The next few days were peaceful and, after some time, Hugo and Kylo returned—for good, apparently—to the chagrin of the ’locals’.

However, disregarding the shorter sexy time for each man, the two had very good news that injected energy to the whole island.

For one, Hugo was there to set up the radio tower!

Although Khalifa knew comms would be gone when the apocalypse came, she believed it’d recover eventually. This was why Khalifa and Cauis got a small radio tower built back then, even if they knew it’d stop working at some point. They had a budget for it anyway.

Fortunately, they did this, so it only took a day for it to be set up. With this, they would be able to communicate with the other three territories with ease!

"Amazing!" Khalifa said, kissing Hugo’s cheek. It wasn’t enough of course, and Hugo wrapped his strong arms around her waist to pull her for a passionate kiss.

If the other men weren’t there, it was estimated he’d be doing a lot more.

"I have news as well," Kylo said, making Khalifa—who was still flushed from Hugo’s intense kiss—to look at him with some expectations.

He did not disappoint.

Kylo’s side had actually managed to connect to an unmanned satellite!

He showed her some photos that they retrieved from it, making Khalifa smile. It was a photo of the capitol, specifically of the lab they had been to.

It captured the zombies and some familiar landscape (or destruction of such) so they knew that the satellite image was relatively updated.

The image wasn’t as detailed as the more modern satellites could give, but it was good enough.

"The quality isn’t as great as we are used to, but an eye in the sky is an eye in the sky,"

The meaning of this to humanity was large!

"That’s so great, Kylo!" She said, wrapping her arms around him to give him a peck. Kylo turned and angled his head so their lips would meet, and Khalifa once again drowned in a passionate play of tongues.

Anyway, while these two upgrades still had a lot of limitations and things to fix, at least this way, Kylo and Hugo would feel more at ease leaving their own bases. They would still visit once a week or two, of course, but this meant they could stay on the island for the most part—which was something they had been working towards the past few weeks.

The two men also set up a particular place in the island where both technology could be accessed and controlled, located in the administrative building in the inner circle.

It happened to still have plenty of room and they set up the comms center there. Following the set-up, they each assigned their own trusted men to the job.

These two men were incredibly happy in their assignment. When they were chosen, they were just a bit worried about their lifestyles.

At least their current bases had food and water, unlike most, and they thought they’d be assigned to a poverty-stricken place because it was an ’island’.

Then they saw the island and the ample resources and they almost kneeled to worship their respective gods for their blessings.

Anyway, after the set-up, the group excitedly decided to test them out. No one in the inner circle missed it, knowing it was a milestone in the post-apocalyptic era.

First, the satellite images showed in the television sets. Khalifa didn’t buy that many and they only had a few excess, but it was enough for their purpose.

Here, they would see relatively updated images of the areas above the three bases, with another screen going around and focusing on the surrounding areas.

Next was the radio tower testing. It was less technical, but it had a tense moment of only hearing static electricity and their own breaths.

When they successfully communicated with the other three bases, everyone cheered.

It was a happy time worthy of celebration and they could also hear the excitement from the other lines.

Of course, Kylo being Kylo, he asked for the status report which the soldiers dutifully gave.

Kaize snickered behind him, mocking Kylo for ruining the happy mood. "What a damper."

Hugo chuckled in agreement."Boring turd."

The two of them flinched when they felt subtle static around them and they whipped their heads to Kylo, who they swore was staring at them before turning his attention back to the radio.

They glared but were held back by Cauis, who reprimanded them to ’stop being childish’.

This naturally heckled the two men’s feathers and wanted to argue until they heard the reports.

The Capital was attacked by another mob. However, fortunately, it was much smaller with only 1 super strength zombie.

All this time, Kylo was busy fortifying the defense of the base and equipping as many soldiers as he could with the plasma gun and supernaturalist knowledge.

With the current capitol base, the small mob that could’ve truly threatened to breach it was dealt with quickly. Thanks to the weapons and new techniques, the mob was cleared even before the super zombie could seriously damage the walls!

Next was the communication with the Peace Base, which had also been attacked. While it was a lot less fortified than the Capitol base, it seemed like there were a couple of ’breakout’ fighters among the new guards.

This was Chris, unsurprisingly, and he had showed off his wind elementalist skills not long after awakening it. He showed immense talent—and it was said he could defeat two or three soldiers in spar of powers!

As expected of the world’s male lead.

They got more reports and it was all real-time, showing how well it was working.

Hugo was a little smug as the main proponent of this development. However, as a curious guy, he wanted to see more of its limitations so he could improve them.

"Let’s see… maybe we can capture some nearby signals," he said, calibrating randomly. "Wouldn’t it be fun to—"

Unexpectedly, the static did stop—

[HELP!! HELP!!!]

[Please! Help us!!!!]

[GYAAAAAHHHH]

And the line ended.

Well, he didn’t really expect to get a few. He blinked, looking up to see everyone gaping.

What were the chances?
