Chapter 246: Afterparty

Unsurprisingly, Lyla lost the third game, losing the final match.

Well, she had brought it upon herself. Should she have taken Felix on his kind offer (which he had extended only because Remi had helped him cheat, which is why he was even in the position to make such an offer), she probably would have won, or at least would have had a good chance to do so.

But no. She was stubborn, she refused, and thus, the victory, and that unfortunate favor coupon went to Felix.

"Congratulations..." Lyla muttered, bowing her head at Felix. "It was... a good game."

Surprisingly... She accepted her defeat pretty easily. Although her face was filled with bitter disappointment, she didn’t try to argue the results. Yes, even if she had, it would mostly make her look bad, as there were countless witnesses, and there was no way that Felix could have cheated (ahem, ahem...), but still. Felix kind of expected her to at least throw a tantrum.

But she didn’t.

"Thanks," Felix bowed his head in return.

He didn’t say anything. Not ’you played well’, or ’on another day, you could have won’, or anything. Not because he wasn’t thinking it... But he had a feeling that Lyla would take it the wrong way again.

Sometimes it was simply better not to say anything, not even something nice.

"So, Young Master Felix!" Some of the Omegas from the audience approached Felix, all smiles. "Who are you going to use the voucher on?"

"Voucher?" Cael asked, quirking his brow. "What voucher?"

"O-oh..." Suddenly, no one wanted to speak.

It was a... questionable prize, after all. Especially since it hadn’t been discussed with anyone prior to the tournament. It was all on Lyla, of course, but no one really wanted to be the one to rat her out...

Even if Cael was going to find out about it sooner or later anyway.

No one except Felix, who didn’t care. It was the prize he was going to receive, so what was wrong with him disclosing what it was to Cael?

"Ah, Lyla prepared a rather unusual prize for the winner," he said, in a tone as if he were telling Cael about what he had for dinner. "A seven-day favor voucher, to be used on anyone in the pack."

"On ANYONE?" Cael repeated to confirm, to which Felix nodded his head.

"Mn." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Cael didn’t say anything. He just gave Lyla a long look.

She was probably going to get in trouble. Perhaps not too big, since technically it wasn’t a serious offense, it was just a stupid voucher that could be easily dismissed as a joke, and there wouldn’t be any issues with the prize, especially now that it ended up in Felix’s hands... But she would at the very least get scolded.

Promising a voucher with which the winner could allegedly order ANY member of the pack around? With what authority was she trying to do that?

It wasn’t Cael’s job to reprimand her, though, so he turned back to Felix. "So, who are you going to use it on?"

Felix pursed his lips, thinking for a moment. He didn’t have much use for the voucher. If he needed something from Kade, the Alpha was likely going to do it with or without it. With Fen and Cael, he would also much rather try to ask for a favor rather than use the voucher. It just seemed... off, to force anyone to follow his requests because of a piece of paper, golden-covered or not. When it game to the older, higher-ranking members, then to even try to use it would be highly inappropriate. So, all things considered, the only people it could be used on...

He glanced to the side, where Lyla was, and he smirked.

The woman’s flushed face immediately turned pale. Although Felix didn’t say anything, she knew what it meant.

She was the likely target that the voucher would be used on.

Was Felix actually going to use this voucher? No, probably not. Not unless Lyla pushed him too far. But... Its existence could be used. At least for a while, it should work as a protection of sorts. Neither Lyla nor anyone else would want to scheme against him, since he had a great way to retaliate!

"Ah, if you haven’t decided yet, then no pressure!" Cael smiled, guessing what was on Felix’s mind. "Here, have a drink, let’s celebrate your victory!"

Honestly, Felix didn’t feel like it. He had just played two intense tennis matches. He wanted to go back to his room, take a shower, and throw himself on the bed...

But wouldn’t that be seen as rude? He was the winner, the ’star’ of the night, how could he possibly leave the party so early? It was one thing on Vivi’s seventh-month birthday banquet, since he had the pup with him, and it was Kade who had spoken up, announcing it was time for them to leave.

Besides, he still didn’t know where Remi was. The fox could probably get by on his own... But it was a different thing to wander around outside within the building complex, and to sneak into Felix’s room, which Remi had probably done through the balcony... And different thing to sneak out from the game room in the basement. It wasn’t all that late yet, and those were all common areas, there were a lot of pack members wandering around. Within the game room, he could somehow hide within the crowd, but how could he pass through the hallway undetected? Unless he could make himself invisible (which was something that Felix had never seen him do, not even when they had broken into Eden’s house, so he suspected that it was either very hard, or impossible), he would get spotted in the hallways, even if he concealed his presence!

And although Felix was in no way responsible for Remi - the fox had sneaked into his backpack on his own, without his permission - he still felt uncertain to leave him alone...

So, he stayed in the game room for a while longer, for a few drinks. It was only two or three hours later, when most of the Omegas stopped paying attention to him, and his backpack was no longer deflated, that he finally returned to his room.
