Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 227: Lingering Conflicts
Mira had no choice but to run away and hide. She found herself inside one of the free houses she could find.
Considering the door was just opened and no one had gone back, she knew that the owners had either died from the zombie mob or were gravely injured and being treated in the medbay.
Mira didn’t care too much and just looked for the more isolated spot, entering a random cabinet in the end, and closing it as fast as she could..
She settled down in her pants drenched in pee, but she didn’t feel it anymore considering everything else going on in her body.
Hidden in a stuffy place like inside an old cabinet though, made her feel the pain even more closely.
She was itchy as hell and was in excruciating pain—no adjectives could describe it anymore. She also felt like a monster— and she was going insane that it literally felt like her brain was melting!
She couldn’t handle anymore of this!
But she didn’t dare get out, afraid someone would point Claire in her direction. Besides, with the limited brain capacity she had left, she still understood Claire wouldn’t be able to fix her at all!
She couldn’t even keep a water ball in place!
So… that meant it could only be Khalifa!
But how to get her to do it?!
How? How could she get rid of this pain?!
She thought long and hard about her approach, but there was nothing that didn’t involve her getting hurt! Besides, let alone Khalifa herself, if she annoyed that woman, five men would probably jump at the chance to kill her!
However, the longer she just stayed the more her little remaining sanity got snipped. It got to the point that she was tempted to cut her own appendages.
She thought that the pain of amputation couldn’t be worse than this!
Maybe, because there was less body part, she’d actually be in less pain!
The partially-insane Mira crawled out the cabinet then, moving on all fours on the floor, afraid someone would see her from the windows.
Sadly, every potential weapon had already been taken, where could she find a knife lying around?
Her muddled brain thought and thought, her eyes ended up on the door. She shakily opened it just a bit, just wide enough to slither her arms out.
Then, abruptly, she closed the door on herself.
"AHHH!" She yelled as the door squeezed her, but then she would feel the pain in the rest of her body again and her hand moved on its own to—bang! —squeeze her arms again.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
She repeated this over and over. Even if it didn’t detach, the extra pain would distract her from the rest of the pain, making it worth it!
BANG! BANG! BANG—
Her morbid movements stopped when she heard people passing by, mentioning her most hated name.
"Did you hear? Miss Khalifa and the rest of them are leaving!"
"No! I’m so sad! I haven’t thanked her yet!"
"Let’s go see them off!" another said, "Who knows when we’re going to see them again!"
Her pain-filled brain snapped, then.

Khalifa and the others stood at a ground helipad with a few working machines already starting. Apparently, the helicopters were repaired during the clean up and they were ready to go.
Anyway, the group was already about to board when a certain insane woman appeared in their area, yelling for Khalifa to help her.

Everyone gasped at the disgusting sight, moving away, afraid to be a meter away from her.
Mira, though, was too preoccupied to notice, otherwise, her eyes would turn even redder and maybe she’d throw pus just out of spite.
"Help me, Khalifa! This is your doing anyway! Please fix it!" She yelled. "Please! Save me! I can’t take it anymore!!"
She said it in a way that was telling everyone she caused her state.
It had to be said: Even if Mira was already half-insane, her green tea attributes still worked.
Sadly for her, everyone already knew her true colors so no one was convinced enough to help her out.
"Khalifa! Fix this! It’s gotten worse—" She made sure to make a scene. In her mind, maybe Khalifa would be too embarrassed not to help her.
Khalifa shook her head. "I told you there’s no use once you scratch it," she said. "I wasn’t the one who couldn’t handle a few scars for a few weeks.
"Don’t worry, scars like that won’t kill you."
"What?! NO!"
"There’s really no way to fix it anymore."
Khalifa looked at her, that blank expression on her face. It felt like the blue eyes that fascinated all men were tracing over her ugly scars, looking at her like a maggot.
"You’ll live with it for the rest of your life."

Mira had to watch Khalifa walk away from her useless, hopeless, and ugly self, heading towards the helicopters already running.
Mira watched bitterly as Khalifa was greeted back by her men, patting her head, holding her hand, giving her sweet comforting pecks when she was the one causing her to suffer!
Kylo naturally had to stay behind and they lingered a bit longer. "I’ll come see you soon," he said, giving her several pecks, and burning other people’s eyes.
The other men naturally couldn’t let them linger for too long and she was pulled back by the professor, and then kissed on the cheek by Kaize.
They were also escorted by many people, looking at them with such reverence and awe.
They were hailed as heroes, after all, especially Khalifa who some people had begun to call ’Queen’.
Meanwhile she—the supposed heroine who was brought back in time to improve her life—could only suffer this pain and discomfort and ugliness for the rest of her life?
Mira was not reconciled!
At this point, the single iota of reason she had left had completely disintegrated.
"STOP!" She yelled, causing much of the crowd to look at her. "Stop acting all high and mighty!"
Mira’s red eyes glared at Khalifa, just before pointing at Jacob.
"Not when you’re keeping a ZOMBIE so close to you!"
