Chapter 124: PHEROMONE WAR

"SO, how do you want me to handle the reporter, who’s threatening to ruin your beloved husband’s career when it hasn’t started yet?"

"It’s the same reporter who has been shitting on me every chance he gets, isn’t it?" Yun Dujun asked, sighing while leaning against the seat. "The one from DayScoop?"

"Yes, that one," Spencer Choi said, sipping his coffee. "Reporter Min is so obsessed with you. It’s as if his only goal in life is to write scandalous articles about you to get your attention. So, even if we pay him the hush-hush money that he’s demanding, I don’t think he’d stop bothering you. And, since you’re not going to keep your distance from Wonyoung-ssi, I bet your husband will get dragged every time Reporter Min sprouts nonsense about you."

"I know, and that’s why I’m going to end that reporter and give his company one final warning."

"Oh. Then are you going to ask for Lee Heeju’s help?"

"No, of course not."

"Why not? Lee Heejun can get rid of that company if you ask him to."

"You can also do that since you’re also a chaebol, Hyung."

"Yes, but people know that I’m a chaebol. If I abuse my power, it will affect our company’s image. If that happens, then my father will kill me."

"Don’t you think Lee Heeju is in the same boat?"

"Lee Heeju isn’t a public figure like me. He can work in the shadows."

"Are you sure it’s not because you just can’t be bothered, Hyung?"

Spencer Choi chuckled while shaking his head. "Hey, I’m willing to go along with whatever plan you have. As your representative, it’s my duty to protect you and your image. Of course, that includes Wonyoung-ssi as well."

"Hyung, you know that I didn’t just stay put while that reporter was bullying me for the past few years, right?"

"Of course, I know. You’ve gathered enough dirt on him and his company, right?"

"It’s going to be noisy for quite a while, Hyung."

"Alright, I’ll prepare, then," Spencer Choi said, and then he changed the topic— obviously trusting Yun Dujun that he’d do well on his own. "Anyway, why did you bring Wonyoung-ssi here? Are you trying to make your husband jealous?"

Yun Dujun frowned at the CEO’s accusation. "I didn’t want to bring Bae Wonyoung here, but he really wants to apologize to Lee Heeju for being rude to him the last time they met."

"And you believed that?"

"Hyung, my husband isn’t a liar."

"My bad," Spencer Choi immediately apologized when Yun Dujun shot him a cold glare. "Yes, apologizing to Lee Heeju might be one of the reasons why Wonyoung-ssi wanted to go here with you. But maybe he has other reasons?"

"Like what?"

"Like cementing his position as your husband?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"You haven’t told Lee Heeju yet that you’re in a genuine relationship with Wonyoung-ssi now, have you?"

"Well, that’s one of the reasons I’m here."

"Then maybe Wonyoung-ssi got impatient, so he came here himself to tell Lee Heeju that you’re now married for real."

"Why would my husband do that?"

"To eliminate his rival, of course," Spencer Choi said, grinning. "Wonyoung-ssi isn’t dense like you, so he had probably noticed already that Lee Heeju has feelings..."

The CEO trailed off, and then he went pale.

It was as if Spencer Choi had a slip of the tongue, and he looked so guilty after saying something that he shouldn’t have probably said.

But it was too late, though.

He heard what the CEO said loud and clear.

Plus, I’m not that dense.

"I just remembered that I have some business to attend to—"

"Lee Heeju has feelings for me?"

Spencer Choi sighed and shut his eyes tight. "I owe Lee Heeju a huge apology."

The CEO didn’t confirm it directly, but it was enough for Yun Dujun to know that Lee Heeju had, indeed, romantic feelings for him.

Dammit.

Bae Wonyoung had probably noticed it from the start.

That was probably why his husband kept saying he was uncomfortable around Lee Heeju.

And, yet, I just keep telling him that he has nothing to worry about...

Yun Dujun was beating himself up for being so stupid, but he got distracted when he got a whiff of Bae Wonyoung’s pheromones.

But it’s not like he’s in heat...

"What’s wrong, Dujun-ah?" Spencer Choi asked curiously. "What are you sniffing in the air?"

"I can smell Bae Wonyoung’s pheromones."

"Really? I don’t smell anything."

"Good. I don’t want other Alphas getting a whiff of my Omega’s pheromones," Yun Dujun said, getting up from his seat. "I’ll check on Bae Wonyoung first."

***

"WONYOUNG-ssi, can you tell when Dujunnie is acting and when he’s not?"

Argh.

Wonyoung heard Lee Heeju’s sarcastic question loud and clear.

