Chapter 53: Chapter 53

I first put on my cat mask which I bought from the system store and cost me a lot of popularity points before putting on a hat and started to walk towards the entrance past the statue but before I could go deeper someone blocked my way.

"Hey kid! Didn’t you read the sign? It says, ’NO ENTRY BEYOND THIS SIGN’?"

Another one butted in.

"Leave this area now before we force you ourselves."

I didn’t move an inch.

Guy 1 got annoyed and removed my cap.

"Oh, why are you wearing a mask? This is not a cosplay convention so get lost."

Guy 2 also made a remark when I still stood there.

"Not only are you blind but are you also deaf?"

"..."

"Okay that’s it! We’re dragging you outside!"

The both of them moved and came to grab me but before they could do that, I showed my face at them.

"Say cheese, m*therf*ckers."

My mask flashed blinding them together.

"Aaah! You little b!tch!"

"What did you do?!"

When they opened their eyes, they can’t see anything. Only white.

Meanwhile, the culprit was busy humming her favorite tune as she tread the dark halls.

"Hey system, are you sure that mask wouldn’t permanently blind them forever?"

<No, they will get back their vision in an hour.>

"I spent my precious popularity points for that one time use item and they won’t even have damage?"

<Don’t tell me-?>

"Yes. Are there no items that would even scar my opponent for life?"

<...>

The system was dumbfounded. It can’t believe that this girl was really mad.

"System, you still there?"

<The rumors about you were really true.>

"What rumors?"

<...>

"Hey! About the rumors, what are they?"

The system didn’t answer anymore.

"Great! Now I have no one to talk to."

She looked around and just noticed that the atmosphere is so eery and dark.

"Let’s just get this over with."

After thirty minutes or an hour, she finally found where the cliff is.

"Sir Kaelith must be down the cliff."

She opened her mystic maravilla and pulled out a rope and a hook then she tied to a nearby tree and tested it out.

"Hmmm. Looks good."

She then tied the end of the rope around her waist and proceeded to slowly go down the cliff.

I was halfway of the cliff when I felt my rope loosening. I looked up and saw that someone is trying to cut my rope.

"F*ck!"

My rope finally snapped as I fell deeper. Just when I was about to land on my death, my hand caught ahold of a branch that was stuck in a rock.

I shakingly looked down, I heaved heavily as I realized I was only inches away from the ground.

"Those bastards must have already informed Arkus that an intruder entered the dungeon."

’I should have killed them when I had the chance. Maybe they’re also the ones who cut my rope off.’

Meanwhile, the two men on top of the cliff nodded at each other before calling their boss.

{Boss, it’s done.}

{Are you sure she’s dead?}

{Affirmative.}

{Good.}

The call ended immediately.

"I don’t understand why our boss is so hellbent in protecting this piece of a trash dungeon. It’s basically empty."

"Maybe this is where he hids his treasure?"

"Nah, that can’t be."

"Let’s just hope that the girl is dead."

"Let’s go, this place is really giving me the creeps especially in this part."

"Hey once go home let’s order one of those snacks that you bought last time."

"Sure."

Remillia on the other hand was greatly shocked when she scanned her surroundings.

There were dead bodies piled up together, the others are still fresh while some are already decomposing.

"That d@mn bastard, he made this his own dumping area."

She made sure that she recorded every single thing.

After finishing, she looked at the corpse sadly and made a prayer to them.

"Now where is it?"

She didn’t care about the other corpse and focused on her goal to retrieve Kaelith’s remains so she skipped the corpses and went to another side but soon went back again.

"Ugh! How can I find out Sir Kaelith’s remains with this many corpse?"

She opened system shop and ordered body bags.

"This is too expensive! I mean one body bag for a thousand popularity points? Are there even no bundle sale or wholesale?"

[We only sell per piece.]

"Wow! This is downright robbery in broad daylight!"

