Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 56: Sky Shatterer
"As hard as I can? Are you trying to see if the wall regenerates, too?" Gravana asked.
Alchemy nodded.
"If it does break, which it shouldn’t."
Every building registered in the system had an auto-repair function. So long as the building’s HP was above 0, it’d slowly regenerate. Further, if destroyed, it could be rebuilt at half the original cost.
The building lost all of its upgrades, which was a chore, but that wasn’t an issue for Alchemy.
"Well... If you say so!" A massive grin appeared on Granava’s face.
Gravana took a stance that Alchemy had never seen before. He spread his legs apart and puffed out his chest while both arms were halfway past his abdomen. Slowly, the wind in the room began to move clockwise.
His silver eyes gained a light blue glow as his fur began to flutter around. The air picked up speed, becoming faster and hotter.
It didn’t take long for the wind to become a torrent. All the small trinkets in the room were immediately blown away and shattered, with the larger apparatuses trying their best to stay glued to the ground.
That only lasted for so long, however, as even they began flying around, causing Alchemy’s Divine Power to drain rapidly as she shielded herself. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The small items only took 10 Divine Power to repair, but larger, more elaborate machines took upwards of 250!
Not that she particularly cared as she shielded herself and Nera from the torrenting winds, but even that became quickly impossible as the ferocious hurricane threatened to pick her up.
Nera assisted with her [Gravity Well], but even with its max output at level one, doubling the gravity around them didn’t keep them on the ground for much longer.
"Glacius"
Tapping his staff on the ground, Rio created a thick layer of ice that froze their immediate area, climbing up the legs of Nera and Alchemy to stop them from getting caught up in the wind.
"Barreo"
He then created a personalized barrier for the trio, ensuring that no debris flailing about hit them.
’These winds are already exceeding that of a category 3 Hurricane, and they’re still getting faster?! Just how strong is Gravana?’ Alchemy questioned, mesmerized by the site.
"Are you ready for this, Disciple? Take this as a lesson for you, too! Sometimes dodging and elaborate moves aren’t necessary! As long as everything in your path is destroyed, even the fastest won’t be able to dodge your attacks!" Gravana laughed cheerfully.
Then, the winds suddenly stopped. They rushed into Gravana’s arms, causing Rio’s eyes to widen.
"You just had to tell him to go all out! Brace yourselves!" Rio commanded.
"Re-layer!" He casted with a violent swipe of his staff, causing four more barriers to appear before them.
There was a single second of silence. In that instant, Alchemy and Nera were confused about what had happened.
’Was it a dud?’ They thought.
Then they heard Gavana’s words.
"SKY SHATTERER!"
Instantaneously, the winds reappeared, more violent than ever before, pushing Gravana’s arms forward straight into the wall.
A massive BOOM! It was heard, followed by the sound of cracks forming in the wall. Four of Rio’s barriers were shattered immediately, and the fifth threatened to follow suit.
Even after all of that, the sound of ice breaking could be heard, with two masses about the size of Alchemy and Nera slamming into the back wall.
|<Notice: Damage threshold reached. Reinforcement is beginning to fail.>|
|<Reinforcement will be repaired in 30 minutes!>|
Shortly thereafter, the wind settled. Everything was destroyed, but it was replaced shortly after. Only Rio and Gravana stood, and Alchemy and Nera were comically stuck to the wall.
So close to becoming cartoonish wall pancakes. So close.
The wall that Gravana punched, however, was a different matter.
It was intact! The only damage was cracks that spread out from the two points of impact, but system panels accompanied those, saying it would only take five minutes for them to repair themselves.
While the wall was mostly intact, the same couldn’t be said for Alchemy’s Divine Power, which was reduced by nearly 1200!
"Only a few cracks?!" Rio shouted.
"A wall that’s more powerful than my fist?!" Gravana roared.
His fists up to his forearms were bloodied entirely, but he could move them just fine, so they didn’t seem broken.
{MOTHER, SISTER NERA! ARE YOU OKAY? WHAT HAPPENED?!} The Verminae present at the base all cried into the telepathic link.
{We’re... Fine.} Nera briefly responded.
{What about you? Did anyone get injured?} She continued.
{N-no! A shockwave emanated from the Nexus and disoriented some of us, but nobody was hurt.}
’That’s good.’ Alchemy sighed inwardly.
Pushing herself off the wall, causing a loud THUNK! To resound through the room, Alchemy quickly got up while panting.
Nera did much the same, but unlike Alchemy, she landed gracefully on her feet.
"That’s... Gravana’s true power?" Alchemy shivered.
"Haah... If that stupid puppy really used his full power, my barriers wouldn’t even stall him." Rio sighed
And to think that Nera thought they could win if they used guerilla warfare. As long as that attack took to charge up, it would do more than enough damage to wipe every single building in Alchemy’s settlement out.
"GRAHAHAHA! How fun! Hey, Disciple! How about we take our training sessions here? Then we don’t need to worry about destroying the forest because of you being sent flying through trees!"
If Nera hadn’t already looked at Gravana, her head would have snapped to his location. Her mood immediately changed as her shocked expression turned to anger.
"What did you say Mother Goddess did during your "Training Sessions?"
’Oh, now he did it.’ Alchemy sighed, all the shock and awe wearing off with Nera’s.
"What’s wrong, little Shapeshifter? It’s only natural that training hurts a little."
Nera froze in place, blood rushing through her body, causing another blush, this one far brighter in color and covering her entire face.
"Nera, calm down. It’s not worth it." Alchemy tried to intervene but to no avail.
"CALM DOWN? WHEN YOU CAME BACK IN PAIN, YOU SAID HE WAS JUST PUSHING YOU TO YOUR LIMIT. THAT’S FINE, I CAN ACCEPT THAT! BUT THIS! I WILL NOT TAKE THIS LYING DOWN! THIS STUPID DOG NEEDS TO BE PUT IN HIS PLACE!" Nera freaked out, barely stopping herself from rushing at the injured werewolf right now.
"Grahaha! What a good kid you are!" Gravana taunted.
"I’m willing to take your challenge whenever little Shapeshifter!"
"Mother Goddess, please! Let me put this stupid mutt where he belongs. In the dirt."
’For the love of... He REALLY did it this time.’
Alchemy pinched the top of her nose and groaned.
"Don’t treat her too harshly, Teacher." She offhandedly gave her consent.
"Grahaha! Fine, I’ll be gentle! Let’s go, little Shapeshifter!"
Without saying another word, Gravana and Nera rushed out of the building and into the forest, causing Alchemy to sigh once again.
"I’m sorry you had to see that, Mr Rio."
"Hohoho. No need to worry. It was an amusing sight. But will young Nera be alright? Even if that pup holds back, Nera won’t be able to match him."
Sitting herself up on an nearby counter, Alchemy shrugged.
"Perhaps, but she’s too aggressive in my name. As brilliant as she is, her faith in me is blind, and it clouds her judgments. If she doesn’t learn her place in the world, that blind faith of hers will get her killed one day."
Pausing for a few moments, Alchemy moved a bit closer to the door.
"If it means keeping her safe in the future, I’m willing to let her get beat up a bit. But that’s not important right now."
She paused once again, this time clearing her throat and turning.
"I, Alchemy Ennis, formally welcome you to the [Chrysalis Nexus]. The soon-to-be-beating heart of the Verminae. How about we chat over snacks while the children are playing around?"
