Chapter 55: Chapter 55: pseudo-administrative permissions

’Otherworldly, huh? He’s not wrong, I suppose.’

Finally, Alchemy could say she understood how this world viewed technology. Not that she knew the level of technology in this world, but she’d wager it was around medieval times. That felt like a troupe that was too common to shake off. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

It didn’t matter. In a few years, at most, the world would undergo a technological surge never seen before on this planet or Earth.

Regardless, Alchemy got an idea whenever she revealed the inventory to Rio’s subordinates. Spatial magic, or spatial abilities in general, seemed to exist in this world, but judging by Ali’s reaction, they weren’t understood well, if at all.

Now, the question was whether Knowledge Seekers would be more interested in spatial techniques or modern-day technology.

As far as discoveries went, manipulating space itself was a much more significant one than any technology, as it completely rewrote what humans knew about physics.

With this, however, Alchemy was sure she could make this relationship of theirs work.

"Ah, but that’s not all. Far from it, actually." Alchemy hummed, grabbing Rio’s attention once more.

Picking up the microscope, Alchemy took a stance and threw the tool at the wall as hard as she could, shattering it into pieces, much to Rio’s shock.

"W-what?! Why would you destroy such a priceless artifact?! Are you insane?!" He questioned.

"I might be. I don’t self-diagnose." Alchemy chuckled as she pointed back at the desk from which she took the microscope.

Rio turned to the desk only for the microscope to be back, in perfect condition, no less!

<Notice: Object destroyed. 10 Divine Power has been used to rebuild it!>

Pushing the notification to the side, Alchemy reveled in the chaotic expression Rio had.

"It came back? But you clearly destroyed it? There’s no such thing as a repair art that can restore something’s state so perfectly. Even the Miracles from the human churches failed to do so." Rio nearly had a mental breakdown.

"Yeah... I’m not too sure how it works, either. Or I do, but I don’t know why it happens." Alchemy shrugged.

"You wanna see the next thing?"

Rio looked at Alchemy and narrowed his eyes.

"My old heart can’t take this. Please, tell me it’s not anything else this impressive."

"It’s not. This one is more of a personal test, anyway. Would you mind coming over here and telling me what you see on this platform?" Alchemy reassured Rio, guiding his attention to the system terminal for research.

"It’s..." Rio paused as he looked at it.

The pause told Alchemy all she needed to know.

"Writing? Can I touch it?" Rio asked.

He could see the System panel, but he couldn’t see her or her [Heroes] personal panels.

She had tried making it appear in front of Gravana several times during their training, but they could not see it.

"Go right ahead." Alchemy nodded.

When he tried to touch the panel, it shocked him and forced him to pull away. Afterward, it prompted messages on both the interface and for Alchemy.

The shock wasn’t strong. Just enough to force whoever was interacting with it to recoil away.

Please note that permitting them will give them pseudo-administrative permissions for all system-run facilities. After the first major update, the specifics can be edited in the settings menu! Y/N>|

"Hmm, so that’s how it works." Alchemy nodded, pressing yes.

"Try again, now."

Hesitantly, he moved his hand closer until it made contact with the system.

<Notice: Access has been granted for [Elder Knowledge Seeker King], Rio!>

"Perfect now, could you use it and navigate to the option that says [Verminae Den]?"

It took Rio a second to figure out what Alchemy meant, but after a few attempts, he realized he needed to scroll with his finger. There were many options to choose from: buildings, simple tools, and even studies of science like chemistry and artifact creation.

Those were explicitly for the civilization’s citizens, however, so Alchemy didn’t need them, although with how everything is a reality now, it’d probably give her the necessary knowledge. Alas, those cost tens of thousands of [Research Points].

"Ah, [Verminae Den], here it is," Rio said, curiously tapping it to see what happened.

<Verminae Den>

<Type: R&D building>

<Cost: 1000 Research Points>

<Build time: 2 days>

<Description: A basic housing unit for the Verminae. One can house up to 20 Verminae, increasing Happiness and recovery and lowering upkeep costs!>

<Proceed with Burrow Den Research for 1000 Research Points? Y/N>

Rio looked at Alchemy for confirmation, to which Alchemy gave a nod.

<Notice: Confirmed! Research has begun! Please bring personnel specialized in R&D to speed up the process!>

Separately from that notification, Alchemy and Nera got another on their side.

<Two high level R&D personnel have been detected. As long as they remain as part of the project, the research will finish 3x faster!>

’YES! If he counts, then the other Knowledge Seekers should as well!’

The system terminal was replaced with a 3d transparent image of the Burrow Den, which wasn’t much as the outside of it simply looked like a hole.

It would become less and less transparent as it got closer to being finished.

"Fascinating as this is, what exactly is it for?"

"That... Is not something I’m willing to take the time to explain. I’ll show you eventually, but we don’t have the resources to do so right now. That being said, there is one more thing. Teacher, would you mind helping?"

Gravana, who had been very busy partaking in a glaring contest with Nera, suddenly turned to Alchemy.

"I’m not interested in all this stuff I can’t understand. What could I possibly help with, disciple?" Gravana asked.

"Oh, you don’t need to worry about that teacher. Your task would be very simple!" Alchemy responded, pointing at the side of the wall where the entrance was.

"You just need to punch that wall. Hard as you can, no holding back. Magic or whatever is fair game."
