It was, surprisingly, led by a familiar doctor. She knew this person as the doctor who treated her back then.

Behind her were a few men, three of which had especially dignified air about them. Looking at their uniform—which were surprisingly proper after so long in the apocalypse—indicated their ranks.

Generals. Three of them.

The doctor didn’t seem to be intimidated by the men that were following her, simply going straight to Khalifa’s direction.

She stopped about two meters away, just the right professional distance. "Miss Fei, nice to see you again," she said, before turning in another direction.

"Doctor Zed, you’re here too," the female doctor said. She was in her mid-thirties and actually a bit pretty. She looked admiringly at Sigmund who didn’t bat an eye at her.

She seemed used to it and kept her smile, before turning to several soldiers with strong auras behind her.

They were all new faces to Khalifa and the others though and General Lee cleared his throat to introduce them. "This is General Dino, General Yon, and General Freud." He also introduced a few majors.

"They came from fallen bases down South, which has another military stronghold. They arrived here a few days ago.

"General Dino awakened fire ability and General Freud had earth. There’s also about five other members who had also awakened."

The general looked a bit awkward at this, which was understandable.

With several generals in one place naturally meant a bit of tension on who would hold power. It was unavoidable in this world of men—people with a quest for power—especially when there wasn’t a stark difference in forces.

In the capitol base, Kylo had already shown great prowess. He also had personal connections with two bases (hers and Hugo’s) so he wouldn’t be touched so easily.

Unlike Kylo, Ryo was still training his abilities while Lee hadn’t even awakened yet—assuming he ever would.

The especially difficult part was that two of three of the generals awakened.

She wondered if they had become a problem in the ’books’. However, she would never ever know that, in fact, because these particular people didn’t actually pose a threat back then.

Why? Because they were dead.

This party wouldn’t have made it so far had Ryo and the others not cleared the area to the hospital back then.

But no one knew of this particular butterfly effect, and that made these men arrogant with virtue of their powers.

General Lee was frowning as he looked at them. He didn’t think so many of them would go here just to see the party off, especially since most of them weren’t here when Khalifa and her team saved the base.

The helicopter was set to start soon, but Cauis stopped it seeing there were more guests. It would be hard to hear each other with the engine on.

Later though, he wished he had. Maybe even throw a few to the rotating blades.

"Are you here to see them off?" General Lee asked and the general’s pretty much ignored him. The arrogant general decided to go straight to the point, instead.

"I think she should stay for further study here," the General Dino said, pointing at Khalifa.

This made everyone on their side look at him guardedly.

General Dino looked at the female doctor, who nodded and began to explain their side.

The doctor had always been curious about Khalifa’s physique, and she went against her professional vows and gave a copy to Hilten when he asked for it, thinking he could lobby for the woman to stay and be studied.

Obviously, that didn’t work out, but the arrival of a new battalion and general made her have ideas again. Even better was that the tanned man who threatened her wasn’t there, as well as Kylo, so she thought the chances of ’convincing’ them would be easier.

She took out a few pieces of paper, showing it off to the crowd, before handing it to General Lee and Ryo.

It was Khalifa’s blood report.

"Miss Khalifa here has a very unique physique that may be helpful for the survival of the human race."

This caught everyone’s attention, and various people from the crowd started whispering amongst each other.

"We have tested her blood… and it slowed down the virus. We mused that if we had enough, we could determine a way to do more."

He also looked at Sigmund, hoping to get his cooperation. "Maybe we can even find the cure."

Sigmund looked at her, red eyes blank—and no one knew what he could be thinking.

The other men immediately guarded Khalifa, and Ryo and General Lee—while surprised and even a little tempted—did the same.

"You’re dreaming," Ryo said, and General Lee nodded.

"Miss Khalifa is free to do what she wants. If she wants to leave now, we will not stop her."

This made the other group flinch and the doctor a little impatient.

"She can heal! She should stay! She—" she looked around. "She’s the key to beating this virus! The Key to get to our normal lives without these monsters!"

The crowd who came curiously also whispered with various expressions on their faces.

They wanted to pressure them for sure. And it worked. And a few people from the crowd—some of which probably planted there—sent out pleas.

"Please! Miss Khalifa!"

"Please!"

"Please lend us some of your blood! It’s to save lives!"

More and more people sounded, most of whom carried by the passion that surrounded them.

If they weren’t afraid of Jacob and the others, it was estimated that they’d be mobbing her.

The doctor and the other general smirked at the effect, turning to Khalifa with a triumphant expression on their faces.

"As you can see, people really need your help. We will take non-lethal—-"

Before they could say anything more though, massive ice crystals found their way threateningly near their necks.

Everyone looked at Naia, who was smiling beautifully but there was something menacing that made them shiver for their lives.

"What were you trying to say again?" she asked, her voice velvety but also very—very—threatening.

And It gave all the men a hard on.
