Confronting thousands of charging cavalrymen was a truly terrifying prospect. Even the Lord of Slaughter’s surviving commanders despaired at the situation.
The War Priest required a long channeling time to summon his army, but if he succeeded, he could easily crush any enemy. The only one who could potentially be able to escape from his army was the Lord of Slaughter. The others wouldn’t stand a chance.
The Monster Lord felt chills. The War Priest is too powerful once he unleashes his full prowess. I must never let him summon his army if I ever fight with him in the future.
By the time the cavalrymen charged over, however, Zu An had already regained his mobility. He brought out his Human Emperor Seal. The golden seal revolved as it floated into the air, and then suddenly enlarged until it was the size of a mountain and crashed down on the cavalrymen.
Boom!
A loud explosion ensued. The cavalrymen at the forefront were crushed into mincemeat.
“Human aura?” The Monster Lord frowned. He sensed emperor ki from the seal, and it made him wonder if the humans of this world had a Human Emperor or something.
However, he quickly rejected that guess. The emperor ki was weak, which showed that its connection with the humans of this world was faint. It hadn’t received the recognition of the humans. Nevertheless, it still showed that this mysterious man had connections with the human race.
“Don’t worry, his seal doesn’t contain enough faith. Its prowess is lacking,” the Monster Lord said upon seeing the War Priest lurching in shock.
The War Priest snapped out of his shock and chuckled. “I was wondering why that thing felt off. Turns out it only looks formidable on the surface.”
He waved a flag, and the formation masters in his army unleashed their skills on the massive Human Emperor Seal. A black aura enveloped the Human Emperor Seal, and the ground under it turned into a black bog. It was as if the area had turned into a marsh. The Human Emperor Seal began sinking into it.
Zu An sighed. The Human Emperor Seal lacks legitimacy here, so it’s unable to unleash its true prowess.
The corruption of the Human Emperor Seal was eroding his connection with it, so he quickly took it back without any hesitation.
The War Priest lamented Zu An’s swift reaction. Just a bit more, and I could have erased the seal’s divine sense imprint and taken it for myself. He could tell that the seal was growing, and once it matured, it could potentially exert prowess comparable to a deity-grade artifact.
At this point, he decided to stop holding back. He waved his flag once more, and his army encircled Zu An. Even though his vanguard had suffered heavy losses due to the bizarre seal, he could easily conjure more soldiers as long as his army formation wasn’t breached. Even ants could devour an elephant in sufficient quantity, let alone his strong soldiers.
Seeing Zu An in a predicament, the Lord of Slaughter advised him, “You have to defeat the War Priest himself, or else he can resummon his army.”
He couldn’t let his powerful helper die just like that. Unfortunately, he was severely injured by the Warped Devil and the Lord of Myriad Transformations, and the Monster Lord was keeping a close eye on him now. He couldn’t intervene in Zu An’s battle.
Hearing his father’s concern for that fellow, Salamay’s eyes drooped. Father doesn’t know how powerful he is. He’s strong enough to slay the Monster Lord, so how could the War Priest stand in his way?
In the entire hall, it was probably her who had the most confidence in Zu An. The only worry was that this world didn’t have world laws that imposed restrictions on intruders, so the Monster Lord and his subordinates were far stronger than they were in the future. This could lead to variables.
In the center of attention, Zu An calmly faced the army charging toward him. With a flick of his hand, a turbid yellow water droplet appeared on his palm. There was a hint of blood red hidden in the droplet.
“Go!”
With a wave of Zu An’s hand, the Oblivion River Water flew out and quickly expanded into a stream, then a river, and finally a massive tsunami.
The charging army didn’t have time to dodge, although it wasn't as if they planned to. Why would they dodge when they were strong enough to disperse even a rapid river?
Only the War Priest felt uneasy. Looking at the turbid yellow water tinged with bloody red, he was suddenly reminded of the water from the legends. He anxiously waved his flag to order his army to avoid the tsunami, but it was already too late.
The Oblivion River Water washed through the hall, devouring the War Priest’s army. Some of his soldiers weren’t afraid of the tsunami at first because they were adept in water skills. However, when they came into contact with the Oblivion River Water, their bodies jolted and they forgot all their skills. Their memories had faded into oblivion.
The War Priest’s army was devastated.
Some of the Lord of Slaughter’s commanders and the Monster Lord’s subordinates failed to dodge in time and were touched by the Oblivion River Water, causing them to lose their wits and become floating corpses.
“It’s the Oblivion River!” The Monster Lord recognized the origin of the water. Even with his strength, he had no choice but to dodge the tsunami.
The Monster Generals fled in a fluster, having heard about the Oblivion River Water’s legend.
Salamay and Mojard seized the opening to cover the Lord of Slaughter and escort him to Zu An’s side.
The Monster Lord’s face darkened. The only silver lining was that he had sealed off the entrance, so the Lord of Slaughter wouldn’t be able to escape just yet. However, if the Oblivion River continued rampaging, more variables could emerge.
Thus, the Monster Lord tossed a copper coin toward the raging Oblivion River Water. It was none other than the Treasure Sinking Coin.
Zu An had been curious to know what would happen if he took out the Treasure Sinking Coin before the Monster Lord, but out of consideration for the future, he decided against it.
However, the Monster Lord seemed to be lacking understanding of the Treasure Sinking Coin. This artifact could only nullify created artifacts; it was completely useless against intrinsic items. The Oblivion River Water was an intrinsic item.
Zu An suddenly recalled Mi Li’s talk about spacetime. This was a good opportunity, so he pretended that the Treasure Sinking Coin had worked on the Oblivion River Water and severed his connection with it. Without his control, the rampaging Oblivion River Water reverted to its initial droplet, and by some stroke of fate, it landed in the War Priest’s vicinity.
Without any hesitation, the War Priest rolled up his sleeves and stowed away the droplet. He nearly burst into laughter, gladdened by the windfall. This mysterious fellow must have beaten me to that dangerous dungeon, but his gains only ended up benefiting me.
The other Monster Generals looked at the War Priest in envy. They had suffered heavy losses, whereas the War Priest had gained something valuable instead.
Even the Monster Lord looked at the War Priest with envious eyes. He was interested in the Oblivion River Water, and he hadn’t expected it to fall into the War Priest’s hands. It was a pity he still needed the Monster Generals, so he couldn’t snatch it in public, lest he lose their support.
Salamay scoffed at Zu An. How can he be this careless as to lose such a valuable treasure?
The Lord of Slaughter consoled Zu An, saying, “Don’t worry, my friend. As long as you escort me to safety, I’ll find an even more formidable artifact for you in the future.”
Zu An smiled. He had done all that merely to ‘return the item to its master’. Only by entrusting the Oblivion River Water to the War Priest now could he snatch it away from the War Priest in the future. Through this, he was closing the spacetime loop.
“Let’s get him now that he doesn’t have the Oblivion River Water anymore. We mustn’t give them any chance to make a comeback!” the Monster Lord roared as he charged at the Lord of Slaughter.
The other Monster Generals charged at Zu An, hoping to get something on par with the Oblivion River Water from him.
