Infinite Doubling: Conquering the Divine Realm from an Island-Chapter 37: A Fight to the Death
The moment George spoke, the players who had been crying out in despair suddenly froze.
They all knew his name — George, the player the Azure League had put a bounty on across the entire North.
Most of them also knew that today’s whole disaster had started because of him.
But what shocked them was that George chose to stay — even when almost every high-level player had already run away!
Lying on the ground, Origi stared at him in disbelief. "George, why? Your account is too valuable to lose!"
He wasn’t wrong. George’s strength and potential combined made him one of the top players in the entire game.
To throw it all away here seemed far too reckless.
George looked at him seriously, then smiled. "Forgot to tell you my class — I’m a Peacekeeper."
He had never forgotten his duty. Being a Peacekeeper was what had first allowed him to rise up — and now, he would honor what that title stood for.
When the players heard those words, shame flickered across many of their faces.
They had always looked down on Peacekeepers, mocking them as useless NPCs — some had even joined the Azure League in hunting down the Peacekeeper Office.
But now, when everything was falling apart, it wasn’t the so-called great Azure League that stood to protect them.
It was the Peacekeeper — the one they had scorned.
"Lord George! What can we do to help you?" one player shouted, his voice filled with guilt.
George glanced up at the massive Eye of the Demon hovering above and said coldly, "If we stand together, maybe we can defeat it."
At those words, the eye in the sky seemed to twist in mockery — as if it thought George’s claim was laughable.
"Yes! Let’s kill it together!" Origi stood up shakily and shouted.
"Yeah! Kill it!" more players echoed, courage slowly returning to their voices.
"Lord George, I might have an idea!" someone yelled suddenly from the crowd.
George looked down and saw a bearded middle-aged man stepping forward.
"Allow me to introduce myself — I’m Kare, the City Lord of Disail," the man said with a bow.
"The City Lord?" George’s eyes lit up. He realized this must be the trigger for an NPC protection event.
Kare cleared his throat and spoke slowly, "Our city, Disail, has a defense formation. If everyone joins forces, we can activate it together."
He paused and looked at George seriously. "Once it’s active, the formation will give you powerful buffs, boosting all your stats. If you can hold out for thirty minutes, our reinforcements will arrive."
George nodded, instantly understanding what Kare meant.
Everyone would pour their strength into the formation, and all that power would be channeled into him—George.
Then he alone would stand against the Eye of the Demon.
"What do you all think?" George asked, glancing around at the crowd of players.
"We agree!" they shouted in unison.
They knew rushing in together would only make things worse.
Letting George fight while they supported from behind was the smarter choice.
Seeing everyone’s resolve, Kare wasted no time. He ordered the Peacekeepers to start organizing players and setting up the formation.
The players understood how urgent the situation was and didn’t dare to waste a second. In just ten minutes, the defensive array was ready.
But what bothered George was how the eye in the sky never once looked worried.
It watched their efforts with the same mocking calm—as if watching a bunch of fools perform for its amusement.
"Activate the formation!" Kare shouted, pulling out the City Lord’s Seal and channeling power into it.
In an instant, the strength of every player around them gathered and surged toward George like a roaring tide.
George’s stats skyrocketed—double, triple, fivefold... tenfold!
Finally, at fifteen times his normal strength, the formation’s energy was spent.
George’s body trembled under the sheer force of it. The power felt almost unreal, like it didn’t belong to him.
But the moment his boost completed, the Eye of the Demon also reached its breaking point.
The bloodline backlash was done.
The sky turned crimson, as if soaked in blood. The massive eye tore through the clouds, slowly rising before George.
Even with fifteen times his power, George felt his heart tighten.
After all—he was facing an organ of one of the most powerful demons from the ancient war between gods and demons.
The giant eye fixed on George, and suddenly, the blood-red sigil inside its iris began to spin at Speed Boost.
As the mark shifted again and again, one demon after another emerged from the clouds, surrounding George in all directions.
"To deal with you... I don’t even need to act myself."
The eye didn’t speak aloud, yet the words echoed clearly inside George’s mind.
It was pure contempt from an ancient, top-tier demon—for it, every player here was nothing but an insect.
George’s face hardened. He gripped the Dwarven King’s Iron Hammer tightly, let out a deep growl, and raised it high above his head.
