Immortal God of War-Chapter 156: Scaring Yourself _1
Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Scaring Yourself _1
Drizzling rain, chilling wind!
Qin Feiyang calmly observed everyone. In the end, he set his sights on the man in black and the old man dressed in blue. Their demeanor was telling, as everyone else was taking their lead from these two. The Qiankun Bag must be on one of them!
"What’s the delay?"
"I’m warning you, don’t try anything sneaky, or else..."
At this point, the man in black turned his head, greed in his eyes. Glancing at Feng Ling’er, he said, "All of us are men, and it’s been a very long time since we’ve touched a woman. Fortunately, your friend here is quite attractive and young..."
Aside from a few women in their group, the other men let out lewd laughs.
A flash of cold light crossed Qin Feiyang’s eyes as he pulled out the Qiankun Bag from his robe. His other hand tightly gripped Blue Snow, his voice deep and threatening, "You will regret this!"
"Regret?" The man in black smirked cynically. The rest of the men joined him in derisive laughter.
"We’ll see how long you can keep laughing," Qin Feiyang muttered under his breath and handed over the Qiankun Bag.
Once I get the Qiankun Bag, I’ll kill you all! the man in black scoffed internally, reaching out to grab the Qiankun Bag.
Suddenly, a fierce glint flared in Qin Feiyang’s eyes and he lunged forward! Blue Snow, hidden in his sleeve, shot out like a venomous viper, slicing through the air.
"AH!" The man in black screamed miserably as the hand reaching for the Qiankun Bag was severed, falling to the ground.
Blood gushed out like a fountain!
At the same moment, Qin Feiyang swept past him and lunged towards Ling Yunfei and Feng Ling’er.
"Bastard!"
"Stop him!" the man in black roared.
Everyone present was caught completely off guard by this sudden turn of events, only reacting after hearing the man’s roar.
"You little beast, you’re courting death!" The old man dressed in blue and the middle-aged woman beside him immediately lunged at Qin Feiyang.
"You’re the ones courting death!" "Soon enough, you’ll realize who you’ve offended!" Qin Feiyang gave a chilling smile. Grabbing Feng Ling’er with one hand and Ling Yunfei with the other, he teleported to the Ancient Fort with a mere thought.
"Huh?"
"Where did they go?" The old man in blue and the middle-aged woman looked at each other, their faces etched with surprise and bafflement.
Everyone else was dumbfounded, disbelief painting their faces.
One moment they were there, and the next, they were gone without a trace.
Did we encounter a ghost this late at night? Or does that man know magic?
"Search, quickly, search!"
"We must find them!"
"I won’t rest until I’ve killed them!" After a moment of shock, the man in black completely lost it, roaring furiously.
However, no one moved. The jungle at night was a veritable graveyard, and they had no desire to die there.
The old man in blue looked at the man in black and furtively furrowed his brows, advising, "Wang Gang, calm down. It’s too dangerous here. We should get to a safe point first."
The middle-aged woman nodded. "That’s right. Sooner or later, they’ll have to pass the safe point. We can lie in wait for them there."
"Fine, let’s go!" Wang Gang grabbed his severed arm and stalked ahead, his eyes cold and menacing.
"Everybody hurry up, and keep an eye out for any movements around," the old man in blue called out, then caught up to Wang Gang, offering comfort, "Don’t be in such a rush. Those two are disciples of the Martial King Palace. There must be a Thousand Spirit Pill in the Qiankun Bag. Even if there isn’t, when morning comes, I’ll send someone to Star Moon City to buy one for you."
Wang Gang nodded. The Thousand Spirit Pill could regenerate severed limbs. Once healed, no side effects would remain.
「At the same time, inside the Ancient Fort!」
Feng Ling’er and Ling Yunfei were lying on the ground quietly. Qin Feiyang had already administered a Top Grade healing pill to them; their complexions and injuries were slowly recovering.
At this moment, Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King were standing nearby, listening attentively to the noises outside, their eyes flashing fiercely with deadly intent!
The Wolf King asked, "They’re gone. What’s your plan now?"
"Do you remember how we hunted down the men from Black Demon Village back in Iron Bull Town?" Qin Feiyang licked his lips, a bloodthirsty smile creeping onto his face.
"Of course, I remember," the Wolf King nodded.
"Back then, we were just Martial Artists and didn’t have the Ancient Fort, yet we were able to eradicate the Black Demon Village. So, why not now?" Qin Feiyang sneered.
"Confidence is good, Brother Wolf, but I must remind you, back then there was moonlight, so you could see clearly."
"But now, you can’t see. That’s the first problem."
"The second problem is that the beasts here are much more powerful than those in Iron Bull Town."
"While we hunt them, we’ll also have to face ambushes from these beasts... I’m afraid the odds are not in our favor..." the Wolf King expressed his concern.
Qin Feiyang fell silent. The Wolf King’s worries were not unfounded; a foolproof plan was needed.
"Let’s go out first." With a wave of his hand, Qin Feiyang led the Wolf King out of the Ancient Fort, trailing the group of people from a distance of forty to fifty meters.
The people in the group would occasionally turn their heads, vigilantly peering behind them. But as long as the Wolf King closed his eyes in time, they could not detect their presence hidden in the darkness.
Moreover, with the group leading the way, they didn’t need to worry about being ambushed by beasts.
