Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 90: Caras, Forsaken Knight of the Lost King(1)
"So, do we know what’s up ahead?" Alchemy asked.
Her words made the group collectively glance toward the only way for them to continue—the conjoined tunnel.
"I’ve tried looking around for secret passages or something, but I’ve had no luck. Besides those weird carvings down the middle path, there seems to be nothing more to this dungeon." Nera explained.
The markings. Alchemy had seen a few of them before the group initially split. To her, they looked like scribbles.
"You think they’re decipherable?"
Nera shrugged.
"I’m not too sure. I plan to take a more detailed look after we finish the dungeon. I confirmed that this pocket space will remain after."
Made sense. Since the system didn’t create the place, it didn’t make sense for it to destroy it afterward, like the instance dungeons in A.O.A.
"If you two are done yapping, can we proceed? I sense something extremely powerful. At least it has to be a Monster from the 3rd layer, maybe even the 4th!" Gravana stated, his eyes suddenly becoming sharper as he looked down the hallway.
"Just how disgustingly acute are your senses..." Nera scoffed.
"This is the bare minimum, Shapeshifter. What kind of guardian can’t even sense the danger near their liege?" He retorted.
Their bickering continued as Alchemy entered into her own world, deep in thought.
’3rd or 4th layer. Judging by the current average levels of the forest and the dungeon level, it’s probably around level 60 or 70.’ She thought.
This would be the first monster with a higher level than Gravana and Rio—their initial level estimation, at least.
Alchemy was quite confident in saying Gravana and Rio were anomalies, and the system mirrored that sentiment.
Even if that wasn’t the case, Alchemy was confident enough to win without casualties as long as those two big arguing lugs were present.
Unlike her, they were masters when it came to fighting. Nera, especially, was versed immensely in taking lives thanks to the influence of the system.
’It’s okay. Unlike with the Mint Lions, I’m not dealing with a stat debuff, and I’m significantly stronger.’
Alchemy felt a shiver encompassing her body. When she went to stop it, she realized that her facial muscles were tensed up bizarrely.
She was nervous, even a little scared, but despite that, she smiled broadly.
"Mother Goddess? Are you okay?!" Nera panicked a bit as Alchemy was unresponsive.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. I was just thinking about how long it’s been since I’ve done a boss raid. Shall we get going?" She responded, beginning to head in.
After only two steps, Gravana ended up stopping her.
"Grahahaha! I like how eager you are to fight strong opponents! But you should let me take the lead this time. I haven’t been able to stretch properly recently."
As Gravana stepped forward, he cracked almost every crackable spot on his body—his fingers, wrists, neck, and toes!
But then he was stopped! This time by Nera!
"Haah? You lead? A kennel-bred mutt like you couldn’t lead a herd of sheep. I’ll ensure this boss doesn’t have a chance to fight back."
The two pushed ahead of Alchemy, her eyes widening at first. She was confused at how they could be so calm in this situation, but that quickly led to a sigh of relief.
"I have one very stubborn, competent subordinate." She chuckled quietly, following behind them.

The tunnel was long and extensive. It was not nearly as long as the prior tunnels, but it was long enough to take over a dozen minutes to reach the end.
At said end, the tunnel widened up to a completely dark room.

A powerful voice echoed throughout the room. It was like a ceaseless storm. It caused that minuscule shivering to reach deep into Alchemy’s body.
Then, bright lights flashed, revealing a large, ornate throne room. Like the cafeteria before, the high ceiling was supported by many pillars, but this time, jewels of every color adorned each pillar.
Off the sides were statues holding books, quills, and abacuses. Scholars and members of the court, no doubt.
Down the middle was a beautifully maintained red carpet that led up to the platform with the thrones, of which there were 3.
And on that center throne, a tall humanoid knight clad in crimson armor. A sword of grand proportions at his side. If not for the horn poking out of the helm, it’d be impossible to tell that this knight was in any way related to the Dire Tooths.
"I will present the heads of the betrayers to soothe my king in his eternal nightmare."
The knight glared at the trio as he slowly got up, brandishing his greatsword.

’SS+! And he has a title?!’ Alchemy’s eyes widened, the group taking their stances.
"Don’t move carelessly. This one is truly strong!" Gravana stated.
His Pupils dilated as saliva began dripping from his mouth. He couldn’t help but lick his lips at this delicacy before him.
Unintentional as Gravana’s provocation was, the knight completely ignored him. Instead, With his free hand, Caras pointed past Nera and Gravana.
"You are the leader of the traitors? The one who tricked my liege into losing himself to that eternal slumber! YOUR FATE WILL BE FAR WORSE THAN DEATH, BETRAYER!"
Tilting his head, he took one step forward, descending one stair. Then, another step to descend the next, a 3rd step, and a 3rd stair.
Once he placed his foot on the 4th, His point suddenly became a thumbs down, and in the next instant, he vanished from his spot.
