Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 52: Material Identification
<A new day has started! You’ve gained 1955 Divine Power, thanks to your followers! Your citizens will start getting hungry soon. Feed them 130 units of food before the end of the day, or they will begin suffering from starvation!>
<The System will go through a Major update in 4 days!>
"130... Could be worse, I suppose." Alchemy yawned.
On top of the large amount of daily food, Alchemy could only let out a sigh that her Faith stat hadn’t been raised.
’I even used SP this time but couldn’t mimic the effect. Then maybe I’ll try recreating the exact conditions tonight.’
Being greeted by the morning sun as she left her abode, Alchemy hummed, looking around until she saw some of her new units idling around.
Last night, she had ordered some of them to be on standby so Alchemy could send Nera to help with the never-ending hunt for food.
It was an excuse to prevent Nera and Gravana from fighting, but this way, she could gain some more experience and get higher-quality food.
Initially, Alchemy would send Sapphire as well, but the young deer still wasn’t comfortable around the Verminae who weren’t Nera. At least not while Alchemy was with them.
As she approached her new children, it didn’t take long for them to notice her.
{Mother! We greet you and wish you a wonderful morning!}
"Mmhm. Good morning. Anything unusual happened?"
{Not that we’ve seen, no. Sister Nera has told us that you’re expecting a guest soon.}
Alchemy nodded.
The flying insects, the Emberbugs, were large fireflies, specifically lightning bugs with a lovely orange carapace mixed with Bombardier beetles, their tail light being able to open up and launch long-range projectiles.
On the other hand, the grounded insects who rested below looked a bit more... Unnatural. Sure, all of the Verminae were massive bugs straight out of an apocalyptic horror movie, but they all had reasonably standard colors for what they were.
However, these kids, the Frostmarks, had a beautiful light snowy blue hue to their carapace. They had relatively long bodies, a beetle-like shell covering most of them, and strong, wide pincers.
"Yeah. Just alert me whenever he arrives. And... Please ignore him if he tries to taunt or rile you up."
{As you wish, Mother.} The new kids on the block nodded. They had checked the memories of their siblings and had a decent understanding of what to expect.
Didn’t mean they’d like it, but they’d listen to their Mother.
With that sorted, Alchemy entered the [Chrysalis Nexus] to check on the research progress that Nera started.
<Notice: [Chitin Forge] has 10:33 minutes remaining until completion!>
As she looked at the panel, it gave her the remaining time and a small, 3d render of what the outside of the building looked like.
It was shaped like the shell of a ginormous beetle with rough walls stylized as hexagonal chitin plates. It wasn’t the prettiest building, but none of the Verminae buildings were.
Except for the huts and, eventually, castles. Alchemy liked the designs of those a lot.
"How much did it cost? I imagine it was around 500 RP."
<Chitin Forge>
<Type: R&D building>
<Cost: 550 Research Points>
<Build time: 20 hours>
<Description: A facility used for all types of Forging. Refinement of materials, creation of weapons, etc.>
=
<Current Research Points: 1003>
"Seems the amount of RP hasn’t been lowered, at least."
The two-tier 1 Verminae research labs granted 1 [Research Point] per minute, or 1440 points daily. Although this was on the lower end, it wasn’t usually much of an issue, as researching items and buildings would take far longer than they cost without the help of any R&D units.
Having too little [Research Points] is what Alchemy wanted to achieve by recruiting the Knowledge Seekers into her ranks.
Even if it was just a loose alliance where she didn’t get any bonuses to her Divine Power or had to repay them somehow, it didn’t matter as long as the research could be hastened.
Moving her attention to the identification pedestals, Alchemy looked at the new items Nera had placed there.
Funnily enough, the mana fragment Alchemy placed the other day remained.

"So that bird was from the 3rd layer? Guess that’s what the Knowledge Seekers meant when they said it got exiled. Too weak for the family, I guess?" Alchemy hummed.
She was a little curious about the alchemical usages of the Monster drops, but she didn’t even know where to begin with that. Divine factions have their own "potions" in temporary blessings. Special buffs that she would unlock upon getting all five sub-skills of [Miracle Generation].
Other than just potions, Alchemy could also transmute lower-grade materials into higher-grade ones, which would be helpful since she wanted to learn artifact crafting anyway.
"Maybe I should collect some different flowers from around the forest and identify them. Actually, I wonder how rich I could become if I mastered Alchemy and Artifact Creation."
{Mother. A large vermin has arrived. Is this your guest?}
"Meh. It can be pushed back a bit." Alchemy shrugged, rushing out to meet her teacher.
