"Are you sure about this, young master? I don’t think they will let us meet master Lucien right now…"

They both were in the corridors, walking down the straight path briskly.

"The only way we will get to the conclusion quickly is by talking with my brother. That’s the only thing I want to focus on for now." Theo said persistently, and Clara sighed.

They walked for a few minutes and reached a wide staircase. Theo didn’t know where the way was, but Clara did. He kept following her upstairs, and after another few minutes of walking, they finally reached what looked like Lucien’s room.

Theo and Clara stopped when they saw so many guards beside Lucien’s room. It was as if they were guarding it.

But the situation was the inverse.

"Young master, as expected, master Lucien is on room arrest. It seems Head Butler Alfred didn’t have the power to place an heir in prison."

Theo nodded. The guards took a look at them and nodded before they moved their gazes to the front again.

Theo stepped forward, and Clara could only sigh. It seems they were still going to see the plan through.

"Please halt, young master Theo." One guard with a hound of his own spoke with seriousness, making Theo stop.

Every guard was wearing blackish-red clothing. It was the clothing the tamer guards of the Merrick Barony always wore.

"I would like to meet with my big brother right now. Please make way," Theo spoke in a surprisingly authoritative tone.

The guard looked at him for a few seconds before he spoke again, "My apologies, young master Theo, but master Lucien is on room arrest right now. It is not allowed to meet him."

Theo frowned. Even after he had persisted, the guard didn’t budge, and it felt like he was even willing to take action against Theo if he took a step forward.

"What can I do to meet him, then?" Theo asked with a sigh.

"Only after Head Butler Alfred gives you permission can we let you in."

Theo nodded and stepped toward Clara. "Clara, do you know where old man Alfred is right now?"

"… I think I may have an idea, young master."

"Good, I will wait for you here. Go and get me the permission, please." Theo spoke and noticed the chair and table kept as an ornament in the corridor.

He sat on it regally with a noble posture and waited for Clara to leave.

Clara shook her head and sighed but went to get the permission anyway.

The guard that had talked with him looked at Theo for a few seconds before his gaze went to the front again. The guard duty was strict.

In the next ten minutes, Theo sat there with nothing to do but be with his own thoughts.

He realized how he didn’t have closure for the near-death event he went through. Theo didn’t have a clue how he was supposed to feel after that, yet even now, it felt as if his mind was empty.

The guard looked toward him another time, and Theo sighed. It was the fifth time now.

"Would you like to say something to me?" He asked with a noble smile.

The guard’s eyes widened, but he became normal soon enough, his gaze still on Theo.

"Congratulations for reaching level 3, young master Theo." He said with a smile.

It was Theo’s turn to be surprised now. He didn’t expect him to congratulate. In his eyes, he was one other pompous person trying to take his role too seriously.

"Thank you," Theo responded with a smile.

The guard nodded with respect and went back to staring in the front again, leaving Theo with his thoughts.

It was after the question that Theo remembered again that he had really become a level 3 human, there were some changes in his body that he felt but did not know how to explain.

After a few minutes, he heard some footsteps, and Theo looked toward the left with a smile.

Both the head butler and Clara were walking together. Theo saw both bow toward him at the same time, which made him chuckle.

"Guards, let the young master through." The head butler said once while he approached, and the guards tapped their feet and moved to the side.

Theo sighed in relief. He really got an audience with his brother finally.

"You didn’t have to come all this way, old man Alfred. Just a permission would have sufficed."

"I can’t do that, young master Theo." The head butler said once before he went past Theo and opened the gate with a key.

Theo quickly got off and briskly walked toward the opening of the room, where he bobbed his head to peek inside first.

The room was large and had a somewhat same vibe as his own room. There was Lucien, sitting on the lavish chair, looking at him with a mild smile.

"I thought our next meeting would be with tea, Theo." He spoke, and it was then that Theo got inside the room.

The head butler stepped inside too, and Clara just followed Theo.

Theo didn’t speak anything yet. When he got close enough, he stopped. There was seriousness on his face, and Lucien sighed.

"Well, I guess we all know why you are here." He said with an awkward chuckle before continuing straight to the point, "Believe me, the last thing I want is to hurt you, little brother. But there are no excuses for what I unintentionally or intentionally did. It cannot change the fact that you were going to get hurt because of it." he stated as if he was expecting that Theo would be on the same page from the start, which made sense.

Theo kept looking at him when he spoke. He tried not to change his expressions a lot.

"… I had a feeling you wouldn’t do it intentionally, Big Brother. And because of Clara, my attendant, I did not get a single scratch on my body." Theo spoke, yet Lucien’s eyes went to his patched-up hands.

Clara sighed, and Theo understood. He had gone overboard with a little too much training yesterday.

"But it does not change the fact that Clara was inches away from dying, Big Brother. That is not acceptable." A frown followed on Theo’s face.

Lucien looked at him with an understanding face, and Theo wanted that. He wanted others to know that his attendant was not just an attendant; she was like a sister to him.

"Believe me, little brother. I feel the same way about my attendant. We grew up together and became strong together. So, I understand. And I am ready to face any punishment for this mistake too."
