Well, the three Rules he possessed were certainly out of the question, first and foremost. He barely had the ability to utilize them fully as he was now, at the peak of the third realm in both body and qi, so upgrading them further would not make them easier to use, but rather far harder.
As such, Li Ling naturally focused on his Daoist Arts in numerical order as the Infinite Slaughter System presented them, and the first of them was the Fire Stream Art at Perfection.
This one was kind of useful to him, so he didnβt plan to sacrifice or fuse it as of now. Previously, Li Ling harbored the thought of fusing the five basic Daoist Arts into one to create a Grandmist-level Daoist Art, but that was when he had just entered the second realm and didnβt have the abilities he did now.
As such, whether to keep this one or not was mostly middle of the road in terms of decisive value. In the end, the limit break cost had increased from 50 Slaughter Points at the Second Realm to 100 Slaughter Points at the Third Realm, which was reasonable to Li Ling and very cheap.
So why not?
He immediately limit broke the Fire Stream Art and felt the weight of comprehension in his Sea of Consciousness. With his upgraded Dharma Sense and mind, it still required about five minutes to grasp the full extent of this new technique, and its power increase was not small either.
At Qi Refinement, the basic Daoist Art of the fire element was the Fireball Technique, widely known and widely circulated. At Foundation Establishment, it was the Fire Stream Art, something every Foundation Establishment cultivator could buy for about 1000 low-grade spirit stones and was also the βbasicβ fire element technique of the realm.
Though it was important to know that the Fireball Technique and the Fire Stream Art, though both being the basic fire techniques of their respective realms, were not actually directly related. The Infinite Slaughter System evolving one to the other was not a direct replacement or overwrite, as Li Ling could still always use the βpreviousβ version.
But for the third realm, the basic fire element attack was now much more powerful, though far less common. It was called the Li Fire Golden Sun Art, which was actually similar to the previous Meteor Spell, in that one pointed their finger upward and slowly generated a mass of elemental energy that took solid form.
However, while the Meteor Spell was basically Madaraβs βHeaven Concealedβ, the Li Fire Golden Sun was essentially Coolerβs βSupernovaβ.
Of course, the Daoist Art, even at Perfection, did not yet have planet-destroying power like the Supernova, but it could certainly cause hundreds of thousands of kilometers of desolation and disaster, akin to a first-generation nuclear warhead.
The previous Fire Stream Art could at most affect an area of ten kilometers around Li Ling at Perfection, but the Li Fire Golden Sun started at 1000 kilometers of direct exposure to the attack, with the aftershocks spreading even further.
Its evolution was also direct. At the Entry level, the Li Fire Golden Sun was around the size of a giant boulder with a temperature of 1,000 degrees Celsius, exploding over a range of 100 kilometers with a minor shockwave.
At the Advanced level, the Li Fire Golden Sun doubled in size, and so too did its temperature increase by twofold, reaching 2,000 degrees Celsius. Its explosion range surged to 200 kilometers at the least, meaning that if you could survive the first by being 150 kilometers away, you were unfortunately going to perish at this level.
The Expert level saw another doubling, the size of the Golden Sun reaching levels that could blot out the sun for an entire kilometer-long stretch of people below who were looking up. Its temperature reached 4,000 degrees Celsius at the least, and its applicable distance of explosion was doubled to 400 kilometers.
The penultimate Mastery brought the Li Fire Golden Sun to a size where it could now cause a spectacle that stretched for over two kilometers over the land below, its heat causing the air itself to burn at 8,000 degrees Celsius, while its area of effect had definitely reached 800 kilometers, enough to swallow multiple cities in one go, obliterating more than half of even the largest kingdom.
As for Perfection, it was already stated, since due to the mechanics behind the Infinite Slaughter Systemβs breakthrough, the newly comprehended Li Fire Golden Sun jumped to this level, which gave him access to its full power right off the bat.
All for 100 Slaughter Points.
Infinite Slaughter System, maybe you should rename yourself the βMost Useful and Affordableβ System?
Haha.
Li Ling chuckled to himself and focused on the next Daoist Art, the Mana Regressing Art. This one was extremely useful and was not going anywhere, as its main role was to control his energy fluctuation to display what realm he wanted others to see.
Li Ling was admittedly a high-profile bastard. He had tried the low-key path before awakening the system and even maintained a semblance of low-key behavior when he raised his power in the Hunting Encampment of the Number 9 Qing Shan Marketplace, but his murder of Qiu Yaoli back then spurred him onto the path of a high-profile menace, and he had never stepped down since then.
But even the most high-profile bastard knew that there were times when one had to be cautious, and the tense standoff between Zhen Xueren and the Flood Dragon Brothers, all at the Seventh Realm, was one of them. Without this art to completely hide his second realm back then and then front with his Void Seeking Physique, he would have been smashed to death or captured to be interrogated as to how he could move through space while being so weak.
So he paid the 100 Slaughter Points without hesitation, and indeed, it seemed that limit break upgrades for skills that already had versions existing in Firmament Heaven were now capped at five minutes, because that was all it took.
Its new name was the Dharma Concealing Art, and it hadnβt changed much except for raising all its abilities one tier higher. At the Entry level, one could reduce from Core Formation Perfection to the mid-stage of Core Formation at best, which was what most chose to do.
After all, they still wanted the prestige of the Core Formation Realm while maintaining enough hidden firepower to overturn the situation. At the Advanced level, though, one could completely go down to the first stage of Core Formation from Perfection, which was hiding two whole βmajorβ sub-realms of power, enough to catch many off guard.
But it was nothing compared to the Expert level, where one could push down to the Perfection of Foundation Establishment and present themselves as one major realm lower. At that point, playing the pig to eat the tiger would yield very fruitful results indeed.
At the penultimate Mastery level, one could push themselves to the early level of Foundation Establishment, and this was completely ridiculous, because now your prey had expanded from those within your true major realm to even those one level below.
Just how much did you want to hide?
At the Perfection stage of the Dharma Concealing Art, one could naturally suppress themselves from the Perfection of Core Formation down to complete and utter mortaldom, unseemly and unimpressive to the eyes of all cultivators.
Here, one would become formless and unseen, able to take on the fabled role of the old man sweeping the sect grounds, waiting for the main character to come over and take him as a disciple to leech off that sweet plot armor!
