivia began to notice the rough craftsmanship of the decorative prayer bell on her desk. Of course, it was just an ornament, and rarely used for the kind of prayer Olivia envisioned…… but she had no way of knowing that.
(Why not have the Godism Church produce and sell them instead? If I personally supervise the process, it should be possible to create prayer bells that are complete down to the finest detail…… Since I’m not concerned about profit, we can price them affordably so that even regular citizens can buy them. We could offer different sizes too, small ones for desktops, slightly larger ones for small rooms, and so on, so people can choose what suits their needs. As for where to sell them…… for now, the Central Grand Cathedral should suffice. Visitors can purchase one on their way home after offering their prayers……)
This idea, too, came about on a whim, but it would eventually yield significant profits. After all, in Trinia, a world where Gods truly exist, there were many with strong faith.
Among the Humans in particular, nearly everyone received Blessings from the Gods or Priests during the New Year, and many also made a point to visit churches or temples at least once a month to offer prayers.
Prayer bells that could be used at home, whether before bed or upon waking…… became immensely popular, especially since they were of exceptionally high quality and personally supervised by the Founder herself. It wasn’t just the inexpensive tabletop versions, sold nearly at cost, that were in demand; medium-sized ones for rooms and even large bells designed for grand halls also sold rapidly. As a result, they brought enormous profits to the Godism Church. What began as a product sold only at the Central Grand Cathedral soon expanded, with temples and churches across the land taking up sales as well.
And yet, Olivia, who had overseen the entire creation process of this highly profitable product, paid it no mind whatsoever. With not a trace of interest in the profits, she promptly transferred all rights and ownership to the Central Grand Cathedral. As for herself, she simply continued to offer her prayers, radiating happiness in the Founder’s chamber, now adorned with the statues of Kaito and Shallow Vernal, as well as a newly crafted prayer bell.
<Afterword>
Serious-senpai : [Ah, so she only made it for herself and was only keeping it in the Founder's chamber, it's not like she's placing statues of Kaito all over the place…… Maybe the reason Olivia doesn’t come off as insane is because she knows exactly where to draw the line.]
