Chapter 100: Chapter 100: New Equipment(1)

"Fun is certainly one way to put it. I didn’t expect to be running around for half an hour to find this child." Alchemy shrugged.

Luckily for her, she wiped away all the tears before they had returned to the base. If it was evident that she was crying, she was sure Gravana would try to make their training even harder.

"Grahaha! Aren’t you a little too overprotective of your children?"

’At least he seems unbothered by me making him wait.’ Alchemy was relieved.

"Yeah, I thought we went over that already. I’ll burn the entire world down if it means protecting them."

Gravana gave a knowing nod.

"Alright, since it’s late, how about I teach you meditation tomorrow? I should get back to my boys soon."

"Uhm... Yeah, that’s fine. I’ll see you tomorrow morning, then. Good Night."

After their goodbyes, Gravana left promptly, and Alchemy let out a big yawn.

"Nera’s not back yet? That girl better not pull an all-nighter in those dreary tunnels."

"Speaking of night... I haven’t eaten yet. May I, Master Alchemy?"

Curiously, Alchemy looked down at her hero.

"Obviously? I told you earlier that you didn’t need to wait for us to return. Plus, you can access the storage yourself. It’s not like I can stop you." Alchemy chuckled.

Sapphire tilted her head for a few moments while in thought. Afterward, a small portal opened up in front of her, and her eyes lit up.

Moving her attention away, Alchemy headed into the hut and sat on the throne.

As all the system notifications slowed down, a panel with nine chest silhouettes with question marks in the middle of them. Of them, she needed to pick three.

"Hmm. 3 down the middle and right middle. Now give me four platinum boxes."

They revealed two silver boxes, a gold box, and a platinum box just as she asked for as she tapped them. Then, four small chests appeared in front of her.

Dungeon Reward Boxes were split into five tiers. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Ancient. Ancient boxes could only be obtained via certain events, so platinum was the highest one could normally receive.

"1 is good enough for now, I suppose. I’ll let you off the hook this time." She playfully glared at the system.

She began to open the chests in order, starting with the first silver chest.

<Congratulations! You have obtained Nightmare Princess’s Miniature Crown!>

A small black crown that was adorned with silver accents appeared in her hands.

"Oh, that’s pretty. Can I look at its specs system?"

<Notice: Since it is an item created by the system for you, yes.>

Alchemy looked at the crown with wide eyes.

For a Rare item of this level, its stat total was a little lower than average, and resistance from Mind-altering effects was niche at best.

"System... Why doesn’t this have a level requirement? Shouldn’t it be around level 50 or 60? While on the topic of weird things, why did none of the missions give me experience? All three of them would have surely leveled me to 50."

She didn’t pay much attention to the missions at first since even she had no idea how rewards were generated or calculated. Still, even after completing a sub-goal, she gained zero experience.

<Notice: Due to the First Major Update nearing, some system features are acting a little weird. All Prospects will be given rewards as an apology after the first update.>

"Haah? That sounds like a stupid excuse, so I didn’t hit level 50."

<Notice: Even if you reach the max level, you cannot evolve. There is no incentive to impede the Prospect.>

"Whatever. The rewards better be good."

<Notice: They will be catered to each Prospect!>

It wasn’t all bad so Alchemy couldn’t be mad. She could equip mid-game equipment without actually reaching the existence tier required for it.

Upon reaching Existence Rank 3, equipment with bonus effects like unique passives and actives becomes exceedingly more common. Not to mention that reaching E.R 3 was when all the primary abilities of the three factions could start being unlocked; the A.O.A community considered level 50 the beginning of mid-game.

Despite that, the distance between the early to mid-game was highly disproportionate to that between the mid-game and the late-game.

Shrugging the thought off, Alchemy moved to open the second chest.

The names of the items caused Alchemy to raise her brow, but she didn’t say anything. At the very least, she was getting Special Defense instead of Defense. Usually, Special Defense wouldn’t be too important until later, but since everything here had magic, it was better than physical defense, in her opinion.

Next was the gold chest.

"Now that’s a cool name! Why can’t all the equipment be named like that!"

She also thought Nightmare Princess’s Miniature Crown was a good name as well, but Alchemy wasn’t sure how she felt about being called a Princess. Aside from the fact that it was categorically wrong, she was an adult woman!

With only the final platinum box remaining, she ended up looking at it idly.

So far, her luck had been pretty decent. Two rares in a row from Silver Boxes could be considered good luck, and another rare from a Gold Box was average enough.

The rarities that could be obtained from boxes were limited to the base 5. Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. There were higher tiers, but they needed to be crafted.

"Make me the Goddess of Luck and give me a Legendary!" She shouted as she closed her eyes and opened the chest.
