Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 230: Hugo’s Weapon Factory
In the next leg of the tour, they were taken to the weapons factory, which was really large. From Hugo’s words, it actually occupied a good portion of the base.
It was as big as a large gym, bustling with activity, and with several guards armed to the teeth.
There were also dozens of workers clad in protective gear scurrying about, tending to the various stages of the weaponry production.
The group walked around the side in interest, making sure they didn’t make too much noise lest the workers would get distracted.
They watched as the row of workers put molten metal into molds.
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
They also noticed that there were already machines to help with the precision cutting, producing firearms and explosives.
It explained how Hugo had managed to do a few guns even when he was gone only for a bit. With this line-up, Hugo should be able to arm several bases within a few months.
"This is the first stage where raw materials are melted down and purified," he then pointed at an area with various vats. "See those vats? They are filled with a mix of rare metals and compounds essential for creating the cores."
"We need to secure more raw materials, of course, but I already made deals with Kylo and General Lee regarding that before."
"I also have a team studying the crystals to see if we could use those as a power source."
This made the others look at him, impressed. He couldn’t help but kiss Khalifa’s forehead, feeling smug. "I’m not Hugo if I’m not versatile. We naturally want to adjust according to the current situations."
Khalifa and the others nodded. This made them feel really hopeful for the long protracted battle ahead of humans.
Next, the group headed to the farms, which also composed a good portion of the base. It was also as big as the weapon’s factory, though it was filled with massive vertical farms.
The group was impressed with the thriving crops. Obviously, they bought already grown plants and just transferred, and they were relieved to see them growing well.
"We have all kinds of plants commonly consumed by modern humans," Hugo said with a smile. "Basically, we made sure to have a variety of plants that could meet the nutrition requirements of thousands of people."
"What about meat?" Kaize asked, earning an arrogant stare from the tanned man.
"Of course, we have meat," he said, bringing them to the adjacent modules.
As for the meat, they had a livestock section as well. There were different enclosures and also a big open space for the livestock to graze and be healthy (before their deaths).
All of these looked very very expensive to implement with the time frame that he had. It showed Hugo’s—and his family’s—wealth.
"Business has been great, I see," Kaize said, giving the friend with questionable origins a look.
Hugo shrugged before turning to Khalifa, pulling her hand so her face would land on his sculpted chest—which, by the way, already had opened buttons.
"Anyway, that’s it for the resources," Hugo said, rubbing Khalifa’s waist as he embraced her—making the other men really want to poke his hands. "Now… for the luxuries~"
For the final part of the tour, they headed to the amenity areas limited to the higher ups.
It wasn’t too big, but it fit the game rooms, libraries, and the like. There was a woman on the side reading, with an old woman knitting a scarf or something.
"I call this: Khalifa’s Haven!"
He then turned to look at Khalifa, who was staring at the room in interest. He grinned widely—expression very seductive.
"How is it? Isn’t it nice? Don’t you want to stay?"
"HUGO!" the other men glared at him, while Khalifa chuckled.
The exclamation caught the attention of the two women in their own world, and they brightened at the sight of Hugo.
These were Hugo’s only relatives left—his grandmother and aunt.
Due to their line of work, the men of the family… had relatively short lives. Even if they lived, their bodies had too many complications to live a long life.
In Hugo’s time, they had already cleaned up their acts and even supplied governments in exchange for protection, but they still didn’t get past their 50s.
"This is my Grandma Loo, just call her grandma, and my Auntie Tina, just call her aunt."
The two women smiled at him before looking at the beautiful girl Hugo was holding. "This must be Khalifa."
"My, she’s gorgeous," Grandma added, before she stared at the men behind, raising an eyebrow.
She then looked at her own grandson up and down, "No wonder you’re threatened."
Auntie chuckled, "Nephew is charming and strong, I think he’s still the best."
"Thank you, auntie."
The other men: "..."
Hugo then proceeded to introduce the other men to the ladies as well. He was very half-hearted about it, too.
"This is Kaize, an old friend, he sings for money. The one beside him is Cauis. He’s a professor, but he sleeps with his students.
"That young tanned-but-pale guy is Jacob. He can’t talk much due to the teenage croaking of his voice.
"The abnormally-colored one is a scientist. Don’t talk to him, you’ll get aneurysm."
The men: "..."
Khalifa laughed.
Hugo also introduced the other guests—Claire and Chris, who just always seemed to be lovely and in place.
Kaize had enough of this ’family meeting’ and walked over. He knew Khalifa was soft on kind women—look at Claire—he didn’t want to risk her getting seduced to stay!
He smiled charmingly as he approached the women. "Nice to meet you, ladies," he said with a handsome smile. "However, it’s time for us to go back home."
Before he could hold Khalifa’s hand though, she was pulled right into Hugo’s copper-colored chest. "No, you need to refuel."
Kaize rolled his eyes. "Our fuel is just enough to get to the island."
"Don’t you wanna get more weapons?" Hugo added, "If you wait a night, I can send you a few boxes."
Kaize’s eyes twitched and he looked at the other men, and then to Khalifa who was watching them with amused eyes.
Khalifa was obviously not against staying the night.
They sighed. From there, they knew what was going to happen.
"Fine," Kaize said, tutting, and this made Hugo laugh, lifting Khalifa up in his glee.
"I will have you all to myself tonight!"
