While the women were chattering, the men were being shown to areas to show off (at least areas that could be known in public).

They were with Khalifa’s men, and they had long entered some sort of strange sausage contest.

"Khalifa is most comfortable here," Kaize said, as he showed them the gazebos, gardens, and the like. While it was not as sprawling as pre-apocalypse hotels, it was a luxury only a handful would be able to enjoy.

Every one of the guests were in awe.

Kaize smiled at their reactions. "It’s such a beautiful place with complete facilities. It’s also far from all that zombie stench."

He said this to Kylo, who owned the capitol base and was near where much of the excitement was. Even if they always cleared the surrounding areas, there was a natural phenomenon called ’wind’, after all!

Sometimes some random wind would blow carrying the horrible stench of corpses from miles away!

Although people got used to the smell, it was still disgusting.

Kylo’s face didn’t change but anyone who knew him would see he was a bit annoyed. But Kaize was known to always push his luck and just smiled at him.

With a smug smile, he turned to his tanned friend. "Do you see that view?" he said, pointing at the ocean, "Who wants to be inside a mountain when the sky is perfectly clear?"

He was clearly taking a jab at Hugo, who was crossing his arms and staring at him with narrowed eyes.

They continued with the tours and headed towards the livestock area. As they approached, they heard the various noises of the animals as well as the light smell associated with farms.

There were two people at a time tending for the large herds and groups at this time, and they greeted Cauis and Kaize respectfully.

"This is the livestock area where we keep our poultry, beef, and pork sources," Cauis introduced, pointing at the open space in front of them.

The animals lived in the forest area, enclosed only by tall fences but otherwise lived free range.

The place was really large, definitely much more than what a small island or the port base (even if it expanded) needed.

From here, it was obvious they were preparing to supply a much bigger area.

Kaize watched as the guests looked on in awe. "The meat here is healthier, because they live happier. Free range is the best!"

The guests could only agree, hoping they would get their required stocks!

"What about utilities?" Liam couldn’t help but ask. He had seen the wind turbine, yes, but the energy the defense system required was not small.

"Don’t worry about that. We also use hydroelectric systems on top of our wind turbines," Kaize said, looking at the others. "Basically, we have uninterrupted supplies for the basic utilities. We won’t ever get a blackout!"

Even Kylo’s didn’t have a stable source of electricity yet, while Hugo’s half-consumed fuel.

Needless to say, everyone was impressed. Kaize though didn’t forget to hint the place’s superior defense so they better not get any ideas.

Hearing the island’s defense systems, Hugo couldn’t help but butt in. "I brought lots of weapons. I’ll even upgrade everything when I get back with more tools.

"This is in exchange for your supplies, of course," he said, and Cauis nodded, signaling the start of the barter trade—something every visitor was looking forward to.

Kylo and his team bought a lot of supplies, especially livestock and seeds. They didn’t haggle at all, with Kylo even wanting to give some bonuses but he didn’t because it was the base’s money, not his.

Hugo’s team also bought a few livestock and seeds that they didn’t have.

The trading lasted about an hour, which wasn’t long because each base had a clear idea of what they needed the most.

"Be careful on your trip home," Kaize said after the deals, making Hugo roll his eyes.

The ’locals’ knew from the conversations that the visitors couldn’t afford to stay for long, which was such a relief!

Only three men sharing Khalifa had been so good compared to when these two were added in the mix!

Unfortunately, their hopes were quickly dashed by Hugo, who gave them derisive sneers.

"We’re staying the night here, idiot."

"Same with us." Kylo said and all of a sudden the atmosphere stagnated even more.

Dinner was really nice and the guests ate fresh food. Kaize made sure to hire a few good chefs here. With their families safely on the island, these chefs served the team with full hearts.

And it was obvious with the food they ate every day.

"This is so delicious!" Abu mumbled, eating his heart out. Liam even sniffed.

"How long has it been since I’ve last had a warm meal?"

"Hadn’t had a full meal for so long!"

Safe to say, they had plenty of compliments to the chefs.

Dinner was peaceful, but the hour before bedtime was very different.

When night came, the men were very seriously considering duking it out.

Kylo and Hugo couldn’t stay for long as they had their own bases and various responsibilities. Naturally, now that they were here, they wanted to solo Khalifa.

The first point of conflict was between these two.

However, it was Kaize’s and Cauis’ turn that night, and they didn’t want to adjust either.

So now there were four people being stubborn.

"Why don’t we all just do it?"

"I am included," Jacob said. By this time, he can speak long sentences without his voice cracking like a tween.

"No!"

"Khalifa doesn’t even want 4P, let alone 6P!"

Jacob sighed in regret, though it’d be his turn tomorrow so he decided to just go to the ports today and clear it out.

Seeing as one had given up, the rest of the men looked at each other in apprehension.

They were half-considering to fight, but they also knew Khalifa wouldn’t like that. If she found out, maybe none of them would get a taste!

In the end, a compromise was made.

5P.

Upon making this decision, the men looked at each other with worried faces.

"So… how do we break it to her?"
