I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 228: Catching Up
Although the walk down the cliff was hard as well, Leo didn’t even care about it. Compared to the excitement of returning to his universe, this freezing pain beneath his feet was nothing.
Leo kept limping towards the mansion, and after walking for two hours, he felt like he was within the range of the ship’s observation
If he had his ring, he wouldn’t need to walk so much. He could have established a connection from anywhere, and returned back to the ship, or summoned it to his destination.
Without his items, he was just an ordinary human. Even though the ship still recognized him as his master, it was not as advanced as the Necropolis Ship to be connected to his soul.
He still had to be within the observation range even if he wanted to control the ship with gestures from below.
Once he was within the range, he raised his hand and started making a few hand gestures, as if speaking in a sign language. However, it wasn’t any language. It was the password he had set that only he knew about.
Once his gestures were registered by the ship’s camera field, the ship’s engines roared to power.
Within seconds, Leo felt like a familiar yet comfortable feeling surrounded him.
He was again surrounded by the spatial energy, but it wasn’t as fierce as the portals.
Unlike the chaotic energy of the portal, the energy of the ship felt more like a soothing wash in a sauna.
Before Leo could even appreciate the difference between the two, he found himself standing on the ship which was one of the most advanced in his space sector.
The first thing he did after returning, was to shift a part of the observation field towards the cliff, and set an alert in case any movement was noticed there.
Next, he dragged his body to the medical bay. Along the way, he picked up a bottle of water and a few sandwiches from the freezer.
He chomped down the sandwiches, and gulped down the water as if he hadn’t eaten anything for centuries.
The water even trickled down his lips and fell on his shirt, but he didn’t care.
After he finished eating, he simply tossed the bloody shirt and his pants on the floor, walking almost naked to the medical bay.
He laid on the bed in the bay, and activated the analysis and recovery mood.
A robotic arm stretched out from the machine, and carefully sliced the temporary piece of cloth that he had tied around his wound, ridding himself of his last layer of clothing if it could even be called that.
Once he was comfortably lying on the bed, the scanner activated and started performing an analysis.
Leo expected to be treated only for his leg, but he was slightly surprised when the machine alerted him that he had much more than that.
He had a frost bite, a concussion on his head, dehydration and even internal bleeding, most of which he didn’t know about, or he didn’t have time to even register, only thinking about his leg.
He called his eyes, and activated the healing pod, which soon covered him, activating a timer of thirty minutes.
At the same time, a holographic screen materialised before him inside the healing pod, allowing him to watch anything, or access the galactic net in case he was bored.
He even had the option to be put to sleep while he was going through treatment, but Leo rejected that since he had a feeling that if he fell asleep now, he might not wake up anytime soon.
His body was already so exhausted after all.
Instead of going to sleep, he decided to check the date.
His brows rose when he realized that over six months had already passed in this world since he disappeared, something that left him stunned.
He had considered the possibility of the difference in flow of time, but he didn’t think the difference was that big.
To check something, he opened his system screen and checked. Just as he had thought, the timer for stealing the goblin king’s system was also showing a different deadline.
At first, the timer only gave him one day to complete the task. But now, it was over a month.
He was pleasantly surprised to know that his assumption was right. The one day deadline was given in that other world, which meant that the deadline changed when he entered a world with a different flow of time.
With that, Leo didn’t really need to worry about losing the opportunity because of running out of deadlines. He could wait or even return after enough preparation.
"Incredible. Finally you’re doing something useful."
With a satisfied smile on his face, he closed the system screen and shifted his attention to the holographic screen of the galactic net.
Meanwhile, a syringe with a healing solution was stabbed in his arm, but he barely even noticed it. It was done with such precision that before he could even register pain, the medicine took effect.
Even his legs had started to be healed. The rotten part of his flesh was cut off, and growth of new and improved tissues were stimulated.
Fortunately, the process that was supposed to be painful, didn’t feel so with the painkillers and healing serum in his system.
After half an hour, the healing was finally completed. Meanwhile, Leo was still catching up on the news from the last six months, specifically focused on the war of the Ancient Houses and the mess with Galactic Union.
"There is a temporary ceasefire? Is this a new development?"
The healing pod opened with the treatment completed, meanwhile Leo was still pleasantly surprised.
He had gone through so much, but to receive the good news that the war between ancient houses had temporarily settled, made him almost forget every bad thing that had happened.
He sat up, and shifted his attention. He searched about the Alpha Corp to check what was going on with his company, and his good mood was immediately spoiled.
