In Konoha, This Naruto Has Decided To Take It Easy-Chapter 472 Information Obtained
Chapter 472 - 472 Information Obtained
In the morning, Naruto, wearing a pair of shorts, went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for both of them. He also casually mentioned the issue with his clothes to Nao. She leaned on the bed and chuckled with her hands covering her mouth.
"Clothes really are that expensive nowadays. You won't find a better price anywhere else."
"Sigh." Naruto let out a deep breath and glanced at Nao, whose blush still hadn't faded. "Do you believe me? In twenty years, I'll be very rich."
"Really?" Nao teased, "As if I'm after your money. It doesn't matter whether you have money or not. In times like these, being safe and sound is what's important."
Her voice was still a bit hoarse, but she looked quite attractive. Her facial features were somewhat similar to Nohara Rin's, but her figure was even better. Konoha wasn't short on beautiful women, after all, Shinobi had good genes.
Her fingers were long and slender, her lips red and teeth white, and her steps light and graceful.
"Safe, huh?" Naruto replied as he finished washing up, then he picked her up and carried her along with him.
In front of the mirror, the two of them stood side by side, brushing their teeth. Naruto wasn't easily moved emotionally, but Nao, experiencing such thing for the first time, had become soft and delicate after just one night.
Despite some lingering doubts in her heart, she was quickly satisfied and didn't show her uncertainties. She didn't care about it anymore. Why overthink it? Why worry about tomorrow when today was what mattered?
After a day's rest, Naruto also suppressed his temper and patiently kept her company. Although he didn't have much emotion in his heart, he still did what he needed to do.
Another day passed, and Nao almost couldn't go to work at Konoha Hospital again. It was only because she stopped halfway that the accident was avoided.
Time passed like this for two or three days. And Naruto had sneaked into the archive room a few times to search. After sifting through a mountain of documents, he spent hours searching until finally, Nao found what they were looking for first.
"What do you need this for?" She asked, slapping the file on the table, "It's not for you, is it? Dual personalities?"
"Don't worry about it, it definitely not for me." Naruto pushed her aside and began to examine the classified file himself.
"Hmph." Nao has become much more cheerful these days. Naruto had been staying with her openly, practically living off of her, and she didn't mind.
Anyway, she was not short of money, and she had also come to respect Naruto during these days. She no longer saw herself in control, thinking of him as her possession.
The more they spent time together, the more Nao realized she couldn't fully understand this man. At the very least, she no longer believed she could control him, and she even started feeling uncertain.
Naruto skimmed through the file, which contained detailed records of Konoha's research on dual personalities. He sat down and began to read it thoroughly.
After a while, he noticed something strange. Glancing down, he asked, "What are you doing?"
"Hehe."
With a rustling sound, the file was set aside. By the time Naruto picked it back up, it was already late at night. He continued reading line by line as Nao stirred awake in the middle of the night.
Seeing Naruto reading the information under the lamplight, she felt a sense of unreality. Reflecting on the crazy events of the past few days, she felt as if he might disappear at any moment.
Shaking her head, she got up from the bed in a somewhat disheveled state. She walked drowsily across the floor barefoot to Naruto, and wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"I met a strange patient yesterday."
"Well, why is it strange?" Naruto responded absentmindedly, still focused on reading the document. The old records were difficult to read under the dim light, as some of the text had faded with time.
"The girls from the Medical Department were joking about you, and he got really excited, claiming he knew you."
Hearing this, Naruto paused in his reading. He looked up slowly, his gaze flickering toward Nohara Nao under the bright lamp as he asked, "And then?"
"He said a lot about you and even asked where you were, saying he wanted to see you." Nao continued, chuckling as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Of course, I refused him. My husband isn't someone just anyone can meet."
Naruto didn't say anything, and continued to read line by line with his head down, but his reading speed was obviously much faster than before. Nao leaned in for a kiss, but Naruto turned his head, dodging her.
"Are you mad?" She asked.
"No, just busy." He said without even raising his head, "I've got a mission tomorrow. Yamashiro came to find me this afternoon just to let me know."
"But don't worry, you're not on the list. Seems like you're about to get officially transferred into the Medical Department, so you won't be sent to the cannon fodder team as a Medical-nin."
Nao also stopped moving, bit her lower lip and said, "I want to go too."
"Why would you go?" Naruto paused, raised his head and said in a displeased tone, "Did I not make it clear enough? We are a cannon fodder team. We are already considered lucky if one of us comes back alive."
"I'm not afraid of you. I can make sure you survive." She clung to him again and pressed her red lips against Naruto's face, "Anyway, I've lived enough. Either we die together, or we live together."
"Are you crazy?" Naruto pushed her aside, "If it were your first time on the battlefield, I wouldn't bother convincing you. I'd just tie you up."
"Everyone who comes back does so by escaping death, and you're telling me you've had enough of life? Who would believe that?"
"Fine, I haven't had enough." Nao hesitated, then admitted, "Of course I want to live, and I also thought about pulling you into the Medical Department. Even if it's difficult, you could learn."
"That way, we could both survive. We could get a dog and live peacefully until we're old. Didn't you say that you'd be rich in twenty years? I want to live until then so we can both enjoy that wealth."
"But you're lying to me, or maybe you're not even the real Kitahiko." She fixed her gaze on Naruto, "I don't know what your goal is, and I haven't told anyone."
"You're going to leave, aren't you? But without you, I wouldn't be able to keep living. So why not go on this mission together? You don't need to worry, Konoha loses countless Shinobi in missions every day."
Naruto turned his head and looked at Nao who is kneeling on the sofa, with tears in her eyes.
"Don't say that to anyone else."
"I won't." Nao sobbed and shook her head gently, "I won't tell anyone but you. It's fine if you don't want to show your true self."
"You can lie to me, but I just want to know one thing. These past few days, were you only with me for the file I gave you?"
"No." Naruto lied without hesitation, "The file was secondary. If you hadn't given it to me, I would've found it myself."
This kind of statement is actually hard to stand up to scrutiny, but if the other party believes it, it was as solid as steel.
"Really?"
"Yeah." Naruto pulled her close and conducted a 'quality check' on the sofa.
...
The next day.
Naruto made breakfast and was about to leave when he saw Nao standing at the door, holding onto the frame and looking at him. She looked like she wanted to say something but hesitated, her fingers gripping the door tightly.
"Will you come back safely?"
"Yeah."
He didn't say much else. Wearing the old, bloodstained green vest from the bed, he walked out. The information was already in hand, so it didn't matter whether this mission was done or not.
He considered faking his death on the battlefield and using it as a chance to dispose of the real Kitahiko. That way, all traces would be erased. He'd have the file, and Kitahiko would get to live a few extra days.
Perfect. A complete win-win situation.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Naruto turned and headed out the door.
