Chapter 51: Chapter 51

This week should have been all about studying or as students called it as ’Hell Week’ but because of the shocking news about a Rogue infiltrating the Academy was leaked across the entire world, the professors and executives were once again interrogated by the Heroic Union.

As a result, the professors can’t give us pointers in which will show up in our exams and sparring with other students was also cancelled. We were left alone studying all of our lessons.

"Hey, you know the answer to this?"

"Did we review this?"

"Highlight the terms, I’ve got a feeling that this will come up in our exams."

"Let me copy some of your notes."

"Here."

I looked around me. To others, it may seem that it’s just a normal day but to me, especially now that I’ve joined the MC’s group, it felt different.

"Remi, can you explain this to me?"

I snapped out of my thoughts when Cypher disturbed me for the fifth time! Ever since that night, something changed about Cypher’s attitude but Remillia can’t pinpoint what exactly.

"Hmm? Where?"

I leaned towards his desk.

To clear you up, here’s our seat formation:

Edge | Whitney

Angela | Christian

Cypher | Me

Rex | (he’s currently sleeping, no one wants to sit beside him considering how hot tempered he is)

"Huh? Didn’t I just tell you about Aethersong?"

Seeing that Cypher just smiled at her, she sighed.

"You’re not listening a while ago, right?"

"Heh. I was distracted by something as you were explaining this."

"This will be the last time I’m helping you out with your review."

"Alright."

"Aethersong is all about resonance. It’s about attuning your mana to the vibrations of the universe. You see, every living thing has its own unique frequency, and as a wielder, you need to harmonize your energy with that frequency to achieve balance."

"Ahh, I get it now. Thanks."

In reality Cypher all knows of this, he just wants Remillia’s attention but Remillia seems oblivious to his actions.

Now that it’s quiet, I was about to sleep when suddenly it was interrupted by Ezekiel.

"Remillia? Can you help me find the answer to this?"

I clenched my teeth as I calmly questioned him.

"What?"

He wanted to ask her a question but he’s scared to do so since Cypher was always glaring at him whenever he tried to approach Remillia.

’Cypher wasn’t like this before, he was very kind and helpful to the other students including him. His attitude seemed to change whenever Remillia’s involved.’

When he saw that Cypher was writing on his notebook, he boldly approached Remillia to ask her the question he can’t seem to find the answer.

’It’s now or never! Cypher can kill me later but I really need the answer to this!’

"The Spire of the Damned. Do you know-"

He cut off the words he’s about to say when he felt strong animosity glaring at him just behind Remillia.

Remillia noticed his sudden change when he stopped talking and was petrified as he stared something behind her. Curious, she also turned her back around only to see Cypher focusing on his notes.

"Uhh, Ezekiel? You were saying?"

"R-right. U-uhm about the-"

He can’t seem to continue his words as Cypher glared at him again. Remillia looked back and forth between them but each time she looks at Cypher, his eyes were focused on reading his notes.

Seeing that Ezekiel won’t speak when he’s facing Cypher, she decided to go to his seat.

"I’ll just go to your seat. Where are you seated?"

"Here in the back."

"Oka-"

I was about to go when Cypher grabbed me by the wrist. He was still reading at the same time speaking to me.

"Stay here."

"Huh? I can’t. Ezekiel also needs my help about our lessons."

"He can just stand there and ask you, I promise I won’t disturb the both of you."

I got seated again and resumed our conversation.

"Continue."

"I just can’t understand on how an army of 200 Heroes and a leader managed to defeat the largest tower in the world. So what technique did they use in defeating the Chromids?"

She temporarily became deaf as she heard the question.

’I haven’t read this kind of information.’

"Before answering that, how sure are you this question will appear in our exams?"

"Hmm about 86%? You see..."

As he was busy explaining, I quickly called out the system.

’Hey system, do you know the answer?’

[Of course.]

’Great! Can you show me then?’

[No, why would I?]

’And why not?’

[Figure the answer by yourself.]

’Oh, come on! I really don’t know the answer to this!’

