Chapter 117: A Violent Lesson

After hearing the upperclassmen’s thinly veiled threats their warnings that were not really hidden at all a nervous murmur a quiet worried sound rippled through the assembled first-year students.

They exchanged uncertain glances with one another. A mixture of fear and deep confusion was clear on all their young faces.

Then from the crowd of new arrivals a single boy stepped forward. He walked out from the group to stand alone. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

He had vibrant green hair and matching green eyes. It was a striking combination that immediately drew everyone’s attention.

His attire his clothes were far plainer than the lavish fancy clothing worn by most of the other newly admitted students.

This suggested he was not from a particularly wealthy or prominent noble family.

However his physique his body was very well-built.

The toned corded muscles of his arms and shoulders hinted at a life dedicated to rigorous martial arts training. He was a fighter.

He clenched his fist so tightly that his knuckles turned white. And his voice rang out across the dormitory courtyard. It was clear and defiant full of challenge.

"I don’t care about your rules or your little groups," he declared loudly. His gaze swept over the four upperclassmen representatives the red yellow blue and black banded students with open contempt with clear disrespect.

"I entered this United Academy on my own strength my own hard work. And I will graduate from this place the same way. I don’t need your help or your protection. I will become the greatest warrior in this world—stronger even than the Emperor himself!"

His bold almost blasphemous declaration was met with a stunned and complete silence. His words hung in the tense air.

The students belonging to each of the four color-coded groups traded uneasy almost disbelieving looks.

Had this newcomer this first-year nobody truly just declared his intention to surpass the Emperor? And had he done it in the Emperor’s own Academy? It was an unbelievable thing to say.

The tense silence was broken in an instant. It was shattered by sudden violent motion.

From the faction with the blue bands on their uniforms one of the upperclassmen suddenly exploded into motion.

He moved with a speed that was almost impossible to follow with the naked eye. He was a blue blur that closed the distance between himself and the green-haired boy in a single heartbeat.

Before the defiant newcomer could even register the attack before he could even think about raising his hands to defend himself the blue-clad student was right in front of him.

His fist was already chambered pulled back and it was driving forward with brutal efficiency with incredible power.

The punch landed squarely in the green-haired boy’s stomach. A sickening thud sound echoed in the quiet courtyard. It was the sound of a hard fist hitting soft flesh.

An explosion of pain shot through the newcomer’s midsection. It stole the air from his lungs. He gasped trying to breathe. His eyes widened in shock and pure agony.

He staggered backward his body bent over from the force of the blow. He collapsed to the hard stone floor of the courtyard clutching his stomach in pain.

But the assault wasn’t over. The upperclassmen were not finished with him yet.

As the green-haired boy hit the ground a second attacker this one from the group with the black bands sprang high into the air. He leaped with powerful legs.

He descended like a hawk diving for its prey. His leg was extended in a crushing axe kick. It was aimed directly at the fallen boy’s back or head. It was a vicious move.

Fighting through the waves of sharp pain that radiated from his gut from where the first punch had landed the green-haired boy acted.

He relied on pure instinct and the reflexes from his years of hard training. He managed to roll to the side just in the nick of time just before the kick landed.

The black-clad student’s powerful kick missed its intended target the boy’s body. Instead it struck the stone ground with devastating force. The stone floor of the courtyard cracked under the impact.

A spiderweb of fractures spread out from the point where the upperclassman’s heel had landed. He had cracked the solid stone with his kick.

As the newcomer still gasping for breath still in pain tried to scramble back to his feet the blue-uniformed student who had delivered the initial punch was on him again.

He was relentless.

He seized the green-haired boy by the arm. He twisted it hard behind his back. He forced the boy back down to his knees.

The green-haired boy cried out in pain from the twisted arm.

"We warned you," the blue-clad student said his voice cold and devoid of any emotion. He leaned in close to the boy’s ear. His face was a mask of menacing calm. "You will not break the rules of this place under any circumstances. Not even on your first day. You made a big mistake."

The green-haired boy was catching his breath in ragged painful gasps. He glared up at his tormentor at the boy holding him. His green eyes were burning with a mixture of intense pain and a fierce defiant fury.

He was not broken. "So," he spat out his voice hoarse and full of anger "what are you going to do? You intend to kill me? For speaking my mind?"

A cruel smirk a nasty smile touched the lips of the blue-uniformed student. He released the boy’s twisted arm. He shoved him forward so that he stumbled onto his hands and knees on the ground like an animal.

"Relax," the upperclassman said his tone dripping with condescension with a feeling of superiority.

"We have a healer on hand. We are not going to let you die so easily." His words were not comforting. They implied a fate far worse than a quick clean death. They meant they could hurt him again and again and just heal him afterward.

Witnessing all of this watching this swift brutal and coordinated attack the rest of the first-year students stared in abject alarm.

They were terrified.

This was a terrifying demonstration of power and control. Any lingering doubts they might have had about the seriousness of the upperclassmen’s ultimatum were violently erased.

They knew this was real. They knew this was dangerous. Questions and a cold chilling fear churned in their minds. What kind of place was this? What had they gotten themselves into? This was the reality of the famous United Academy.

It was a place where defiance was met not with detention or a scolding from a teacher but with broken bones and public humiliation in front of all your peers.
