Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 408: Eyes Of Life
"You…" Mikaela muttered. "But they must not have been aware of the restrictions the Ancestors of Yggdrasil placed on your freedom!"
"Yes," Lilia agreed. "Their original plan to lure me out failed. And they severely underestimated my husband, so their Plan B failed as well. This allowed for my son to ascend and advance far beyond what they thought possible.
Even so, the Dissonants will not give up so easily. This is also partly why I've come to you—I need your help with something."
'Princess Lilia's son… I wonder what he's like…'
The more Memphis heard of this person, the more intrigued she became. He sounded like quite the extraordinary figure.
Quite the extraordinary figure indeed…
Mikaela matched the seriousness of her friend. "Naturally, I'll assist you in whatever way I can. But do tell me something—how is it that you learned all of this? If I'm not mistaken, your youngest sister was very thorough in ensuring that you were tormented here, even going so far as to block off all contact with the outside world."
Lilia went quiet.
OOOM…
A green leafy energy radiated from within her pupils, exuding a level of incomprehensibility that shocked even Mikaela. She examined this energy, sensing both the Laws of Time and Space, as well as the Fundamental Essence of Existence.
"This is…"
"It's the 'Eyes of Life,'" said Lilia, no longer withholding the truth. "I've never told anyone except for Adam, but for your assistance, you deserve to know. More so than my little sister, I acquired never-before-seen traces of the True Yggdrasil Lineage. But because of its divine ability to cloak itself, not even the Overseer of Yggdrasil—the Tree Spirit—was able to discern its existence.
If the World Tree of Yggdrasil is the Lifeforce of the Universe, then I'm the one closest to achieving the same level of omniscience and omnipresence. Unfortunately, the Tree doesn't possess much combat ability, or else I never would've been reduced to such a state.
And even then, I can't control this ability very well."
"But every so often," she added dramatically. "I'll catch glimpses of the past or future. As of late, those glimpses have been related to my son, and though I still haven't figured out how he progressed so quickly, it's very possible only those like the Heavenly Progenitor and Yggdrasil Ancestors can now rival him."
'I shouldn't tell anyone about his true destiny and the prophecies… For his sake…'
"!?!?"
'He actually progressed so much—even surpassing my own strength!?? How is this possible??' Mikaela thought in astonishment, disbelief strewn across her face. 'Just what has he endured to achieve a feat like that!?? How much could possibly change within such a short period of time?!?'
Everything.
Everything could change.
Entire lifetimes had passed for Cassius. Civilizations rose up across Dimensions because of him—and some also fell to his sword and scythe…
Revealing a profoundly sad look of pride, Lilia said, "The thing I regret most is not being by his side to personally witness him accomplishing all that he has… I even hear that he has conquered the first six floors of every Ascension Tower… Isn't that amazing…?"
Before Archangel Mikaela could agree, her daughter interjected. "There's actually someone like that?? How have I not heard of him!?"
Mikaela observed the outburst of her daughter, a small smirk forming as she remembered the relationship her silly girl had with that Cassius.
Lilia noticed this slight change in her friend but didn't bring it up. Instead, she watched as Mikaela said, "You'll just have to wait and meet him yourself, my dear daughter. It's almost guaranteed that he'll be at the Tournament in Holy Mother City."
"He will!?" Memphis asked. "But that doesn't make any sense… If he's as capable as claimed, then his Rank is surely already above the Transcendent Rank—same as me. Why would he be at the Tournament that's limited to the Transcendent Rank??"
Mikaela's smirk widened. "I suppose you'll just have to figure out the answer to that when the time arrives."
Although she too wondered what that devilish young man had in mind, there was no way he was missing out on the Tournament of Yggdrasil.
'I'm no longer able to sense his presence, but even so, I can instinctively feel that he has already arrived,' Mikaela thought to herself as she and the rest all looked outside a hole that led to the world beyond.
"Why are we staring out this hole…?" Sylvy cutely furrowed her brows, completely lost when it came to the activities of adults.
— Meanwhile, in a secret dimension an astronomical number of miles away —
Aurora had just finished explaining things to Cassius. This gave him the opportunity to summarize what he heard.
"So that's how it is," said Cassius as he hit one hand against the other. "Martial Master is useless."
*Flop!*
"U-Useless…?" Aurora repeated, struggling to stand. "After hearing of my tragic and endearing past, that's what you have to say!?"
The stoic, starry-haired powerhouse of Yggdrasil was nowhere to be seen. In her place was a woman who was beyond exasperated at the nonchalant feedback from her Disciple's son.
"Martial Master, you really are useless, though," said Cassius as he flashed her a look of pity. "Not only did you fail to accomplish simple tasks so many times that the Yggdrasil Ancestors shunned and demoted you—your very own Disciple grew tired of you."
"Hey!" Aurora hurriedly tried to think of something she could use in her defense.
"Hey… Hey…"
"I think you broke her, Master," Zara commented, deriving great joy from watching that voluptuous woman struggle so much.
"Mashter, you got rid of the barrier, so that means Yimins can put da bitch in a stew, right!?"
Yimin was bouncing up and down, as ready as she'd ever be.
"No," replied Cassius, dashing away her hopes. "And I only erased my barrier because this woman doesn't have much sensitive information to disclose to begin with. She's just a pitiable, extremely lazy—and most notably—an unreliable woman that never bothered to change her ways."
*Kuk! Kuk!*
Aurora was pierced through the heart by arrows multiple times over, wondering where the justice in the world was!
"You… You… You're mean…"
