Infinite Regeneration In The Apocalypse-Chapter 113: Final: Ultimate Evolution!
Vogue’s consciousness jumped instantly to the finger he had thrown far away, which had already finished growing into a complete clone body by the time his mind transferred into it.
He gasped sharply and spun around, watching from a safe distance as the building where he’d just been fighting erupted in a final massive explosion. The entire structure collapsed inward, floors pancaking on top of each other, sending up a huge cloud of dust and debris that filled the street.
Without wasting time, Vogue quickly made his way back to the ruins once the dust began settling. He carefully searched through the rubble until he found what he was looking for—the loot that the second legendary creature had dropped upon death.
There were three items lying among the destroyed concrete and twisted metal.
Two books, both bound in strange leather that seemed to shift colors when he moved them. And a single dried-up stick that was perfectly straight and gave off a faint warmth despite appearing completely dead.
Vogue quickly stored all three items in his system inventory. He didn’t have time right now to examine them properly or figure out what they did. Every minute he wasted was a minute his competitors could be using to close the gap.
He needed to finish this race.
Vogue continued killing radiants throughout the rest of the night, moving systematically through neighborhoods and clearing building after building. His clones spread out to cover more ground, each one operating independently while feeding kills back to the main count.
He killed and killed without stopping, his blade never resting, his techniques flowing one into another in an endless cycle of destruction.
As the first rays of sunlight from the four suns began creeping over the horizon, marking the beginning of the third day of the trial, Vogue was in the middle of clearing out a pack of radiants that had been hiding in an abandoned warehouse.
His blade came down and destroyed the final radiant’s heart. The creature collapsed, and in that exact moment, a notification appeared before his eyes that made his heart leap.
[Ding! You have killed 10,000 radiants]
[Requirements met for Ultimate Evolution]
[Do you wish to evolve using Ultimate Evolution? Y/N]
[WARNING: This decision is irreversible]
[WARNING: Only one participant per trial can achieve Ultimate Evolution] 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
[WARNING: Evolution process cannot be interrupted once begun]
Vogue let out a long breath of relief, his shoulders sagging slightly as tension he’d been carrying for days finally released. He had done it. He had actually reached ten thousand kills and beaten the other competitors to the finish line.
But he couldn’t start the evolution process here in the middle of an open warehouse. The warning about not being able to interrupt it meant he would be completely vulnerable during the transformation. He needed somewhere safe and defensible.
Vogue quickly killed the remaining hundred or so radiants in the surrounding area just to clear the immediate vicinity. Then he made his way to a location he had scouted earlier—a large corporate office building that he had already cleared of all radiants.
The building was a solid structure with good sight lines and only a few entry points. It would serve his purposes perfectly.
Now that his third dragon head had awakened—the Fire Dragon—Vogue discovered he could create three additional clones beyond his previous limit of six. That gave him nine total clones he could maintain simultaneously.
He immediately created all nine clones by severing nine fingers and letting them grow. Once they had fully formed, he positioned them strategically throughout the building and around its perimeter. Their orders were simple: guard him at all costs and kill anything that approached while he was evolving.
Vogue made his way to the top floor executive office, a large room with floor-to-ceiling windows that gave a panoramic view of the destroyed city. He moved a leather sofa to the center of the room and sat down cross-legged on it, settling into a meditation posture.
He inhaled deeply and steadied his breathing, calming his racing heart and focusing his mind. He had suffered too much over these past three days. He had died multiple times and been brought back through Clone Jump. He had been hunted, betrayed, injured, burned, frozen, stabbed, exploded, and torn apart.
But all of it had led to this moment.
If it weren’t for his multiple talents working together—regeneration, pain nullification, time manipulation, cloning, and now three dragon heads—he would have died permanently dozens of times over. It was no wonder the survival rate for Ultimate Evolution attempts was so incredibly low. Most people simply couldn’t handle the grinding required.
But Vogue had made it.
"Yes," he spoke clearly to the system. "Evolve using Ultimate Evolution."
[Command accepted]
[Beginning Ultimate Evolution process]
[Evolution will begin in 3... 2... 1...]
"BOOM!"
Vogue felt a massive explosion detonate inside his mind, like a bomb going off directly in his brain. His entire body began shaking violently, every muscle spasming and twitching completely beyond his control.
Even the expensive leather sofa underneath him started shaking violently from the tremors running through his body. The furniture rattled and vibrated so hard that it suddenly exploded into pieces, leather and cushioning and wood fragments scattering across the floor.
Vogue’s body lifted slightly off the ground, hovering in mid-air as though gravity had stopped affecting him. He remained in his cross-legged meditation position, but now he was floating.
A massive amount of power suddenly began pouring into his entire body from an unknown source. The energy came from everywhere and nowhere, flowing into him like water being poured into an empty vessel.
The strange power filled his body inch by inch, spreading through every part of him with meticulous thoroughness. His body began glowing with brilliant white light that grew steadily brighter.
All of his orifices started glowing intensely as though a massive torch was burning inside his body and shining out through every opening. Light poured from his eyes, his mouth, his nose, his ears. Even his skin pores began glowing, thousands of tiny points of light covering his entire body.