Several hundred breaths passed.
The Wolf King asked, "Xiao Qinzi, have you thought of a plan yet?"
"Yes." Qin Feiyang leaned toward the Wolf King’s ear and whispered a few words.
"Will it work?" the Wolf King was skeptical.
"As long as you cooperate well, we can definitely take them out one by one!" Qin Feiyang said with a grim grin.
"Alright." The Wolf King nodded.
Suddenly, it howled to the sky, the cry echoing in the rainy night, lingering for a long time.
"A wolf!" The color drained from Wang Gang’s group’s faces. They stopped abruptly, turned around, and looked back.
Immediately, they saw a pair of ghastly green eyes, like twin ghost fires, that made their hearts pound in terror!
"It really is a wolf!" Panic set in amongst them instantly.
A wolf—cunning, ruthless, cold-blooded, and merciless! Once targeted by a wolf, the outcome would undoubtedly be grim!
"What should we do?" The crowd looked at the man in black and the old man in blue.
The old man in blue whispered, "Everyone, stay calm. There’s only one wolf, and it won’t dare approach with so many of us. Let’s move quickly and not provoke it."
The group hurried onward, sticking close together.
However, they neglected to notice that a man sat atop the wolf.
"Let’s go; follow them," Qin Feiyang said softly.
The Wolf King broke into a swift run.
"Not good, it’s chasing us!" the middle-aged woman shouted, her face filled with panic.
"RUN!" the old man in blue barked.
To a man, they broke into a wild dash.
But ahead, a fearsome beast would occasionally leap out to block their path, greatly slowing them down.
The old man in blue was incensed, roaring, "No more running! We wait for it here! I want to see if it dares to approach us!"
The group of twenty-some people stood their ground, alert and vigilant.
"AWOOO!" The Wolf King howled again.
Everyone tensed. Humans instinctively harbored a fear for ferocious creatures like wolves.
Then, suddenly, the pair of ghostly green eyes disappeared.
"Has it left?" the group mumbled in surprise.
The old man in blue scoffed, "Even a creature so cold-blooded fears death; it must have left."
Yet before they could breathe a sigh of relief, that pair of glimmering green eyes reappeared.
"Damn it!"
"It’s clearly fixed its gaze on us!"
"There might even be a pack of wolves hidden nearby!" the man in black growled, his face grim.
At his words, everyone panicked again, their minds clouded with fear.
The old man in blue gritted his teeth and declared, "This can’t continue! You, you, and you—the three of you go and take a look. If there’s really only one, take it out quickly!" He pointed at three middle-aged men, his tone commanding.
"Us?" Their faces blanched instantly.
The old man in blue yelled, "Get going, now! Or you can fend for yourselves here!"
The three men trembled and, torch in hand, slowly advanced towards the man and the wolf. The torch was made from the bark of a Black Paulownia Tree.
Under the torchlight, beads of sweat, the size of beans, were clearly visible on their foreheads. Sweating in such cold weather was telling of how nervous they were.
So they finally decided to come over? Qin Feiyang’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. He had ordered the Wolf King to do this as a feint, a bluff, to lure these men into their trap.
Then, Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King separated, hiding in the undergrowth on the sides of the path.
"It disappeared again?" The three men paused, startled. Then, overjoyed, they turned to look at the old man in blue, as if asking if they still needed to go since it had vanished.
"Keep going!" the old man in blue ordered.
Their expressions stiffened, but they had no choice but to swallow their fear, turn around, and continue.
Soon, they reached the ambush point set by Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King.
After scanning their surroundings, one of them laughed, "We didn’t spot any wolf; it must have left by now. Let’s hurry back too!"
The other two nodded.
However, just as they turned, the man and the wolf sprang out of the undergrowth.
Qin Feiyang’s target was the man with the torch. Blue Snow, sharp and gleaming, easily severed the man’s neck!
Simultaneously, he grabbed the torch and tossed it into the woods behind him. Instantly, the area was engulfed in darkness.
"AH!" Accompanied by a piercing scream, the Wolf King tore through another man’s throat.
"Help me, quickly!" Only one man remained. He wildly brandished his broadsword in the darkness, screaming for help from the man in black and the others!
"What do we do?" The group in the distance was in a panic.
AH! The next moment, another shrill scream echoed.
They knew the last man was also dead.
All these events transpired so swiftly; they were caught thoroughly unprepared.
"Everyone, quiet!" the old man in blue snapped, his face grim.
Everyone shut up at once. Looking at the pair of gleaming green eyes in the distance, their hearts sank.
"Did anyone notice, there were two shadows just a while back?" the old man in blue asked in a grave tone.
The middle-aged woman nodded. "Indeed, there were two shadows. It seems like it’s not one wolf, but two!"
Although Qin Feiyang had discarded the torch instantly, most of them had managed to catch a glimpse of his shadow.
However, they hadn’t seen clearly, so they assumed it was another wolf.
"No, if there were indeed two wolves, shouldn’t there be two pairs of eyes?" someone else interjected.
The old man in blue replied, "Wolves are crafty by nature. The other one might have been keeping its eyes shut or squinting all along to deceive us and catch us off guard."
Upon hearing this, the group was utterly terrified, completely at a loss.
How could we be so unlucky, running into such a cunning beast? What do we do now?
What they did not realize was that they were overthinking it, scaring themselves unnecessarily.