[Still not helping you.]

’Pretty please?’

[A big fat NO.]

’I promise I’ll study harder! Just help me with this one question!’

[Hayss, I’ll help you just this once.]

’Thank you!’

[Remember, you can’t just rely on me all the time. I know you’re smart, you’re just lazy.]

’I deserve to be lazy! After helping the main characters and killing the Rogue, this is what I get?!’

[Oh? Do you want me to give you the answer or not?]

’I promise not to slack off again!’

[Good. Now here you go.]

The Spire of the Damned

A towering fortress built upon a mountain of skulls, where the damned Chromids (a type of floating monsters that creates hallucinations resulting intruders to have imaginations and therefore killing their teammates) live and torture their victims.

In the year 2003, Kaelith Bloodfane, an Elite ranked grade 2 Hero single-handedly led his 158 soldiers to victory from a battle in the Spire of the Damned.

Kaelith Bloodfane was born blind but that didn’t stop him in learning how to wield a sword. At the age of 10, he became an Awakened and earned his ability ’auroral perception.’

He developed s heightened sensitivity to the subtle vibrations or energies emitted by his opponents, allowing him to perceive their movements even in the absence of sight.

What led to their victory was not only because of their weapon but because of Bloodfane’s strong mental fortitude and blindness that gave him the upper hand to block the Chromids hallucinations around him.

"-I also had a sneak peek about-"

"Your question, there’s something wrong about it."

"Huh?"

"The people who went to conquer the Spiral of the Damned were only 159 Heroes including Kaelith Bloodfane."

"But it said that there were 200 Heroes and also what about Kaelith? He’s just a right hand man although he died due to blood loss. What I need to know is about Arkus Maguire. He was the one who lead the whole -"

Crack!

I slammed my desk hard enough that it made a crack as all the students in the classroom kept quiet as they pretended to read.

"Say what?! Who’s the leader again?"

"A-Arkus Magui-"

"Bullsh!t! Where did you hear that huh?"

I stood up and faced him.

"Wait! Why are you so angry at me for? It’s written in history page."

He hurriedly went to his desk, grabbed his tablet and handed it to me.

As I read every single word, my hands seemed to clench as a crack formed on the tablet screen I was holding.

————————————

Arkus Maguire

He successfully led his army which is a total of 200 Heroes into a victory as they defeated all the monsters in the Spire of the Damned.

Using his wits and strength, he single-handedly defeated the boss monster with his spear while his team are incapacitated due to the wounds they received from the monsters.

He tried to save his right hand man, Kaelith Bloodfane, but died due to blood loss ....

————————————

I can’t continue to read it anymore as the whole screen cracked and turned black.

"F*cking bastard, taking all the credit to himself. If I ever see him, I swear I will enjoy slitting his throat and feeding him to the-"

"Remi."

I stopped when Cypher called my name.

"What?"

I looked around and caught all of their eyes staring at me. I coughed as I tried to calm myself.

"Here."

I gave the broken tablet to Ezekiel and walked out of the room. I need to use Noblesee Codex to find out more answers.

Meanwhile, inside the classroom.

"What’s wrong with her?"

"She truly is like the rumors say, she’s the-"

"Mad Witch."

All the students seemed to think at the same time as they watched Remillia storming out of the classroom.

Ezekiel was worried because of his tablet.

’What should I do?! Some of my notes are here! Argh! I shouldn’t have asked Remillia!’

Cypher was sad because Remillia left.

’This was all because of that man!’

When he thought of Ezekiel, he turned to glare at him. Ezekiel felt that someone was giving him the chills so he turned around and almost had a heart attack when he saw Cypher glaring at him.

’Eeeek! What did I do again?’

"I’ll just go back to my seat."

He hurriedly moved away from him and returned to his seat.

Angela, Christian, and Whitney turned their gazes at Cypher and questioned him.

"What is she angry for?"

"I don’t know either. Let’s just wait for her to come back."

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Remillia didn’t go back instead she summoned Noblesee Codex to find the answers she was looking for.