In an instant, hundreds of ice dragons burst forth from the hammer’s shining light, surging toward the horde of demons.
The demons, however, were no pushovers—they began fighting back immediately.
It became clear right away that their strength varied greatly.
The stronger demons only suffered a brief Frostbite lasting about 0.2 seconds, while the weaker ones froze solid for four or five seconds straight.
George wasn’t about to waste that chance. He drew out a Mana Crystal and a Dark Crystal, igniting their energy. His figure flickered across the battlefield like a reaper, cutting down demon after demon.
In no time, dozens of demons lay shattered beneath his hammer—crushed into mangled flesh and ash.
Finally, the Eye of the Demon turned its full attention toward him.
It had been summoned before by Eli to kill players—but never had any of its targets lasted this long.
This one, though... this player was different.
"Interesting," the ancient demon thought, and then activated Bloodlust Devour.
Instantly, the lesser demons it had summoned began howling and screaming in agony.
As their cries grew louder, their eyes turned completely blood-red, and their power started to spike violently.
George could feel it—the strength of nearly every demon around him had doubled.
He took a sharp breath and triggered Blood Rite!
Sacrificing half his HP, George’s stats climbed even higher, his aura growing more intense by the second.
Without hesitation, he started burning through Holy Crystals, flooding the battlefield with flashes of radiant light.
Wielding the Dwarven King’s Iron Hammer, he clashed again and again with the demonic horde.
"Split Soul Slaughter! Phantom Shadows! Sacred Barrier! Protector of the Sea God!"
George roared the skill names one after another, refusing to drag the fight out any longer.
A surge of color burst across the battlefield—five shimmering lights blending together.
Now, there were two of him: one holding the Iron Hammer, the other gripping the Holy Sword.
Moving like phantoms, the two Georges weaved through the chaos, tearing through the army of demons.
Above the battlefield, the phantom of the Sea God had been summoned. It swung its massive trident again and again, calling forth one Tsunami after another.
"That’s... a Quasi-Divine Artifact?" the Eye of the Demon narrowed, a greedy glint flashing across its gaze as it stared at the phantom.
The Sea God was one of the highest divine beings. Even if what George held wasn’t a true Divine Artifact, it still carried a trace of divine essence.
If the Eye could seize it, the gain would be tremendous.
"Looks like I’ll have to step in myself," the Eye of the Demon hissed with a dark laugh, then activated the skill Magic Eye.
The eye began to expand rapidly, accompanied by a low, chilling chant that sent shivers down George’s spine.
Then, sharp system messages echoed beside his ears:
[Skill Sealed: Phantom Shadows — Duration 60s]
[Skill Sealed: Bloody Hands — Duration 60s]
[Skill Weakened: Bloodlust — Attribute reduced by 50%]
[Equipment Sealed: Dwarven King’s Iron Hammer]
[Equipment Weakened: Holy Light Wings — Attribute reduced by 30%]
With every message, George felt his strength slipping away. His Dwarven King’s Iron Hammer suddenly became nothing more than an ordinary piece of metal, and his Holy Light Wings slowed, their glow dimming along with their power.
He frowned deeply. This was the first time he’d ever faced a debuff that could both seal and weaken his skills.
Worse still — even Divine Transformation couldn’t remove it.
"What can you possibly fight me with now?"
The mocking voice of the Eye of the Demon echoed again in his mind.
George gritted his teeth, his thoughts racing. Should he use Divine and Demonic Descent?
But that skill was too extreme — his last, god-tier trump card.
"What skills do I still have left?" he thought quickly, running through his list.
Frostbite, Frenzy Slam, Guardian Spirit, Split Soul Slaughter, Blood Rite...
"Wait."
George suddenly drew a sharp breath, eyes locking onto Guardian Spirit, Blood Rite, and Split Soul Slaughter.
A plan sparked in his mind.
Guardian Spirit could summon a protector that absorbed all incoming damage for six seconds — at the cost of half his mana.
If he combined it with Blood Rite and Split Soul Slaughter...
He could first use Blood Rite to convert most of his Martial Energy into mana, then use his clone from Split Soul Slaughter to repeatedly summon Guardian Spirits, burning mana instead of HP.
He might not be able to defeat the Eye of the Demon outright —but he could hold it off long enough.
