The group naturally decided to check out the cry for help, as proper human beings would do.

Of course, they wouldn’t be risking their lives for strangers but they were strong and it would be against their conscience to not do anything when they were perfectly capable to do so.

Not to mention, everyone needed to keep up with the times, i.e. ensure they were stronger than others, so it wasn’t like there was no advantage to them.

Hugo’s expert traced the signal to another port area about a hundred kilometers away. They had three helicopters that would be going there, but they would also send a couple of boats from the Port Base in case some rescued people hoped to relocate.

They arrived at the area about half an hour later by air, while the boats were expected to arrive within a couple of hours.

A few people looked out the helicopter, directly taking the strong winds and the loud sound of the propellers to their faces.

They took an advanced view of the place, realizing that it was a small base by the port. It was denser and bigger than how the Port Base was before they began its expansion, and there were also much more zombies.

It had been breached by a massive mob and now the entire place was in chaos. Even from where they were, they could hear the screams of despair and hopelessness.

"Hurry up!" Hugo yelled to the pilot, looking at the chaos and the lack of a helipad or open space. "Just hover above at a low enough height, we’ll jump off!"

And that, they did.

"Hellppp!" a group of people yelled, sobbing, holding out whatever weapon they could to protect themselves with.

However, after so long, not only were their weapons’ durabilities getting compromised, it felt like their arms were about to fall off from tiredness.

Unfortunately for them, the zombies that were surrounding their group couldn’t care less about their feelings—of course—and they just continued to push on them, trying to claw and bite.

ROAR!

"AH!" a person yelled as he was clawed by the zombie. Fortunately, he was wearing really thick clothing. He was just complaining about the damned heat but now he sobbed in gratitude.

The group continued to wave their weapons around, trying to keep the mobs surrounding them at bay.

ROARRR!

They felt like crying, the hopelessness soon devouring their insides and their momentum. They could barely hold on to their weapons and it would only get worse.

They had fought so hard, were they going to fall like this?

Whoosh!

It was at this time that a ball of fire hit a zombie, followed by another which hit the next. This allowed for a narrow opening, and they took advantage of this to find a better spot with their backs covered.

"Thank you, Boss!" they yelled, looking at the aged man with white hair who was going around trying to save people.

Pedro nodded and continued the fight. He was covered in sweat and grime. He was too old for this much activity, but what could he do?

"Gyaaa!"

He turned to see a person bitten and he ran to them, pulling his son away. "Daddy! Daddy!" The boy screamed but Pedro made sure the child didn’t run back.

The man sobbed, but when he realized his son was in good hands he looked relieved.

"Boss! Take care of him, please!" He said, "Please kill me! I don’t want to become like them!"

Pedro’s eyes turned red but he nodded. He covered the boy’s eyes and embraced the child’s head to his shoulder. He held the boy tight so he wouldn’t witness the next scene.

"DADDY! DADDY!!!" The boy yelled, struggling in his embrace.

Pedro remained steadfast as he raised his weapon, slashing the man’s head before he turned to a zombie.

With his proficiency, it was obvious he had done this many times before.

And it never gets easier.

"DADDY!!!" The child continued to sob, and Pedro patted his back as he slashed the zombies around him.

"He’s in a better place now," was all he could say, trying to look for their way out.

The walls had been breached too much, and they could only head to the waters.

"Hurry up! Hurry up!" He yelled, especially to those who hadn’t found a path towards the waters.

They had been trying to clear the way and soon a group of a hundred or so people managed to gather together, defending their bodies and their loved ones side-by-side, while at the same time heading towards the seas.

But there were too many enemies. Worse, a moment later, there were even more screams gathered in one area. The next thing they knew a person was pulled in half and thrown in opposite directions.

It felt like their own hearts dropped when they saw the victims’ fall on the floor.

"Ahhhh! It’s a super zombie!!"

Nononono

Pedro’s eyes widened, but he was holding a child and his fire had already weakened from exhaustion.

He looked at the sea and to the small boats there. They didn’t know how zombies fared in waters, but it was the best they could think of!

They ran as quickly as they could. While the screams of those behind the line captured broke their hearts, they had long learned never to turn back or they would be next.

"AHHH!"

"HELP MEEE!"

Pedro’s eyes watered, unable to handle it in the end. He handed the boy to another person and turned back.

"HEY! PEDRO! Don’t do it, damnit!" The man yelled but then he felt the little boy just sobbing in his arms and cursed, running to the boats and to what was the safest path they had right now.

Pedro pushed his old bones and waved his sword, trying to save as many people as he could. He didn’t have energy to use his ability, but he did manage to rescue a handful of people until the Super zombie finished up the small group of people he had, turning in their direction.

"RUN FASTER!!" He yelled, and the people pushed themselves, even though it felt like it would never be fast enough.

Some people even fell down and they could only watch as the massive zombie headed in their direction.

It was here that a ball of fire hit the monster’s head. It wasn’t much, but it captured its attention. It turned to the breathless old man, holding out his weapon, definitely using his last remaining strength.

The people saw this and sobbed. "Boss!" They yelled, knowing full well he would die if he really went against this thing!

Their hearts felt so incredibly heavy, with a few people going back to help.

But they were too far and they didn’t run fast enough—not to mention the damned zombies in between!

In the end, they were preoccupied by their own battles and could only watch as their de-facto leader faced death.

However, before the monster could even grab him, they heard sounds coming from above, followed by a fast glint that shot down.

Slash!

Its large arm fell down with a loud flop, followed by a large ice piece on his head.

They looked up to see helicopters hovering and there they saw a gorgeous woman with flowing silver hair that seemed to have an ethereal glow surrounding her.

Immediately, they knew she was the one who made the attack!

Goddess!!