In fact, he wanted to answer the damn Alpha sarcastically.

However, Lee Heeju’s pheromones were suffocating him.

He had never been in a fire before. But, if he were, he’d imagine this was it would feel like— like smoke burning your throat and lungs.

It hurts...

The worst part?

Wonyoung couldn’t move.

Heck, he couldn’t even open his mouth to speak.

"Wonyoung-ssi, we all know that Dujunnie is an excellent actor," Lee Heeju said, sipping his coffee elegantly before speaking again. "But even Dujunnie has a weakness as an actor, unfortunately. Do you know what his weakness is?"

How could Wonyoung answer if this scumbag was suffocating him with his pheromones?

It looked like Lee Heeju wasn’t waiting for his answer anyway, as the Alpha bastard kept yapping.

"Dujunnie can act as a passionate lover, but he can’t act like a warm, gentle, and doting husband who loves his partner to death. Sure, he can probably do a good job even with that kind of role— but not good enough to impress a legendary director like Director Bang."

Static.

Wonyoung wanted to cover his ears when something started buzzing in his head, making it difficult for him to fully understand what Lee Heeju was saying.

It’s so noisy...

"I think it’s because Dujunnie never experienced the warmth of a family," Lee Heeju continued running his mouth. "Of course, I’m not saying that you have to kill people to perfectly portray the role of a violent psychopath. I’m just saying that Dujunnie can only copy the portrayal of a doting husband and a good father from the series and films that he had seen. That’s probably why Director Bang didn’t like his acting when it comes to portraying a warm character. It definitely comes across as really fake to him."

Haaah.

Wonyoung was starting to hate the fact that he couldn’t move or talk back.

Why am I listening to this damn Alpha like an idiot?

"Dujunnie knew he had to do something about it. So, for the first time in his life, he resorted to method acting."

’Method acting.’

It meant being so immersed in a character’s life.

I guess you can say that Dujun Hyung is method acting by acting like a doting husband to me.

That was all Wonyoung needed to hear from Lee Heeju.

It was enough information for him to make the Alpha take the blame later.

It’s now my turn to act.

But, first...

Snap out of it, Bae Wonyoung!

When Wonyoung felt like he was about to faint because of suffocation, he released a huge amount of his pheromones.

It was draining, but it was effective.

After all, once his pheromones were scattered in the room, they immediately covered Lee Heeju’s pheromones.

Hence, he was finally able to breathe again!

Wonyoung immediately gasped for air, panting because he really thought he would die from suffocation earlier.

Whew.

"How did..."

"What did you do to me?"

Oh.

Wonyoung talked at the same time Lee Heeju did, but the Alpha trailed off and wasn’t able to finish what he wanted to ask.

The surprising thing was the fact that Lee Heeju looked surprised.

But why?

Wonyoung didn’t bother asking that question, though.

After all, he caught a sniff of Yun Dujun’s scent.

Hyung is coming this way.

"Heeju Ahjussi, have you seen me act?"

Lee Heeju just looked at Wonyoung as if he were confused.

"I’ll show you."

Lee Heeju didn’t get to react because the door suddenly burst open.

As expected, it was Yun Dujun who entered the room with a dark look on his face— obviously unhappy that both Lee Heeju and Wonyoung’s pheromones lingered in the air.

"Dujunnie..."

Yun Dujun ignored Lee Heeju— walking past the chaebol to go over Wonyoung.

But his husband suddenly froze.

"Wonyoung-ah, why are you crying?"

Yes, Wonyoung was crying— his fat tears rolling down his cheeks quietly.

"What’s wrong?" Yun Dujun asked worriedly, getting down on one knee and looking up at Wonyoung with concern in his eyes. "Did Lee Heeju do or say something that upset you?"

"Hyung, is it true?"

"Huh?"

"Is it true that you’re only using me for method acting?"

Yun Dujun’s eyes widened in shock— obviously shocked.

And there was even a glint of fear in the Alpha’s eyes.

"Hyung, Heeju Ahjussi told me that you’re only acting as a doting husband to me to prepare for your audition for Director Bang’s new drama."

By this time, Yun Dujun’s pupils were already shaking— obviously in a panic.

"Bae Wonyoung!" Lee Heeju yelled, slamming his hands on the table while getting up. "Don’t lie!"

Heh.

"Hyung, please tell me it’s not true," Wonyoung said between sobs. The more he cried, the more devastated Yun Dujun looked. "Please tell me you didn’t use me for your method acting."

"Wonyoung-ah, I’m sorry."

Ah.

Those were definitely not the words Wonyoung wanted to hear from Yun Dujun.
