Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 68: Steve
The rocks fell, and the lions leaped out of the way. However, one of the maned menaces wasn’t fast enough, getting the brunt of the large rocks.
With a roar, he sent the rocks flying, but the damage accumulated was obvious.
’Why does everything have such a powerful voice? Should I start taking singing lessons?’

Alchemy nearly burst into laughter when one of the lions was named Steve. The only thing that would have made the situation funnier was if Steve had been the strongest of the group.
Alas, the natural order of this world didn’t understand peak comedy.
’They’re pretty strong though. If this is what the outer edges of the 2nd layer are like, this is perfect!’
After her brief thoughts, the lions began charging at the group, which Nera happily returned.
Sapphire followed suit, but she wasn’t happy about it.
"Guess it’s time to try out this new ability." Alchemy hummed before snapping her fingers.
<Skill: Ruinous Bloom has been activated!>
Suddenly, a sunflower as tall as Alchemy appeared right next to her.
<Name: Ruined Sunflower>
<HP: 100/100>
<MP: 0/0>
"Destroy the flower if your HP gets low!" Alchemy called out as she pushed the miniature status panel out of the way.
"Alright!"
"O-okay!"
Dashing into the fray herself, Alchemy paid little attention to her decreased stats. The drops were noticeable immediately, but she hadn’t had a single easy battle since coming to this world; if this was going to be the same because of her decrease in stats, then so be it.
Right away, Nera set her eyes on the biggest lion, pulling a prepared log out of the storage.
Seeing as she didn’t want to get scorched and scolded by Alchemy again, she entered her Gigant Form immediately, smashing down on the lion, who didn’t expect the sudden burst of speed.
While her force was great, it wasn’t enough to keep the lion down as it retaliated by slashing at her. The great claws from the beast forced Nera to jump back, and the Lion capitalized on it by letting out a long breath of fire in her direction.
"Nice trick. Wanna see mine?" Nera asked, flying above the flame.
Pressing down on the lion with her gravity, she threw her sharp log like a javelin. The Lion narrowly dodged the oversized stake only to have another one thrown at its head.
Unable to entirely avoid this one, he blasted it with his fire breath in hopes of burning the wood to ash, but protected by Nera’s Divine Energy, the Lion had little luck in that endeavor as a deep gash was created in its side.
Before they could recover, Nera kicked the poor kitten into another lion, Hero, the one Sapphire was currently struggling against.
"T-thank you, Miss Nera!" Sapphire shouted.
"Don’t mention it, Sapphi!" Nera chuckled.
Meanwhile, Alchemy faced off with Legend and Steve.
Legend pounced on her, which she ducked to avoid. She went to retaliate but missed the chance when Legend rushed at her.
Moments later, Legend shot several fireballs at her.
The three fireballs sorted themselves out as she jumped the first, ducked the second, and then a ruined sunflower appeared just in time to block the third.
Her eyes widened at what happened, but she wouldn’t miss out on a free chance. It seemed she wasn’t alone as Legend froze for a few moments in surprise. Alchemy slammed her fist into his side, sending him into the wall, rocks falling on him afterward.
Right as she downed one of the beasts, Steve came in from the side with frightening ferocity. Alchemy saw it and tried to move out of the way, but her lack of strength caused a miscalculation in her movement, allowing the lion to send her to the ground.

Pain shot through her body as she fell. Steve tried to finish her off by breathing fire, but Alchemy rolled away just in time.

’Surely I’m not getting shown up by a lion named Steve...’ Alchemy lamented as her life was nearly taken in a single hit.
She was suddenly starting to regret not sitting this fight out.
When she got up, she cracked her fingers as she saw her HP increase by 100, then another 100 shortly after, as two sunflowers had been destroyed. This caused her to look over and see Sapphire not doing too well either.
’Nah. I’ll finish these two up and go help Sapphire. They’re nothing compared to Teacher.’
As she mentioned Gravana in her mind, she realized that he was nowhere to be seen in the fight. She wanted to look around for him, but she didn’t have the leisure. Perhaps he was the type of teacher to sit on the sidelines and only intervene when Alchemy was really about to die.
Or he could actually be leaving her to die. Alchemy didn’t know and hoped she didn’t have to find out.
Fighting two enemies while figuring out her dropped stats was awkward and nearly fatal, but Alchemy was getting used to it.
Unfortunately for her, by the time she fully recovered herself, her dance partners had also recovered.
Perhaps Even more unfortunately, the largest of the lines, with his fiery mane, was flying straight at her like a ragdoll, temporarily blocking her vision of her opponents.
’Oh, you have got to be kidding me, Nera!’
As the largest of the lions got close enough to her, she slammed her entire body into it, sending him to the ground, before kicking it at the two other lions she knew were approaching her.
