I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 247: Unearned
Felix opened the door, dragging his feet as he walked into his room. His backpack was thrown over his back, still a bit heavy, even though his water bottles had been fully emptied. That was, of course, because it contained an adult male fox shifter. But Felix didn’t think about that at the moment. He just closed the door with a sigh...
And almost instantly, he heard knocking coming from the inner door.
It was as if Kade had been waiting right by it for Felix to come back.
Felix hesitated for a moment, considering the possibilities. After enduring the tournament and the afterparty, he didn’t really want to deal with any more social interactions, not to mention, he had a few questions he wanted to ask Remi... But after giving it a thought, he came to the conclusion that it would be faster to open the door, exchange a few words, and then say goodnight to Kade, than to have him knock on the door several times, waiting for an answer.
Well, perhaps not faster, but the sound of the Alpha’s voice was at least more pleasant than the knocking.
So, he let out a heavy sigh, put the backpack down, and opened the inner door.
"Congratulations!" Kade smiled at him, flashing his white teeth, as soon as Felix came into view. "I knew you could win!"
"Well, that makes one of us. I just got lucky, that’s all," Felix answered without much enthusiasm, shrugging his shoulders.
He was glad he had won, of course, but was this victory really worth celebrating?
"Eh, don’t be like that! You did great!"
"I’m not being humble. It’s just that..." Felix hesitated for a moment, but eventually he admitted, "It was thanks to the potions I got from Remi that I was able to do so well. He had also cast a spell at one point, to change the direction of the ball. Otherwise, I would have lost."
Since it was Kade, Felix could afford to be honest with him.
"Oh..." Kade’s smile faltered. Not because of the fact that Felix kind of cheated - no, he didn’t care about that at all - but simply at the mention of Remi. "He was there?" he muttered, a jealousy flashing through his eyes...
Felix didn’t let him come, but he had brought the fox?
He quickly fixed his expression, though, smiling at Felix. "Still, it was a very intense match. You played really well!"
"And how do you know that?"
"I’ve seen some of it. Cael streamed it to me through video call," Kade explained with a proud grin. "I have even recorded it!"
"Oh, great," Felix rolled his eyes. What was that for? It was just a table tennis match between him and Lyla, what was the point for having it saved? "Anyway, it’s like I said. Remi had prepared potions for me, and it’s thanks to them that I could perform well. Thus, I can hardly claim the credit for this win."
However, Kade still refused to accept it. "Even if the potions helped, it’s still you who had given it your best and scored the win!" he sighed, shaking his head.
"Whatever." Felix didn’t feel like arguing about it any longer. They could go on at it forever this way. Either way, he had told Kade the truth, so his conscience was clear.
Kind of.
"Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say." Surprisingly, Kade didn’t bother him any longer. Perhaps he noticed that Felix was tired, so he decided it was best to leave the Omega alone. After all, Felix still hadn’t even had a chance to shower. He was feeling all sticky and disgusting, and although he didn’t smell bad, his discomfort showed. "Have a good night!"
Then, taking advantage of Felix being distracted, he leaned forward and planted a kiss on top of the Omega’s head, before disappearing into his room.
Felix just stood there for a moment, his mind blank, as he lifted his hand to his head, which was a bit tingly from the touch of Kade’s lips still lingering...
He soon snapped out of it, though. It wasn’t the first time that the Alpha had sneakily planted a kiss on him, nor was it the last. He had even kissed him on the lips before, so what was a little peck on the top of the head? Felix dismissed all the inappropriate thoughts, and stepped onto the bathroom to refresh himself, taking a look around before undressing himself.
He didn’t want to accidentally strip in front of the fox, after all.
It was only once he was clean and changed, that he finally approached the fox.
Remi was no longer in the backpack. Instead, he was curled up comfortably on top of Felix’s bed, as if that was where he belonged. Although not that much time had passed, gone were the days when he hid underneath the bed, or Goddess knows where else...
It was almost as if this whole issue with Remi stealing Felix’s blood secretly had never happened. They had only changed the place from a small house in Silverfall, to a fancy room in the Bloodmoon Pack’s pack house. Perhaps they were a bit awkward with each other, more like in their early days than in the days prior to Felix finding out the truth, but that’s all.
They had yet to address the issue, though. They had to talk about it again eventually, but... Felix didn’t quite know what to say, and Remi... Well, Remi was staying in his fox form at all times, so naturally, he couldn’t talk. But he didn’t leave any letters for Felix either.
Either way, it wasn’t a topic Felix wanted to bring up now, when he was so tired from the tournament. He had some other questions, though. He sat down on the bed next to the fox, and poked him with his finger.
"Hey, Remi. What was that during the match? Care to explain yourself?" he asked calmly.
