Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 269: Pitiful Attempts
Days Later.
Inside the faculty room, a bespectacled woman with ebony hair was writing down on her desk, looking quite intimidating in her business. She was the only one there now, with all her colleagues calling it a day.
Khalifa, at 24 years old, had become a professor at a university, and most of it had to do with her work ethics and hard work.
She skipped a few grades and did very well, starting to work full-time when her peers were still preparing for their thesis.
After finally gaining some independence and freedom from her turbulent childhood, she just wanted to travel the world. Of course, she wasn’t rich and she didn’t want to depend on her boyfriend so she still got a job as a professor.
She was naturally recruited in even bigger universities, but she decided to take the offer of the mid tier one because it was a lot more flexible—allowing her to travel a bit more.
Her boyfriend, Jacob, was abroad training for the olympics. She planned to go see him on her free days as well.
She really missed him.
Their love story was years in the making. After she graduated, she was naturally too busy to tutor him. Plus, she had the option of getting a better job more fit to her new credentials.
He made a grand confession then, which caused him to be rejected, but with grit and determination, he softened Khalifa’s heart in the end.
Now, they were lovey dovey, even after a few years of dating.
It was just that it was the Olympic season and he was extremely busy with his training. They had barely seen each other in the past few months…
In fact, Jacob had been gone a month straight now, and their video calls and sexy messages were not enough anymore.
She looked down on her phone and looked a bit at his puppy dog message and she replied with something similar.
She put it back down to resume her work, but it pinged again. She blinked, thinking it was Jacob, only to see the name she hadn’t seen in a while.
Professor Cauis.
She bit her lips, heaved a deep breath, but she read all of the friendly updates from Professor Cauis sent anyway.
[Khalifa. How are you? How is work?]
When he confessed to her, she was already happily together with Jacob, and she couldn’t bear to leave him.
But… she had been tempted. It was one of the reasons she chose a different school to work in—so she could get away from the professor.
It wasn’t really necessary in the end though because he had been offered a fellowship abroad and he took it. Now, after a year of absence, he said he’d be returning for a visit and he wanted to meet with her.
And the news still made her heart flutter, which was followed by the immense guilt towards her boyfriend.
She rubbed her forehead and put the phone down, just continued grading the papers.
She blinked when she felt something cold touch her forehead. She raised her head to see an increasingly familiar face.
"Hello, professor," a handsome redhead said with a playboy smile. "I think you’ll need this."
Her usual harsh stare on him softened, and it made Kaize’s heart clench.
However, he still knew it wasn’t just because of his drink. He had been watching her for a long time. He had seen how her face softened as she looked at her phone.
Was it a man? There was no romantic gossip about her at all, but the thought of her having a man was making him incredibly jealous.

"Mister Kaize, how may I help you?" Her controlled pulled him back to reality. Like a good actor, he pushed down the jealousy and all Khalifa saw was the smooth playboy.
"There’s something I need to help with."
He had long memorized her schedule and knew she would be staying longer than others in the teacher’s lounge.
"There are plenty of staff who can do that in my place."
"It’s in your subject."
"I assigned monitors."
"I need it to be you," he said, leaning forward a bit, oozing with charisma that had historically made women moan just by its presence.
Unfortunately for him, Khalifa’s head and heart was already full with two men. In her eyes, he just meant trouble.
Khalifa frowned. He had been trying to approach her since his arrival a few days back. This made a lot of rumors fly about her and it was reducing the respect she had built upon herself.
At this, she stood up, refusing to be alone with him. "I’ll send a monitor to help you."
Kaize took a step forward, blocking her way. She frowned, glaring at him.
"I would appreciate it if you stop bothering me or I’ll file a motion that you’re simply causing chaos in our campus."
"You don’t want that scandal on you, right?" she said, passing him and towards the door. He wanted to grab her arm but then took out her phone, showing him the number showing ’Security Guard’.
"Want me to call him?"
Kaize could only freeze, then.
She didn’t even bother to bump into him out of spite.
Kaize pouted. She didn’t even want to touch him!
….
Days passed and Kaize had started getting used to the campus life, with the girls finally calming down.
While they still looked at him adoringly, mostly staring at him instead of class, they at least didn’t scream his name to his face anymore as if he was deaf.
His favorite subject was that woman’s subject—which was basic botany. It was completely unrelated to his course, but she was also teaching a gen ed subject which he fortunately could take.
She taught well and concisely, and it would make people uninterested in the subject actually more curious about it than before.
He tried to use the subject to get more alone time with her, but she would just assign random ’student assistants’ to help him out. There was definitely no lack of volunteers.
He ended up following her a lot. And because he was a good actor, there would be times he managed to hide himself and do this without people yelling ’Kaize’!
To be honest, never in his life would he ever think of following someone like this, but he couldn’t stop thinking about her!
So, he became the type of stalker that he despised as a star.
He stalked her social media (which was inactive except for when she was sharing her travel pics). He subtly asked around for more information about her, but she was apparently an introvert who didn’t join gatherings at all.
The reason why she was respected was because she was really smart and was a good teacher. She also had a special quality about her that—when she was angry—it made people want to submit.
His perverted brain just came up with various scenarios and his shaft that hadn’t risen for a while sprung up painfully inside his pants.
Anyway, he had to hire a professional to get to know her and in his investigation, he found out she really had a boyfriend!
And it was none other than Jacob—the top athlete they were throwing to the Olympics!
However, he had been gone for a month for a harsh training in the mountains, and he wouldn’t be coming back soon.
So, it got Kaize thinking…
The woman would be lonely, right?
