Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 133
Haah.
Winston rubbed his tired eyes. He’d already had four cups of coffee, but the wave of fatigue was unstoppable. The workday had long since ended, yet a mountain of paperwork still piled up before him. All of it needed to be reviewed by tonight and sorted by tomorrow morning. Just thinking about it made his stomach churn.
After joining his father’s company, things had been okay for a while. Using learning the job as an excuse, he’d leave work earlier than scheduled and spend happy days fooling around with Yujin. He taught Yujin how to drive and found nice places nearby where they ate together. A few times they were invited to parties, and through that, Yujin made some friends.
That was a fortunate thing considering what came after. Winston began drowning in work, and the time they spent together gradually shrank.
Fortunately, Winston had taught Yujin many things to keep him occupied before that. Yujin would take taxis or public transport to fairly distant places. If he found something he liked, he’d buy it and show it to Winston. Sometimes he’d give gifts to friends and seemed to be doing well. Thanks to that, Winston could focus on work without worry—but then rumors started trickling in one by one.
“Are you going to be late again today?”
Just as Winston finished a call and hurriedly worked through the backlog, a voice suddenly cut through. Glancing reluctantly, he saw Gordon standing in the doorway, looking at him. His older brother’s face showed no sign of fatigue. Winston knew how negligently Gordon treated his job. He often left early or sometimes didn’t show up at all. Sometimes Winston couldn’t understand why he himself had to dedicate so much to company work when none of his siblings did.
There was only one reason: for Yujin. Winston wanted to give Yujin the most comfortable and secure life possible. When they left the family, their lives were a mess. While Winston worked himself to exhaustion, Yujin gradually started drinking—probably to forget his loneliness. Since their place wasn’t very secure, Yujin couldn’t leave the house alone. So he drank the liquor Winston bought—one or two glasses a day—and fell asleep. Every time Winston saw that, he wondered if leaving the family with Yujin had been the right choice.
But now it was different. Yujin could go anywhere and do whatever he wanted. All thanks to Winston returning to the family. That’s why Winston vowed never to give up this time.
If they ever had a child, he would inherit an empire. To do that, he had to win his father’s favor. Having decided to return to the family, his goal was clear. And he thought his current sacrifices were trivial. Sometimes, he wondered what meaning a life so busy that he couldn’t properly spend time with Yujin had.
Everyone has their own place in life.
He consoled himself with that thought. Gordon and the other siblings merely played and enjoyed the family fortune—that was their given life. Winston wasn’t given such a life. But that didn’t mean he’d give up. The only way was to stubbornly run this path.
“There’s still a lot left to do.”
Winston glanced at the piled-up paperwork with a showy look, then lowered his gaze back to the documents. Gordon let out a loud sigh that grated on Winston’s ears.
“Poor little brother. You’re working so hard, and that guy......”
“Yeah, while I’m working, Yujin is meeting friends and buying whatever he wants, enjoying himself. He’s enjoying the freedom Dad took from him all this time.”
Winston repeated the words he’d grown sick of saying, showing his disgust plainly. Most people would back off around here. But Gordon wasn’t most people.
“Freedom and indulgence are clearly different. Well, if you don’t care, that’s fine... but watching my brother get used is hard to stomach.”
“If you’ve got something to say, say it quickly and get lost. I’m busy.”
Winston spat sharply, “I don’t have time like you do.” Gordon chuckled and answered.
“Fine. I just wanted to let you know your Omega is constantly bringing men to bed.”
Winston just snorted. As if that was nonsense. But Gordon didn’t back down.
“You won’t want to believe it, but it’s true. You know it too, right? That guy was brought in as a prostitute to catch Dad’s seed. It’s no surprise he acts on his nature.”
Without a word, Winston put down the paperwork he was looking at. Slowly standing and straightening his back, the moment their eyes met, Gordon noticeably flinched. Winston muttered in a low threatening voice.
“You must’ve said that knowing exactly how I’d react when you talked trash about Yujin like that.”
“Of course. But someone has to tell the truth. I just had to take responsibility as the eldest.”
Hastily speeding up his speech as if to excuse himself, Winston’s mouth twisted noticeably. The pheromone scent around him thickened, and his eyes glowed gold.
“A mouse that tries to bell a cat is bound to die, right?”
If this went on, it really felt like he’d kill Winston. Gordon felt a serious crisis and hurriedly stepped back.
“Alright, I’m sorry. I’ll apologize. I said harsh things, just forgive me this once!”
Seeing his older brother extend his hands and repeatedly apologize, Winston calmed his anger. If not for the mountain of work, he might have throttled Gordon on the spot, but he had no time for that. Glancing at the front window behind him, Winston thought about throwing him out. Not a bad choice. It wouldn’t take long.
As if sensing Winston’s mood, Gordon paled and quickly stepped back. Winston furrowed his brows, and Gordon shouted from a distance.
“You’ll regret this someday. You’ll admit I was right!”
Like a last will, Gordon left those words and fled in a hurry. Listening to his footsteps fade, Winston loosened his tie roughly and sat back down. He had wasted useless time. How many minutes had already slipped by listening to such nonsense?
This kind of provocation wasn’t new. Not only Gordon but other family members took turns visiting. The content was mostly the same, but one thing was always consistent: Yujin was cheating on Winston, and Winston was living a wild life changing partners constantly.
Winston scoffed each time, mocking them. Their tricks were so shallow they almost inspired pity. The tactics to separate him from Yujin were just too low-level. Trying that only made his feelings for Yujin grow stronger. The ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) more he realized how much his family despised Yujin, the more Winston believed only he could protect him.
Yujin cheating on me? What a ridiculous joke.
It was so absurd it made Winston laugh. Straightening his posture, he focused on the paperwork again. He wanted to return to Yujin as soon as possible. To the one lover who waited only for him.
Then one day, that happened.
“Sorry, darling. I don’t think I can come back tonight.”
Winston heard a small inhale on the other end. Imagining his lover’s obvious disappointment, he continued.
“I have to catch the last flight, but I can’t finish my work until then. I’ll come back early tomorrow morning, so please forgive me, okay?”
After a while of silence, Yujin answered in a heavily dejected voice.
“I know it’s because you’re working... it can’t be helped... I’m okay.”
That voice was anything but okay.
If he could, Winston would have rushed over to shower Yujin with kisses to soothe him, but he couldn’t. Instead, Winston changed the subject and asked.
“What did you do today? Did you meet with friends?”
“Uh? Uh......”
Yujin hesitated before answering.
“Just... wandered around......”
“What were you doing?”
At Winston’s question, Yujin started describing one thing after another. As he spoke, Winston responded with soft acknowledgments like “I see,” or “Oh, really?” He listened carefully. Even as he skimmed through paperwork and signed documents, most of his attention stayed on Yujin’s voice.
“Alright, I’ll hang up now. Sorry, good night.”
Winston’s words were met with a deflated “Okay.” He didn’t want to hang up either, but had no choice.
