Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 465 - Hide and Seek (Part 1)
Chapter 465: Chapter 465 - Hide and Seek (Part 1)
Upon seeing General Astrantia outside my wagon, I froze and my smile gradually changed from a happy one to a perfunctory one. I gave him a firm nod as a greeting then continued walking. I simply passed by the place where he was standing, my face not showing my annoyance of the situation.
I honestly don’t understand why he is doing all these uncomfortable things. The face I used when I visited the entertainment district and the face I am using now as an envoy are not the same, not even similar in any way. Is he perhaps the player type that just chases after women he finds interesting? Or is he perhaps the the rare ones that can see through a beings unique aura or soul so my illusions don’t work on him?
As I walked away, I kept my senses heightened as I observed what his next moce would be. As I checked, he actually stayed where he was standing even after I have walked past him and is now several meters away but eventually, he started walking to the direction where I went. I pretended not to notice that he was following me and just went straight inside the kitchen area of the dining hall. I chose a hidden corner in the kitchen as my work area so that nobody from the outside won’t see me.
Meal preparation was a breeze and within an hour, we are already serving breakfast to all the soldiers in the camp. Since I still have some time, I started preparing the ingredients for the menu for lunch today in advance so I do not have to run over to this place later.
As the soldiers are starting to pour inside the dining hall, I went out of the backdoor and made my way to the military hospital. As per my daily work agenda, I will be checking the health of the soldiers confined in the regular wards one by one. I have already checked on the severely injured ones earlier so I can move to the milder cases this time.
As I entered the regular ward area, I looked around a bit more as I was not able to do so on my first visit. I counted the number of mildly injured people confined here and there are surely more than 50 patients here as my eyes darted around the area. As for the medical personnel, there were a measly six which includes two alchemists, three nurses and one medic. Surely, the patient to medical personnel ratio is not good.
I understand that increasing the number of people working in the military hospital is not easy because the jobs require one to have proper training. Another factor is that most trained medical professional won’t consider working in a military camp as a first choice.
I volunteered to help out in this place so I might as well do more work to make up for the place being understaffed. It would be challenging and tiring but I don’t mind it one bit.
After spending a couple of hours in the military hospital, I went to the alchemy laboratory. I saw the two alchemist making potions and pills. They let me observe their work closely while I also ask questions about the medicine that are most needed in these parts.
What I noticed is that the military hospital does not have a kitchen to make meals for the staff and medical food for the patients. Everybody had to wait for the food to be delivered from the dining hall each time. I simply think that this fact is absurd and would definitely work on this on my own. This was discussed during the meeting but nobody seemed to be bothered about it.
As I was working, I felt the presence of my ever persistent stalker. He is currently waiting by the regular ward area for me to exit the hospital. I couldn’t help but click my tongue in annoyance. Is he planning to do this every single day like he doesn’t have anything else better to do?
Since I already know that he is in the main entrance, I used the backdoor again to leave the hospital. Surprisingly, there were soldiers guarding the backdoor as well and I saw how there faces showed surprise for a few seconds before they became emotionless again as if guarding the door was normal.
Just so you know, the backdoor and entrance of the dining hall had no guards. The entrance of the hospital had no guards as well so why would there be guard so suddenly at the backdoor?
They are obviously placed there to look out for anyone that would use that exit. Someone seems to be using their authority inappropriately, don’t you think?
I immediately passed by the guards without greeting them and walked quickly between tents until they couldn’t see me. Once I am out of their sight, I teleported near the camp entrance where the construction to fortify the walls have started. I will allot today to help out on this since the quicker this wall is finished, the quicker we can move on to building the barracks.
As expected, not even 10 minutes have passed and a certain general has appeared volunteering to help out on the construction by the wall since he has nothing to do. How suprising.
I ignored that he was working nearby and seemingly not focusing on his task. He is staring at me uncomfortably again like how he did at the meeting. He isn’t even bothered that many people can see this rude behavior of his. He maybe not care about his reputation but as a person that just arrived here, I do mind about mine a lot.
I continued working and opted to choose a wall that is farthest from where he was working. I noticed that he was trying to move closer to me in the guise of working diligently. When he was only a few meters away from where I was, I quickly approached the construction manager then asked a question in a very low voice as to when the construction of the barracks will start and he said that it will be by tomorrow once the tents on the chosen construction area has been moved and cleared out.