[Then go look for another shop, let’s see if you can find a shop anytime you like.]

"Wha-!"

[SYSTEM SHOP CLOSED.]

Her eyes can’t believe it, she tried tapping the screen but the shop is really closed.

"What kind of system are you?!"

[...]

Hearing that the system won’t respond, she tried to calm down and forced a smile on her face.

"Oh holy dear system, I’m just joking. You know that you’re more powerful than me right?"

[...]

"Fine! I’ll pay twice the price but only this time!"

[Don’t smile, you look like the Grinch.]

Her forced smile turned into a scowl.

"Just open the system shop!"

[Pleasure doing business with you.]

This thick faced system!

I counted all the corpses, there were 30 of them plus one for Sir Kaelith so I ordered 31 pieces before carefully putting them in a body bag one by one and placing it in her mystic maravilla.

"I’m not doing this because I want to but because I need to, you’re blocking my way in finding Sir Kaelith’s body but the least I could do is to give you a proper burials."

The system was watching her and just smiled.

Remillia doesn’t want to admit but she’s too sympathetic to others, she just doesn’t want to show it. She must have a traumatic past.

"Now I just need to find Sir Kaelith’s remains."

She’s been looking for his remains about thirty minutes ago and she can’t find not at least a single bone.

"Where could he have gone?"

When my smartwatch beeped and brightened up indicating an alarm that I’ve set, the brightness seemed to have hit something in the corner which shined blinding my left eyesight.

’What’s that?’

As I walked closer, I’ve realized that it was a sword.

"Is this-?"

The legendary Sunshadow. The sword can only be wielded by a true Hero of the Bloodfane clan. Any who attempt to wield it without the blessing of the clan’s leaders will be met with failure, and the sword will remain silent and unresponsive. The sword is said to have a mind of its own and will only reveal its secrets and powers to those who possess a pure heart and a strong sense of justice.

Only the first master of the Bloodfane and Kaelith himself are the ones who have wielded this sword.

As soon as I pulled out the sword, I quickly moved back as the stones came crushing down and revealed a skeleton with a spear stuck on its ribcage.

I offered a silent prayer to him and carefully placed his bones in a body bag. I don’t want to tamper the evidence so I used a cloth to pick up the spear and carefully wrapped it.

Now that I’m done here, I mind linked Macaron to come to my location.

In an instant, he was by my side and waiting for me to climb his back.

"Don’t forget, destroy the statue before we get out of here."

He spread out his wings and with one jump, they flew up high and fast. They were even about to hit the ceiling.

"Sh!t Macaron! Slow down! If you were a driver in real life, they would have already arrested you for reckless driving!"

Macaron pretended to not hear anything as he flew mor faster than before.

"AAAHHH! I SWEAR I’M GOING TO KILL YOU ONCE WE ARE OUT OF HERE!"

The whole flight was all about screaming her lungs out while Macaron just listened to her and was laughing internally.

<Ahhh, music to my ears.>

"Ready yourself!"

Once they were near the entrance, Remillia created multiple fireballs and threw it towards the statue to weaken it while Macaron increased his speed and smashed the statue using his body.

The entrance was full of smoke and dust as the tourists outside were in chaos.

"What happened?"

"I thought no is allowed there?"

"What exploded?"

Whoosh! freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Just when the smoke was cleared, a large animal came flying outside the dungeon and flew high up disappearing in the setting sun.

"Woah what’s that?"

"Was that a monster? Is it a new type of monster?"

"A monster escaped!"

"Wait! The statue, look!"

"My gosh!"

The statue was crushed to dust and nothing was left of it.

"Good job, Macaron! I’ll forgive what you did at the cave."

Macaron just nodded happily.

"Next stop, Korondal. We’ll be riding by train."

<Can’t we just fly?>

"No. Considering that we caused a mess just a while ago, they might be locating us already."

Oblivious to what happened, the incident soon reached the headlines of every country in the world.
