Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 428 - Going Undercover
Chapter 428: Chapter 428 - Going Undercover
Since I have gotten all the information I need from the open area, I started following the instructions that the other miners told me about. I looked for a supervisor named Greg which handles the registration of the miners that work daily under Erdene. It took me over 10 minutes to wade through the sea of people to find the man I was looking for.
I fell in line in front of his table patiently and quietly to blend in. A few minutes in to standing in line, one of the miners who has been keeping the lines organized stopped next to me and asked me to come with him. I was guided towards the front of the line and was allowed to skip the lines and sign up. It seems that there is preferential treatment for women, given that we have stronger physiques than men, no matter how tall or muscular they may be.
Since how I looked like right now screamed "newbie" all over, the miner that guided me, let me borrow some mining clothing and equipment. The supervisor told me that I have to keep them in good working condition and they will just deduct the rent for it at the end of day when I get my pay. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
I looked at him then asked directly and loudly, how much the rent which surprised the guy. He must have thought that I was a pushover since I was new and would pay any amount they tell me to at the end of the day.
He coughed to get the awkwardness out of the situation. He had no choice but to respond to me honestly as he murmured, "The rent for the whole set is at 50 copper. You have to pay 200 if we find any damage on them."
I repeated what he said out loud and with a dramatic gasp at the end. I looked around to see the reactions of the other miners. Most of them simply shook their heads in helplessness about this rule that everybody working here has to follow. An old man whispered to me that all newbies, that could not afford their own equipment has to make do until they are more independent. I nodded my head in understanding, thanked the old man and when nobody was looking, I looked down with a cunning smile blossomed on my face.
Now I have an idea how much I should sell or rent stuff for mining when I build my own shop in the near future. I can even put auto-clean, auto-repair and other enhancements to make sure the equipment lasts. Should I also introduce the rent to own scheme for equipment for newbie miners?
Since I am now registered, I picked up good the guide as to which mine I will be assigned at. It turns out, I will be assigned to the gem mine. Now I get why the other miners felt bad about me paying that 50 coppers. Getting gems is based on luck and you can end up with nothing even if you work all day, where will you get the money to pay it then.
Well, I think it doesn’t apply to me though. I have all the skills I need to be a miner. I can even be a gem or precious stone appraiser if need be so this will be a walk in the park. I’ll keep the more precious ones in my storage though (*winks*).
I went straight to the mine and was asked to start digging and mining for gems. The first thing I did though was place the small sack they gave me on one side for whatever I will get today. I then closed my eyes and used my mana to sense the surroundings. I don’t intend to use my stamina with non-profitable tasks.
Once I was able to find the spot where I would get to the nearest gem, I started digging. I used my usual strength since there is no use hiding it in a labor-intensive job anyways. I focused on my work, not minding anybody or any noise around me. I only have to work for 8 hours anyways.
I worked in a very robotic manner. Placing all the not-so-high-graded gems in the sack and automatically placing the valuable one immediately to my storage. I hid the bigger chunks since they are technically my samples and I can divide them to smaller chunks for reselling.
Since this is a diamond mine, I was quite sure that I will be able to find other gem types since they come off of the same mineral anyways. Using my abilities and mana, I got a few chunks of diamond but did not place it in my sack. I also got an assortment of different gems and I made sure to keep ones that signify the eye colors of my husbands since I am planning to make some gifts for them.
I can say that today’s work and haul was very good. I think I might change my mind about working just for a day in each mine. So far, I have found amethysts (available in pale lilac to deep reddish purple shades), garnet (shades of red, orange, yellow, green, purple, brown, blue, black, pink, and even colorless), emerald (different shades of green), sapphire (blue, pink, yellow, green, purple, orange, colorless and color changing), tourmaline (found in every color from pastel to dark), citrine (yellow, gold or orange-brown quarts), aquamarine (different shades of blue) and morganite (soft pink to violet). All of these gems will surely earn me a fortune.
As of the moment, I am compiling another book for these things. I have already made ones for plants and animals. This is the first time I would be making one for gems, minerals and precious stones. I couldn’t help but get excited about making it, just imagining how much I could earn from it.
Sure, there have been books published about it but I plan to make this book one-of-a-kind. It will feature 3D models of the stones themselves, projected through mana for easier identification. This can serve as learning materialslfor would-be miners, gemologists, enchanters, gem appraisers and jewel makers.
