Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Tier 2 Units!

Slouching in her Throne, Alchemy sat and idly looked through the various system menus.

"Mother Goddess! This is clearly his revenge of some kind! You can’t let him keep trampling over you like this! Against mindless beasts, such training is clearly pointless!" Nera protested as she rested next to Alchemy in her [Minimalist Form]

"I mean... I agree with you to an extent~." Alchemy responded.

"Uhm! Master Alchemy! Are you okay?" Sapphire asked with a worried tone.

"Thanks to my fancy chair, I’m A-OK~!"

Yup, she was out of it. Every fiber of her body was in so much pain that even the almighty [Prospect’s Throne] couldn’t relieve all of it for her.

She’s been stationary for about an hour. Her HP and SP had long since fully replenished themselves, but she struggled to find the will to get up.

"Status."

’Heh. Nice.’ Alchemy inwardly chuckled at her Civilization’s happiness.

She was surprised it only went down that much after Gravana’s... Stunt this morning.

"Well. The training wasn’t too bad. It did help me realize a glaring weakness of mine." She sighed.

"That you’re out in the open too much and that you should sit back and let us, your children, handle martial affairs?" Nera questioned in a matter-of-fact tone.

"No, that I’m not far enough into the front lines. I was someone who always stood in front of my armies during A.O.A, and that’s not going to change now, Nera. Especially with the information I got from Gravana." Alchemy sarcastically retorted, resting her head on her fist.

"What do you mean, Master Alchemy?"

Recounting her findings to the two, both of her heroes’ eyes opened in shock.

"You think there’s a [Mutation Array] at the center of this forest?" Nera asked to reconfirm.

"Yup. Not to mention the level 150 Dryads. I’m planning to start rushing for levels soon. I must reach a state of [Perfected Divinity] as quickly as possible. Both of you, as well, you need to awaken as [True Heroes]."

"Yes! When will we begin?"

"The day after tomorrow, I imagine. That should give me enough Divine Power to travel for a while. I’ll ask Gravana if he knows of any places with strong monsters for us to use to level up quickly. If we manage our time well, you should be able to complete your transformation, and I’ll be able to evolve again. After that, it’s just a matter of getting Sapphire and me to level 50."

"Uh-uhm. This is good and all but why are we in such a hurry? What is a [Mutation Array]?" Sapphire meekly asked, not really wanting to ruin the mood Alchemy and Nera had created for themselves.

"It’s... A ticking time bomb. If said bomb was of the nuclear variety." Alchemy answered before remembering that Sapphire had no sense of what a bomb was, much less a nuclear warhead.

"Okay, to put it into perspective. We’re a [Tier 2 Civilization] currently. To beat a super boss, we’d need at least 10 [Tier 8 Civilizations]. That’s for the weaker ones. That thing, the [Mutant Array], is an egg for a Super Boss. Among other things, but for our purposes, it’s an egg that’ll hatch a calamity."

"EEP!" Sapphire jumped back.

"Y-you’re planning to fight that thing?"

"Not particularly, no. But once I obtain my [Perfected Divinity], I’ll be able to uproot us, and we can run away. There’s also the possibility of destroying the egg. That might be possible if we can reach it, but again, level 150 Dryads. In truth, if they get on our case, you will be our secret weapon."

"M-me? But I couldn’t! There’s no way!"

"That’s why it’s our last resort." Alchemy chuckled.

"Even if it doesn’t come to pass, which it shouldn’t, you getting stronger quicker is better for us in the long run anyway."

Naturally, Sapphire wasn’t sure about all this, but if Alchemy said she could do it, then she’d believe her!

"With that in mind, I suppose it’s about time some new kids join our ranks." Alchemy hummed, getting up from her throne.

She knew the [Mutant Array]’s gestation period, but without knowing when it appeared, she couldn’t discern how much time they had. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

At best, they had 6 years. At worst, it could hatch tomorrow for all she knew. She was hoping that the System wouldn’t start her right next to a end-game boss that was about to be born, but it did start her between 2 [Hero++] existences that hated each other, so it wasn’t terribly reliable in that regard.

All this talk about an unknown threat looming over them got her back into the swing of things. Oddly enough, Alchemy was rather excited. She felt the most comfortable working under pressure like this as the rank one player.

Walking out of her hut, she interacted with the [Verminae Brood] for the first time since leveling it up.

Right away, she scrolled down to the Tier 2 units.

"I do believe it’s time to start getting annoying." Alchemy hummed, seeing that most of her units had some sort of debuff they could stack.

She could splurge a little since she had plenty of food to work with.

For now, she bought 10 squadrons of Emberbugs and Frostmarks, as well as four more squadrons of Wingrazers and Sylvan Carvers, spending 100 of her roughly 400 units of food.

"Seeing that food consumption bill tomorrow will give me heartburn, though."
