Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 391 - Leaving for the next town
Chapter 391: Chapter 391 - Leaving for the next town
With that last thing on our agenda done, all the things I needed to do in Bragen City has been completed. I tried to bring Claude to the family registration office to make things official but he declined. He said he decided to wait for my return and after I have done everything I needed to do in the north and if I still want him by then, he will marry me with no qualms. I respected his decision as we opted to pass by the pub to eat and then return to the inn afterwards.
During the night, I told him that I needed to sneak out to check on things. He nodded and told me to come back soon without asking any questions. That night, I made sure to place purification seals on all the wells in the city, place blessing on their fields as well as the land that I bought for Claude. I also dug up part of the river for the future pond of fish that I will be building for my lover. I also placed the same purification seals on the river next to our property to ensure that the water is clean to drink and cook with. Lastly, I placed a barrier around the property to keep the people living in it safe, not that I will not leave protection items on Claude, of course.
I was away for about two hours before I sneaked back inside the inn, took a shower and slid back under the sheets. Claude immediately inched near me and hugged me. Not even a minute passed, I can already hear his calm breathing as if he knew that everything is already alright.
The next morning, I woke up before sunrise and even if I moved as silently as I can, Claude still got woken up from my absence on the bed. He looked at me curiously as he watched me dress up in a more formal manner, order breakfast for the both of us and pack my luggage in a small bag.
He was quiet and simply observing but I knew that he understood that today is the day I will leave Bragen. I gave him final instructions such as about the construction of the house and the orphanage. I also told him that I opened a separate account for him in the city’s bank where I left his allowance which he can use anyway he sees fit while I am away. He knows that I forbid him to work in Qadreja ever again.
To make sure that he cut ties with the place, I accompanied him to Bloom, got rid of his employment contract, took all of his things from his personal room and left there for the last time. I allowed him to continue working at the pub though since he has been working for the trustworthy owners for a few years now. With the allowance I gave him, he really doesn’t need to work but I respect that he wants to earn his own money.
I gave him a ring and placed it on his right thumb. I told him that it was for storage, protection, communication and identification for the bank. He held on to the ring tight and told me that he would take care of it. I told him that it won’t be lost and is practically invisible to others so he doesn’t have to worry. I taught him how to use its functions and he looked at me as if realizing something. I smiled at him expecting that he would ask more questions but he simply told me, "Tell me when you think I deserve to know about it."
After a rather calm goodbye from Claude, I left the city of Bragen. No, not really, I made myself invisible and checked on my guy one last time. Just as expected, after I left, he went and cried his eyes out as if I abandoned him. Damn. Let’s just say I gave him a thorough session just like our first night together and once he is knocked out, I finally left for the next town.
I went to the guards’ barracks to fetch my wagon and my horses that looked like they gotten fatter after just two days of staying here in Bragen. The horses looked excited upon seeing me. They energetically pulled the wagon out of the barracks, across the city and then we exited the northern gates of Bragen at full speed.
Since there was barely any cargo in the wagon (almost everything is in my storage space), the horses galloped energetically as if wanting to shed the weight they gained from being fed too well at the barracks. The next town from Bragen is about an hour and a half away in a regular speed carriage by the way.
As usual, I took my time exploring the sights on the way. I harvested and hunted what I could since I do not know exactly what the living conditions of the next town will be.
Sadly, Bragen City has a few doctors so I did not dare to meddle with the sick in their city though the count told me about a few cases that needed more help. I visited those places and I healed a total of 15 people. That is but a small fraction of the required healed patients needed for my certification though. I am hoping that by chance, the next town would need my help a bit more.
Just like how it took more time to arrived from Hoffen City to Bragen. It took more time for me as well to travel to the next town since there is just so many things to map, harvest and see. The trip that was supposed to be only about one and a half hours long, lasted for a little over two hours.
Though it took me some time, the harvest of alchemy materials and products were amazing. It really proves that the farther certain areas are to living settlements, the richer the resources are since nobody bothers to take them at all. Well, that is a benefit solely for a traveler like me that just passed by those untouched areas.
