Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 152: Trial Of Water Part 16: The Offer
Acier stood there, her body glowing with its sea blue aura. She could feel her life force fading, taking the attack head-on had taken a huge toll on her than anyone would have imagined, and it wasn’t something anyone would want to handle.
’So this is it for me?’ She didn’t even try to fight back, accepting the warm embrace of death.
It felt like she was on the shores of the ocean, and the last thing she was feeling was free in every way possible.
’I failed Lady Thalyria, but why do I feel so...’ She looked around, feeling the contract that bound her with Thalyria fading away.
’I feel so free, I don’t know why I feel like this but. It has to be one of the best feelings I have had in a while...’
Acier fell to the ground, her eyes going to still as she looked up into the ceiling of the temple it was now empty and hollow. Showing her that there was nothing to all she had tried to protect and she wasn’t even going to try and save her.
When her eyes were about to close, she heard footsteps coming from the side. It sounded a bit strange, turning she saw Darius holding his wound as he walked to her. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
She remained silent, watching the warrior of chaos walk to her. Expecting that he was going to land another blow to make sure that he did the job well, she closed her eyes, accepting fate.
But to her surprise, Darius sat down by her side. He was quiet, and it was almost like he didn’t want to bother her.
Acier didn’t understand his gesture. Looking at the warrior, the only thing she could do was question him and his motives.
"You’re a strong warrior, if you had taken me seriously from the beginning of the fight maybe you wouldn’t even be laying there."
Darius smiled, his wounds were slowly healing. He was looking at the Dragon statue, his eyes were now different that he had taken down the knight that was trying to kill him.
"I know that the last person you would want to talk to is me, so I am not going to waste your time here and get to what I feel you should know."
He turned to her, looking at her now calm eyes.
"Your sister is still alive within me, I saw what Thalyria did to both of you and how you have been trying to make sure that there is a chance for you to save your little sister."
Darius was looking at her; he could see the tears falling from her eyes.
"You and Aya, both of you had fought tooth and nail to make sure that there was nothing you owed the Dragon King, but even after three thousand years, she didnt look your way, she turned you into a weapon and your sister into a monster."
"That is not what she did, she..."
"She told you that there was no need for you to get yourself worked up; she would take care of everything that happened, ridding Aya of her true form. Making her a monster that protected her temple, she made you a weapon that would fight for her."
Our young warrior turned to see the knight crying beside him; she was in pain, hearing all that.
His words were going to be what would determine the next stage of what they were going to be doing.
"Aya told me that you had to get things done, you kept fighting to make sure that there was a soft spot for you in her heart but tbrn she didn’t give a damn that you were giving it your all she knew was that you would make her happy."
Acier couldn’t hold in her tears, she burst out crying, knowing that it was all the truth that she had devoted her life to someone who didn’t even look at her like she were something normal.
In that short timespan, her life began flashing before her very eyes, almost like it was a silhouette of all she had been through and how she tried to avoid the truth.
The harsh reality was, she was never going to be free from Thalyria, and there was nothing going to stop the Divine being to stop using her like a tool; instead, she would have turned into a monster, empty and void of emotions.
"I hate this, I can’t die like this..." Acier cried, her voice slowly fading away. "How am I going to be able to save her now?"
Darius was looking at her, he couldn’t help but remember Lena, and thought of how he had fought to make sure that there was nothing going to stop him from seeing his baby sister.
He knew more than anyone the feeling of trying to make sure that your loved one will be okay from all the struggle and pain.
"I can help you, I will put you back with your sister, and you will be okay, but you will have to make sure that you want this."
Acier turned to him, looking at the warrior, and she could feel that something about him was different.
It was a calm and warm feeling, the exact opposite of what she felt when she was with Thalyria.
"How can you help me?" She muttered, knowing that there was no way for a human to even do anything to save her or even come close to it.
"My essence is that of the divine, and you are a mortal being, so..."
"I can work miracles, you know, I beat you, didn’t I?" Darius scoffed, his cocky voice not revealing his mind as he was trying to talk to her.
"I lose to a mortal, and this is what he tells me: You should have died the moment you set foot into this temple."
Acier barked back, looking at Darius. She could still feel it. It was there that warm feeling that she didn’t want to believe would ever come to her like that.
"Aren’t you tired of guarding a temple and serving someone who would never look at you the way you want?"
He smiled, looking at the knight. Even though she was weak, there was this aura that made her want to stay close to him now. It was welcoming, it was like she had seen what she had been looking for.
He was someone she could rest on, someone to lean on.
"What are you trying to say?" Acier was looking at the man in front of her, trying to understand if she would understand what was on his mind.
"I am telling you to be reborn in my light, be reborn in my chaos, and I will make sure that nothing is going to make you sad again."
Acier was looking at Darius. She was not sure if she understood what he was trying to say, but then...
"I know what you think," Darius smiled, he tilted his head looking at her. "I know you must think that I am crazy even trying to talk to you about something like this."
"That wouldn’t be the only thing on my mind. How can a mortal like you even do something like that?"
Acier was looking at Darius as he stood up, looking at her. The smile on his face was something to die for; she didn’t know what it would bring to him, but then he had a look on his face.
"Maybe you just have to trust me on this and try to follow my lead..."
Darius placed his hand on her head, closing his eyes.
"You should trust me when I say that this isn’t going to..."
"Will you be sure that you won’t leave me?" Acier spoke up, shocking Darius, who was already going to start absorbing her core.
He was looking at her, not sure what it was, but he knew there was something unique about this one.
"You don’t have to be worried about that, I will stand by your side. Your pain will be my pain, your tears will be my tears, but my joy will be your joy. When you fight, you fight for me, and I will support you in any way I can to make sure that nothing is going to happen. I know I can’t bring your Aya back to life, but I can promise you this."
He took her hand, looking into her eyes with a smile on his face.
"You will never feel empty again!" He smiled.
Acier let out a small smile, holding Darius’s arm tightly, closing her eyes whilst she drew her last breath.
Darius placed his hand over her, closing his eyes.
