If You Could Hear My Heart-Chapter 1668: The Gentleman is as Refined as Jade, Unique in the World (8)
"Is it still long? Even if it is..."
"I said no means no." With that, Shen Di pushed him and quickly walked outside.
Wen Zhiyuan watched her leave. Under the moonlight, she was like a rabbit fleeing in panic.
He chuckled softly and silently went to wash the bowls.
Today was his birthday, a fact he had forgotten, though Shen Di did remember.
A night without sleep, the evening breeze whistling. Outside the window, shadows of trees swayed, and the moonlight that slipped through the curtains fell upon the floor and bed.
Shen Di went downstairs a bit after five; the butler, Xie, was still busy with breakfast.
"Miss, why are you up so early today? Didn’t sleep well last night?" the butler quickly asked.
Shen Di shook her head and smiled, "There’s a concert today. I need to get up early to prepare."
"I’ll have Old Qian take you. There will be a lot of people at the concert, and you need to be careful and keep an eye out."
"I know."
The butler nodded, still at ease with Shen Di, especially since Old Qian was there, making her feel more at ease.
During breakfast, Shen Di was alone again, eating white porridge with a sense of flavorlessness.
"Miss, do you have a poor appetite?" the butler asked nervously, "Shall I call Dr. Wen to take a look at you?"
"No need, let him rest," Shen Di quickly said.
"That won’t do. He’s your doctor and should be responsible for you."
"Butler, he performed surgery past one in the morning. Let’s not disturb him. I’m fine, just a little nervous." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Really?" The butler was skeptical.
Shen Di had attended many concerts and never got nervous. Why now?
"So, Miss, should Dr. Wen be allowed to leave today?" the butler asked again.
"Let’s not let him go for now."
Remembering the agreement made at night, she wasn’t sure how long to keep him, maybe ten days, maybe a month?
"Alright, I’ll have him be a bit more responsible," the butler said.
Shen Di said nothing more, not having much appetite for breakfast, she took her violin and left with Uncle Qian.
The day was already bright, with a light white mist floating in the air, seemingly ethereal and elusive.
When she arrived at the concert venue, it was clearly still early. Shen Di sat backstage alone, tuning her violin. She focused on testing the sound, then carefully wiped her violin.
There were only a few scattered makeup artists backstage. Seeing Shen Di, they asked, "Miss Shen, would you like a light makeup today?"
"Hmm, just help me with a light makeup later. I’ll go change clothes first."
"Okay!"
Shen Di walked towards the wardrobe, filled with many evening dresses for her to choose from.
Purple... too mature. Yellow... too flashy. Red... too vibrant.
Shen Di’s hand lightly brushed past the clothes on the rack, her eyes settling on the clothes.
Light blue was nice, understated and quiet, suitable for her.
With that thought, Shen Di’s hand landed on a light blue strapless dress.
Just as she was about to take it down, a hand from the side snatched the dress away.
"Wow, this dress is so pretty. Feng, how do you think I look in this?" A delicate voice, softer than early spring willow twigs.
The voice was familiar.
Shen Di withdrew her hand and lifted her eyes.
It was Gu Luoluo.
Holding the dress Shen Di had just set her eyes on, Gu Luoluo seemed unaware of Shen Di’s presence and directly spoke to the man in front of her.
That man was none other than Ling Feng.
As Shen Di looked up, Ling Feng also raised his head and gave Shen Di an awkward glance before turning away indifferently.
"Feng, isn’t it lovely? Tell me!" Gu Luoluo pouted.
"It’s beautiful. Anything you wear looks great."
"You’re being so perfunctory! That’s not acceptable! Help me change..." Gu Luoluo gave Shen Di a cold glance from the corner of her eye.
Gu Luoluo had noticed Shen Di long ago. She had come in after Shen Di and purposely took the dress Shen Di had her eye on.
"Better not; someone might see," Ling Feng said softly.
"If you don’t help me, how will I reach the zipper in the back? Feng... are you afraid of someone seeing or seeing me without clothes?" Gu Luoluo leaned against Ling Feng’s chest like a puddle of mush.
Ling Feng’s face was awkward: "Be good, change yourself."
"No, why are you shy? There’s no one here, and we’ve done everything before."
Gu Luoluo hooked her arms around Ling Feng’s neck and lowered her lips to his neck.
"Hmm..." Gu Luoluo moaned softly, her eyes blurred.
"Stop it," Ling Feng pretended not to see Shen Di and tried to push her away.
Shen Di stood amidst a pile of clothes, not in the mood to pick anymore. She randomly grabbed a pure white dress and prepared to leave.
Just before turning, the white dress in her hand was again snatched away by Gu Luoluo. This time, Gu Luoluo released Ling Feng, standing in front of Shen Di.
"Wow, what a coincidence, isn’t it Miss Shen?" Gu Luoluo gave her a sly glance.
Shen Di showed no expression, "Just passing by."
"This white dress is so pretty too. Sister Shen, can you let me have it?" Gu Luoluo flattered Shen Di sweetly.
Shen Di almost got goosebumps; ha, Sister Shen.
In the past, Gu Luoluo liked calling her that.
Gu Luoluo also played the violin, though not as skillfully, so she called her "sister" to learn and follow her.
Gu Luoluo was younger. Shen Di agreed readily without hesitation.
Later, in many concerts, Shen Di would bring Gu Luoluo for her to learn by the side, or even directly take her on stage.
Now, Gu Luoluo could perform at concerts by herself. Likely, Gu Luoluo was also invited by the organizers today.
"I can’t take it." Shen Di said blandly, "The dress isn’t mine anyway. If you like it, take it. I never hold onto things you set your eyes on."
Saying this, Shen Di glanced at Ling Feng.
Ling Feng guiltily dropped his head, looking at the dress, not daring to meet Shen Di’s eyes.
Shen Di let out a cold laugh. Yes, no matter whether it was things or people she liked, she always lost to Gu Luoluo.
The dress, and Ling Feng too.
Back then, it was Ling Feng who pursued her. Lacking much experience in love, Ling Feng treated her well, and she agreed.
How Ling Feng ended up with Gu Luoluo, Shen Di didn’t wish to know the details.
All Shen Di knew was that Gu Luoluo made the first move on Ling Feng, and he didn’t reject her at all.
"Sister mustn’t say that. If you like anything, of course, I’ll give it to you," Gu Luoluo laughed.
"I wouldn’t want it." Shen Di threw back a line and turned to leave.
She walked through the racks, heading straight for the wardrobe door.
Not picking a dress, the royal blue dress on her was mature, but it was enough to be on stage.
She really didn’t want to see Gu Luoluo and Ling Feng!
