Chapter 479

It took a long time just to get them acquainted with the daughters-in-law. Mu Mingtang was so confused that she actually didn’t remember who was ranked first whereas Xie Xuanchen gave up completely. He seemed confident on the outside, but the fact remains that he didn’t remember a single name.

After introducing each other and just saying a few words of pleasantries, Xie Xuanchen had to leave. The troops will be sent out tomorrow and there were many things that needed to be arranged by Xie Xuanchen in the Zhending Residence. He had already squeezed out the remaining time he had just to send Mu Mingtang off.

Mu Mingtang also knew that it was time for Xie Xuanchen to leave, so she suddenly felt reluctant for him to go. It seemed that since they got married, the two of them have never been truly separated. Now, she didn’t know how long Xie Xuanchen’s departure would take and the future was uncertain. Mu Mingtang felt uncomfortable just thinking about it.

Xie Xuanchen didn’t want to part ways with Mu Mingtang either, but since the situation in the capital was getting out of hand, he had no choice but to make this decision. Xie Xuanchen knew that the time he had was running out, so he reluctantly said goodbye to her. Everyone in the Xu family sent Xie Xuanchen off together with great fanfare. When he reached the final doors, Xie Xuanchen suddenly stopped and turned to look at Mu Mingtang.

Everyone in the Xu family was able to pick up the cues well enough, so they immediately stepped back and gave space to the young couple.

Xie Xuanchen looked down at Mu Mingtang, sighed suddenly and stretched out his arms to hug her. Mu Mingtang also took the initiative to hug him as Xie Xuanchen’s voice floated into her ears, sounding heavy, “I’m leaving.”

“Yes. Make sure to take care of yourself throughout the journey. I practically took care of you so dedicatedly, so you better not get hurt.”

“Okay,” After Xie Xuanchen finished speaking, he hugged Mu Mingtang hard and used all his self-control to release her, “You too. Wait for me to come back.”

Mu Mingtang nodded as Xie Xuanchen raised his head and nodded to Senior General Xu and the others not far away. Finally, he reluctantly patted the top of Mu Mingtang’s head and turned away resolutely.

He was scared that if he didn’t leave now, he wouldn’t be able to leave at all.

Xie Xuanchen walked out for a long time before he suddenly turned around due to some strange urge to. Mu Mingtang was still standing there. When she saw him turning around, she smiled at him.

Xie Xuanchen understood the words Mu Mingtang mouthed, “I will wait for you.”

Xie Xuanchen then turned around and strode outside without hesitation.

Mu Mingtang watched Xie Xuanchen walk away and his figure disappeared behind the door before she felt increasingly depressed.

He had just left and she was already missing him.

He obviously spent so much effort to leave the capital, but now that the capital was in danger, he was leading his people back to rescue the others without saying a word.

She was right— her saviour was indeed a great hero. He stood firm and strong, knowing clearly that there was a trap for him. And yet, he was willing to take risks to rescue the enemy.

This was the man she loves.
