Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 416 - A Fruitful Harvest
Chapter 416: Chapter 416 - A Fruitful Harvest
Given that the Rigden village’s clan do not have very strong fighters, the forest nearby was relatively untouched except for the outer areas near the gates. Those outer areas are a bit bare due to the collection of firewood, cutting of tree logs for woodwork and foraging of any edible materials.
I spent the rest of the morning until an hour before sunset just leisurely going around the forest and the brook areas. I harvested a lot of edibles and herbs. I caught some fresh fish and hunted some small game as well. I left some runes to keep the brook clean and safe for drinking as well.
I came back to the village to give the chief a percentage of my gains around the forest for the day which made not only the chief but the villagers happy. The fervent stares of the seven men that visited my house last night grew stronger as well. Men, taking the female roles in this world, would expectedly look for companions that are good providers and I am unluckily under that tagging for sure.
After dinner, I sneakily left the community dining area and went out of the eastern gate again. For my peace of mind, I decided out of the blue to camp out in the forest near the brook tonight. No matter how long they knock at my house, no one would be there to open that door for them.
As I reached the brook, I looked for a hidden area and decided to put my little tent there. I spent some parts of the evening sitting on a huge rock by the brook and soaking my feet in the cool flowing water while just enjoying the beautiful night sky.
When I got bored, I went back to my little tent that looks like a huge villa inside. I continued completing some business paperwork, check for any letters that I received and also started with my report about Rigden Village.
Compared to Ersha, I don’t want to meddle too much on how Rigden wants to manage their resources or any future plans they have. This place is not only a village but a clan bound by blood and marriages. I trust that the current patriarch and matriarch won’t do anything to ruin their own family.
As for the Church of Lumienere, I won’t make a move about them or any of their minions for now as long as they don’t ruin my plans or goals. I am yet to receive responses from the spies of Noir, Void and also from my parents regarding this peculiar organization or well, we can say cult in this situation.
Before I knew it, it was daybreak again. I went out of my tent and did a few stretches while inhaling the fresh scent of the forest. I washed my face by the brook, packed my stuff and went back to the village again.
As I went inside the village, I heard a lot of whispers of the citizens. Their gossips were about me not coming home last night and wondering who I spent the night with at the forest. I looked around me as if wondering what they were talking about then smiled sweetly and said in a plain tone, "As you see, I left alone and came back alone. Gossip is really like a spreading disease in this village, isn’t it?" The face of the main gossiper turned red in shame but I don’t care though.
I went straight to the community dining area for breakfast. When I arrived in the area, I saw a very peculiar scene. In one table, 7 beautiful men were seated. They were the seven who visited me two nights ago. I thought they treated each other as rivals but I guess having the same misfortune related to me has bound them together.
Clarence was the first one to notice my arrival as he abruptly stood up from where he was seated. His face looked gaunt and sullen from lack of sleep. The others also looked at me with lots of grievances. I ignored the heated looks I am getting from all of them and chose a seat away from their peculiar table.
Much to the disappointment of the men in the other table, I finished my breakfast very quickly and then went straight to the chief’s home to give him updates on my work completion. I did not even sit with them and did not even look at them for any longer than a few seconds as if they were all strangers.
Just when I entered the chief’s house, Clarence went inside too, following me closely from behind. I just let him be since it was not my house anyway and if he’s welcome to come and go in it as he pleases then he can do so.
Once inside, the chief hurriedly welcomed me to his living room since he knows that I came here for something important. He only gave a quick look at Clarence then ignored his presence for now.
I sat down and immediately went down to business. I simply reported that the clinic has been completed as they might have seen in the morning. I also reported the improvement of the roads and making sure that the water sources are clean. I also told them that I made a clear path across the forest towards the brook where people can catch some fish if they want to.
The village chief was very thankful, given that some of the improvements I made weren’t a part of their original request and I simply did it as I have found it necessary. I also gave the chief the list of flora and fauna that I have compiled during my trip in the forest. I also made a separate list for medicinal materials and where to find them just for his wife.
After the short meeting, I bid my goodbyes and started walking back to my rented home. Clarence was still followng me closely even up to the point in front of my door. I abruptly stopped walking and turned around. As for the man, he was not able to stop in time and bumped me quite hard. As expected, he was the one who fell down to the ground on his bottom due to the impact.
